I get so tired of reading these posts that Kostunica is weak and ineffective as a politician. Do you think that much of that "negativism" towards Kostunica is because of Western efforts to marginalize him....knowing that he is the last politician that the EU, UK and US wish to deal with. Nearly verything that Kostunica says is truthful and to the point (something that many Serbs choose to turn a deaf ear towards), and is meant to keep Serbia alive and sovereign- something completely against the West's agenda for Serbia. So, through all of the Western NGO's and heavy political and financial efforts by the West, Kostunica and the DSS are still a moral voice for Serbia. No man is perfect and yes, Kostunica made some major flaws in his first two terms as PM- however, many of his problems were the result of a few close associates, some of whom, I was told, were arrogant, untrustworthy, and the cause of much of Kostunica's tarnished image. Look around Serbs....do you feel that you can trust Tadic and his government more than Kostunica and a DSS coalition? The West is trying to manipulate public opinion for Tadic and against Kostunica- plain and simple. New elections should be called for, if for no other reason than Tadic has proven himself to be a pawn of the West- and Kostunica seems to be the most patriotic politician who doesn't want Serbia to die.

What did he achieve during his two terms? Does he really think he did more for Serbia than the current government in shorter time?

The answer is very simple, not much... just look at all the messy privatizations done under his govnt!

Good because that means there is no chance for that guy to be re-elected. The same old tired policies....that he and his type brought the country to ruin in the decades that followed since WW2
