I believe that it is up to the Montenegrins to choose whether they want to cultivate their national identity or whether they want to melt it into the Serbian one.

However, the future may work towards a division, precisely because the Serbs have little patience and understanding for the others. Their lack of respect for Montenegrins shows and hurts.

Olli,

Perhaps you should read about the migrations too? Then lets talk about Raska and Zeta. Then lets talk about the empires that crossed through and died in the Balkans...
There is so much to info out there, but yet we are the product of that history, and divided we sit behind imaginery lines in the sand in the same backyard.

RE: Surprising statements from Vujanovic

Well, maybe Vujanovic is not Serbian or Montenegrin for that matter, in name only.

To repeat again, the founding nations of Serbia are Raska and Gora which are present day Serbia and Montenegro. Part of Metoxia still exists in current day Montenegro. It is an insult to all Serbs and Montenegrins the provocative statements coming from some Ministers of the Montenegrin nation. They have sold the nation to the highest bidder; Serbia is not too far behind.

The Montenegrins are copying the policies of FYROM, Kosovo and the rest of the banana republics to deny the truth of history.

urge all those who aren't aware of the existence of the Montenegrin identity to visit a book store or library and collect material for further studies. Same goes with those who know nothing about Montenegrin state(s) before the forced annexation to the Kingdom of Serbia and thereafter to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. Olli ---

Resources please.

It is true that there are citizens of Montenegro who don't regard themselves having an identity separate from Serbian but the number of those who do regard themselves Montenegrin, and not Serbian, is greater.

If you think that we need God to create separate identities and nations... you must study the processes that have created Montenegrin identity and nation. It isn't written in chromosomes -it's a specific historic process, and not a matter that must have existed from the beginning of time. Negating this is only willful ignorance, a phenomenon of placing your head in a dark closet and throwing key away. From which a surprisingly large number of people get their satisfaction.

In case some serb posters are not aware, I would like to remind them that; Montengrian Kingdoom is much older than Serbian. Also, there is a big difference between Montengrian and Serbian people.

Dear mr Vujanovic, don't bother to much that its humiliating, just add some extra astroglide and then everything that the Americans orders you to will get done much more easy.

Please do not blame the people of Montenegro for this. True, there are some who just do not have it all there to think that they are a separate nationality.

However I must assure you that Montenegro is still very Serbian. The people voted the Serbian Orthodox Church the most trusted institution in the country. Montenegro is still filled with Serbian monasteries and despite what the referendum said, most people still believe they are Serbian.

This drive for a separate "Montenegrin" identity was started by Tito's regime in Montenegro. And has been since carried on by Titoist decedents and opportunist, cigarette smugglers who realized they could not carry out their operations while being governed by Beograd. So they (Djukanovic & Co.) decided to push for a separate country in which they can govern themselves and get away with illegal operations.

Djukanovic realized that if he still lived under a Belgrade governed country, the authorities would have eventually turned him over to Italian authorities. However now since he is a head of state, he cannot be extradited.

The country of Montenegro will only exist as long as the Titoist mafia is still in charge. It is very difficult to get rid of them because since they have been in power, they allow minimal coverage of the opposition, pass laws without the consent of the people and keep most state funds to themselves.

I assure you, if recognition of Kosovo independence was put to a referendum in Montenegro, it would not have passed. Djukanovic knows this very well, that is why he didn't put it to a referendum for fear of failure.

But his time will come soon, I just hope its not too late for the sake of the Serbian nation.

Why should the Patriarch speak with this former communist atheist? "montenegrins" and Serbs are the same people and this american stooge can't change Serbian history.

The truth hurts, doesn't it Vujanovic? They are the same people indeed, despite the fact that the current government has inflicted great shame on the Montenegrin Serbs, hopefuly this will change with elections and Njegos can stop turning in his grave.

They have to shut their mouths. The Patriach should'nt even have said this statement because we are not the same people, not blood brothers any more. We let these people come into serbia and study at our universities, etc and they want to attack us, especially Dukanovic. Its time for us to separate from every country of the former yugoslavia and take back what was once ours.
