We have tried on many occasions to help give the children from these camp a day out to the sea side, or up to the fresh mountainous air of one of Serbia's sky resorts or to your silver lake. We have approached many people within Serbia (including B92) but the response is always the same.

And I don't hear Amnesty International scream bloody murder at the EU and "Kosova" over these sub-human living conditions befalling the Romas when they go back to paradise-on-earth.

This I can answer easily. You see during the Vietnam war years the Russian intelligence services started the peace movement in the west so to counter that the US began to use the human rights groups, which were very small organizations in the 1950 and early 60s – these were started with the noblest of intentions. However, these human rights advocates then obtained huge funding from the west to scream about you know what behind the Iron Curtain. With that funding came a change of leadership within these organizations, more attuned to US policies.
You just have to go back to the 1990s - the Balkan wars and see just how “unbiased” Amnesty International was in its reportage. During the “rape” campaign waged against the Serbs where they were supposed to be using rape on non-Serb women as a weapon.
The hype was at a level never seen before and Amnesty took the bait hook line and sinker making a report blaming Serbs for this crime. The report was finally pulped, but not before the blame was placed on our doorstep. I later leant that some in Amnesty were greatly concern about their reputation if at a later stage it came out that they were part of the western propaganda machine. From that time onwards I have never donated a penny to any of these organizations.
You see the free press in the west only reports on the other side never theirs and Amnesty relies on government funding so you know what happens. How many times have you read in your newspapers about Amnesty taking up Gittmo Bay with the White House? In mine, I cannt remember the last time.

This is just serbian propaganda ;-)
Come on everyone here knows that "kosova" is the best "country" in the world and treat their minorities with the highest respect.
I mean, it was even written in an article in "koha Ditore" that said that minorities were well treated in "Kosova", and they would never lie... right?

The west needs to spend a lot more money on its creation.

They really should be very embarrassed about it.

It makes them look really mean.

If you can't send refugees back to a country then this country is not on the level the EU wants it to be. For sure!

So why are we bothering about 'independent Kosovo' if this 'country' isn't even safe for its 'own' citizen.

Conclusion: this whole Kosovo independence is a farce!

In a report published last summer, Human Rights Watch said that the Roma district in the northern city of Kosovska Mitrovica was attacked by ethnic Albanians in June 1999.

"By June 24, the district had been looted and burned to the ground, and its 8,000 inhabitants had fled. Many were resettled by the UN in camps in a heavily contaminated area located near a defunct lead mine. The move was originally intended to be temporary, yet about 670 Roma still live in camps near the site, with damaging consequences for their health," said the report.

So long for the youngest "democracy" in the world.
Shame on Eu to close their eyes, shame on my country and particularly on our FM who lied to our govnt in confirming that minorities were beeing protected,
can't say anything on Pristina because what can one expect from a bunch of criminals that are more interested in their own pockets and in fueling the nationalists than addressing the mountain of problems that 1244 has!

And the criminals in Pristina want even more land, and the people on it, to abuse anything and anyone not Albanian. Just keep your faces out of the North of Kosovo, you have impoverished enough of your own citizens already.

I am calling on European countries to stop the forcible return until Kosovo is ready to secure the necessary conditions of life, medical care, education, social services and jobs,” he said.

-According to UN statistics, 2,500 people from EU countries were returned to Kosovo in 2009.-

This is the real reason Europe supports an independent Kosovo. Serbia might think that recognizing Kosovo was an evil deed but it is marely trying to save you from Albanians. Serbia enjoys visa free travel and an increase in investments from both Europe and the US. If Albanians were respected the same they would have had the same privelages. They ain't and everyone can draw their own conclusion to why that is. However, it won't hide the obvious truth.

I don't know which country you reside, but i can tell you that romas in every single west europen country in live in worst conditions. I have seen it with my own eye in Rome,Italy , romas living in junkyard. They turn old rusty buses into their homes.
Speaking baout romas in that particular area, is no ones foult but theirs. All romas in Peja,Gjakova and other cities live in their own neighborhood and walk freely without any problem at all. actually mots of them have jobs, unlike K-Albanians.
Roma's problem is that ; what they earn today they spend it today and never think about tomorrow. Its in their blood.
