“A lot of the rabid nationalists will continue to rail against Tadic, but I believe that he is right on every point”

Bob sounds like a low-ranking diplomat at the American Embassy in Belgrade. For him and his Masters anyone who questions the carefully crafted “Srebrenica story” is a “rabid nationalist.” What Bob is trying to do is to make research into the events in and around Srebrenica into a taboo. For him, we should all accept the American version of history as written by Madeline Albright and as broadcast by CNN and the BBC.

However, despite the passing of 15 years and hundreds of millions of euros spent on the “investigation” we are still no closer to know what went on in Srebrenica in July 1995.

Here are some questions about Srebrenica which remain unanswered:

1. We still don’t know how many Moslems were in Srebrenica in the days before it was surrendered.
2. We still don’t know how many Moslem men (all of them soldiers) escaped alive and well to Tuzla and other Moslem-held towns.
3. Since we don’t have figures for 1 and 2 we cannot know how many men were killed in fighting and executions.
4. Serbs are ready to entertain the possibility that some local Srebrenica Serbs may have shot Moslems in revenge attacks for the crimes of Nasser rlic and his Mujahideen. Why can’t the Americans entertain the possibility that some Moslems may have fallen in battles with the Serbs are they broke out of Srebrenica and escaped to Tuzla?
5. We still don’t know why Srebrenica and neighbouring Zepa were surrendered by the Moslems. This is important because the official “Srebrenica story” suggests that the town was “taken” by the Serbs and not “surrendered” by the Moslems.
6. We don’t know enough about 10th Sabotage Units of the Bosnian Serb Army. This “Unit” was staffed by non-Serbs (Croats, Slovenes, and Bosnian Moslems) all of whom had previously served in the French Foreign Legion. It is claimed that this “Unit” was responsible for the murder of 1,000 Srebrenica Moslems. If this is so, then why has only one member of this “Unit” been prosecuted (the Croat Drazen Erdemovic) and why did he receive a sentence of only 5 years in prison to be followed by a new identity and a comfortable life in the West? Where are other members of this “Unit” and is it true that they all have French passports?

There are many questions that could be asked about Srebrenica, but if we follow Bob’s advice we will not ask them and merely accept the inconsistent story fed to us by the Americans.

Quasistate, the Albanians here get upset when we don't spell Shiptar the way they do and say that it is disrespectful to spell it theat way. Then they spell Kosovo as Kosova when it's spelled Kosovo on their own passports and spell Tadic with a q.
Double standards I guess.

“Serbia will do everything it can before the date of its entrance into the EU to take care of all conflicts in the region and solve the Kosovo problem. Serbia does not want a lasting conflict that would sooner or later endanger our national and civilian interests,” Tadić said.

Looks like, no one will ask Serbia to recognize Kosovo before joining EU, this is not MUST, but Serbia will everything it can, to solve this issue before entering EU. Ok. I see this as very positive stand of Serbian president. He finally admits, Kosovo issue will HAVE to be solved before joining EU. Otherwise, NO EU... Wake up...

Serbs in Kosovo “do not want to accept the sovereignty of the so-called state of Kosovo on the entire territory”, he said.

Is he claiming partition?!!! Well, some of Kosovo politicians, coming from very top of parliament have already elaborated conditions how could this be achieved, having in consideration the fact that Albanians in Presevo valey (Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja) do not want to accept sovereignty of the so-called state of Serbia on their territory too.

With all respect towards all posters, this is just how I understand Tadic's sentences presented in this article. I am not trying to prejudice the future, I am just elaborating with his sentences.

What I don't understand is, why resolution for Sebrenica should be named with soft word knowing all what happened there? If Serbia condemns the act that was claimed to be in the name of Serbian People, and Serbia does not agree it has been done in their name, than word genocide should not be left out from this resolution. After all, you say, you are condemning this issue, you don't agree it was done on the name of Serbia. And of course, Srebrenica should be moved away from the borders of Serpska Republika.

And, yeah... I am an Albanian living in Kosovo. just, so you would all know, I am not trying to hide my identity. I never did.

As far as relations with Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Republic of Srpska are concerned, Tadić said that Serbia remains a guarantor of the Dayton Peace Accord and that it will be openly against all initiatives that could endanger its heritage. Some heritage Tadić Srpska has and Serbs murder, ethnic cleansing ,burning looting rape their Bosnian neighbours of coarse you support it yore a Serb. How about condemning it and the injustice and making it rite. Not smoke and mirrors to make Serbs and Serbia seemingly look presentable yore not fooling any one maybe just the Serbs. Rev 9:21 Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their immorality or their thefts. 2Th 2:11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie
2Th 2:12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

Kosovari, the Serbian language does not have a "Q" in its alphabet. Please remember that you are on a Serbian site, not an Albanian one - although I must say, there appear to be more Albanians here than Serbs but, anyway, TADIC is correct in all his actions, and I applaud him. Too bad that Pristina does not have young and pragmatic leaders like Serbia's president, and the newly elected president of Croatia. Kosovo, Albania, and Montenegro are still straddled with their old guard, and they will go nowhere with them. Once these old relics are put to sleep, maybe the Balkans can move forward to the 21st century?

Tadiq, of course you are raising Serbia's credibility by walking out on meetings. That is very politically mature of you and your colleagues.

Milosevic (the Albanian) - Now that's a new one. You're obviously part of the Albanian Diaspora or younger than 20 years old becuase it was TITO in charge of YUGOSLAVIA, NOT Milosevic+Serbia involved in wars.

but then again, it's easy to say that it was Serbia who were persecuting the Albo's for the last 100 years! You got what you deserved after starting a terrorist campaign. what goes around comes around. if you think "kosova" will be a peaceful albanian state then you must be delusional. no serb living in "kosova" will allow that to happen.

Although I don't agree with the Kosovo issue, I'm glad that Tadic, the preisdent of Serbia, is finaly tackeling the Srebenica massacre and trying to take atleast a minimal ammount of responsibility.

The Srebenica Massacre was masterminded by a Serbian general who was a lackey of Milosovic. Serbs in Serbia were not aware but that doesn't exclude them from their responsibilities, one of them being to keep the people that ran the country in check.

If we look back 5 years, Serbia taking responsibility for Srebenica seemed nearly impossible.

A lot of the rabid nationalists will continue to rail against Tadic, but I believe that he is right on every point in the article. Given the mess that Serbia was left in, his policy is the best available that is likely to achieve anything. Nationalist rhetoric will just isolate Serbia and make action essentially impossible. As regards looking 'east' - that won't work either despite the dreams of some.

There is a stigma on Serbia - particularly in the highly visible example of Srebrenica - that needs to be answered and which is being properly addressed by the proposed declaration. The world does need to know that Serbia has properly faced up to what happened.

Unfortunately, nationalist arguments typically take little note of the terrible effects on people's lives and will serve to undermine the declaration. I hope therefore that they will see that murder does nothing for their reputation or for the reputation of Serbia. Anyone who does not sign up unreservedly is leaving Serbia in the black hole.

I hope that even those rabid nationalists will share the good intent of this and put Serbia's reputation in the world ahead of their own prejudices for once.

"try to do it in a way that does not leave irreparable consequences"

Serbia left irreparable consequence regarding Kosovo as early as 1980. So it is 30 years too late.
