“Kosovo independence linked with regional stability”

I think it's time for referendum for all the inhabitants of Northern Kosovo: do the want to stay with Serbia or join Pristina.

If the udi is a contributor to stability, then keep hoping that there is not a reactive change of government in the region.

Serbia is being remarkably quiet given that its lands are being stolen. The udi is a breach of 1244 and Serbia has a case for reasserting its rights if something is not done about it.

Serbia will not sign away its land, so stability will come when the Albanians who live in Kosovo are unilaterally told that they have to be an autonomous region and not a country.

Until then - keep hoping.

Kosovo's independence is directly linked to the American troops stationed there.

AlbanD - You have no moral high ground. There are injustices done to decent friends of mine who are Serbs. They have a longer running case than you and have been driven out by your people.

In my view the udi was wrong because it rewarded years of mono-ethnic ambition on the part of people who are Albanians that long predated Milosevic. The term 'ethnic cleansing' is first associated with Albanians in Kosovo driving out Serbs.

Stability can only come when there is agreement - and the udi is not agreed to. Hence no long term guarantees I am afraid. No single Kosovo under the udi either - the north is not joining.

Stability will be permanent once Kosovo is respected as a multi-ethnic state. Kosovo doesn't belong to Serbia because it has 'historical' significance.

No for Preshevo splitting from Serbia, and no for Mitrovica spliting from Kosovo.

We as a nation independent from Albania and Serbia, will settle for nothing less then equality, and freedom from the injustices done to us in the past by Serbia. Lets move on because the world already has!

Yes we'll allow you the referendum (on all territories) in a few years.., and you'll have to decide: "Should I stay or should I go" (Referendum by "Clash"). You should be satisfied with this "Western classics" choice. Your partners will help you.., "until the end", be sure!

We've said this before that independence was the only way forward. With a political limbo for a status ('99-'08) Kosova and Kosovars saw no progress---economic or otherwise.

They are no Greeks there, just some Vlachs and brainwashed Albanians, that speak Albanian at home but want Greek pensions so they go with the plan. Serbs speak Serbian at home, and Albanians speak Albanian.

I hate the stability argument. Anyone who's stupid enough to believe Kosovo's independence contributes to stability shouldn't be a minister for any government anywhere.

That idiot Ahtisaari has made Albanians believe they can take chunks out of their other neighbouring countries as well now, and also made Serbs believe Republika Srpska can split from Bosnia. Stability would have been when just the republics had independence. This has just guaranteed instablity for the forseeable future.
