MR. Rae,

I assume you'll be checking back since you asked for a reply.

A) the Serb commenter replied to Kosova-USA and he said 1321 before America existed (something along those lines).
I assumed that date had something to do with America/USA not Kosovo.

B) Since I the year was about America, I could not remember anything significant happening in that year.

C) Here are my explanation for the years:

1492: Christopher Columbus discovers the New World.

1776: The Declaration of Independence is proclaimed in the American colonies.

1812: The War of 1812 begins, it ends in 1815 in which Great Britain recognizes the sovereignty of the American colonies.

1917: The United States declares war on Germany (WWI).

1941: Pear Harbor, the United States of America enters WWII.

1969: NASA (United States) is the first to send a man to the moon.

1991: Dot com boom begins in America.

2001: 13 terrorists, mainly (11) of Saudia Arabian ethnicity execute the World Trade Center attack killing thousands.

2008: First black American is voted president in office.

RKS,
just to inform you of the 1321 reference, its meaning and its importance, please refer to the following link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gra%C4%8Danica_monastery
Interestingly enough, I too was wondering what was significant about that year, and when I considered the topic at hand, I thought that I should investigate this topic a tiny bit. On the second line of the page it reveals the importance of that date.
"It was founded by the Serbian king Stefan Milutin in 1321.".
Out of further interest, could you please explain the importance of the dates that you've provided? They seem to be highly important in your opinion and I for one would be interested in their relevance. Seeing that you've sprinkled a number of dates, without any sort of reference, and the Monastery doesn't seem to be the point of your post I'd be randomly searching for an event in said given years hoping that the one I've picked was what you feel was important.
Thank you in advance.

Another two ignorant Americans on a photo opportunity. Perhaps they could show the world Albanian historical buildings in Kosovo; you know the ones going back 1500 or 2000 years and prove to the world and Serbs the claim that Albanians are descendants of old Illyria. No such structures; what a surprise.

(Gojko, 27 February 2010 20:11)

What happened in 1321? Clearly it must not be important since the important dates are 1492, 1776, 1812, 1917, 1941, 1969, 1991, 2001, and 2008.

No objection if you take over Bronx - but remember one thing: Brighton Beach is OURS. :-P
Albanian cakes are very-very good, but the cake "Truffel" and the cake "Kiev" beats them all.

Gracanica should be open anytime to anyone who wants to ask Sisters for advice how to deal with the sins committed.

I think, what happened is very good. I hope, Dell spent extensive time talking to Sisters. And like his masters he should visit everything what has cross painted on it between Kizhi in north of Russia and Chilandariou on Athos.

One way to get rid of world's probably most dangerous virus called "State Department". And next time use an other OS of less destructive nature!

The truth hurts Mr. Jones and Mr. Dell..... that Kosovo is Serbian. I am sure these men were thinking to themselves why are we taking the side of Albanians when this beatiful Monastary proves that Kosovo is Serbian! What has our gov't done?

This is the logical development if serbia chooses anglo-american "democrazy" and disintegration into Soviet €Uropean union. As many parties as you like, merged together in "cooperation", but the same politics, neo-liberalism that is, a pre-stage to pure fascism.

Dell told journalists that he visited the monastery with Jones because “it is a living testament to the presence of Serbs in Kosovo.”

-- Yes, in spite of everything from 1999, certainly not because of it. This computer virus should the general population of Gracanica how many of them are refugees from other areas of Kosovo.

"Serbian Religion Minister Bogoljub Šijaković was in Gračanica at the same time Dell and Jones where, which Dell said was a total coincidence."

-- I'm sure that must have been an interesting exchange.

Dell "Hey! Are you here to meet with us?"

Šijaković: "Who the devil are you?"

Dell: "I'm Christopher Dell! The Ambassador to Kosovo!"

Šijaković: "Who?"

Dell: "Christopher Dell! I'm here on a token photo-op in front of a Serbian monastery so I can show my superiors in Washington how much of a multiethnic democracy this land is."

Šijaković: "Yeah. Good luck with that."

"Jones and Dell met with newly-elected Gračanica Municipal President Bojan Stojanović, who was elected during the Kosovo elections of November 2009 that were organized by Priština."

-- Which is about as effective as meeting the Albanian mayor of Kosovska Mitrovica. Meet with the Belgrade-backed leadership if you want to start any tangible negotiations. No better yet, why don't you just meet with the people. You'll certainly get an earful of all sorts of colorful words but I guarantee the good rubber stamping official he'll be in less friendly territory than in Pristina. Maybe they'll give him a grand tour of the Serbian passport office. Perhaps he can ask all the Albanians there why they're leaving.
