A study done in 1871 by Austrian colonel Peter Kukulj in mutesarifluk of Prizren (present day kosovo)
* 318,000 Serbs (64%),
* 161,000 Albanians (32%),
* 10,000 Roma (Gypsies) and Circassians
* 2,000 Turks

now in 1948: 727,820 total inhabitants:
* 498,242 Albanians (68.46%) * 171,911 Serbs (23.62%)
* 28,050 Montenegrins (3.86%) * 11,230 Roma (1.54%)

Especially after 1961, 103,000 Serbs and Montenegrins have left Kosovo, mainly due to mistreatment by Albanian authorities and population!!

1971: 1,243,693 total inhabitants
* 916,168 Albanians or 73.7%
* 228,264 Serbs (18.4%)
* 31,555 Montenegrins (2.5%)
* 26,000 Slavic Muslims (2.1%)
* 14,593 Romas (1.2%)
* 12,244 Turks (1.0%)
Just have a look on the demographic development of kosovo and u will see what the albanian assimilation and terrorism against serbs did (figures from wikipedia)
cheers!!

Serbian population in Kosovo should decrease naturally for 27,000.
(Jeton, 6 February 2010 06:05)
No "naturally" - but becouse Albanian attack against Serbs in 80's.

These are official data of Serbs living in Kosovo 1981 total population of 194,190, official Serbian growth rate is -0.48% since 1981 Serbian population in Kosovo should decrease naturally for 27,000. In Kosovo now should be around 168,000 Serbs. Calculating by simple math it is impossible to have 200 K displaced Serbians from Kosovo

Official Yugoslav statistical corrections and projections, with the help of previous census results (1948-1981):

1,956,196 Total populations

1,596,072 Albanians (81.6%)
194,190 Serbs (9.9%)
66,189 Muslims (3.4%)
45,760 Romas (2.34%)
20,365 Montenegrins (1.04%)
10,445 Turks (0.53%)
8,062 Croats (Janjevci) (0.41)
3,457 Yugoslavs (0.18%)
11,656 others (0.6%)

Jonny,

Absolutely fair question about the participation of "the priest" in a political gathering.

It tell me how Serbian government have been using and are using the religion for political purpose.
It is pathetic but hey these kinds of "priests" should be treated like any other radical nationalist politian. Full stop! Have a great and peaceful weekend!

What is a priest doing preaching politics.
(johny, 5 February 2010 19:36)

Probably the same thing as the Pope in the Vatican, many imams in the Middle East, and those preachers like Pat Robertson and his ilk in the US.

"The assembly also asked the government in Belgrade to clearly demonstrate that the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty are more important than its Euro-Atlantic integrations."

Amen!

The assembly also asked the government in Belgrade to clearly demonstrate that the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty are more important than its Euro-Atlantic integrations. Ilić also noted that Belgrade had “given up on the six-point plan”.

Do you hear that Tadic? What happened to your 6 point plan? Why did you allow EULEX to deploy while they are now prepared to assist the Feith. Are you going to strengthen our institutions in the north (and elsewhere)? The best thing to do now is to call elections.

Strong signal from citizens of Republic of Serbia living in Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija, that North can't be "integrate" with illegal pseudostate.

SPC Bishop Artemije, who attended the gathering, said that Serbs in Kosovo expect authorities in Belgrade to strengthen their institutions in Kosovo, “instead of weakening them like before”.

He also said that “if there are divisions between Serbs in Kosovo, they came as the result of the policy of official Belgrade”.

“They are driving wedges between us, because every party in Serbia, whether in government or in opposition, wants to have a stronghold in Kosovo and Metohija, not in order to help us, but rather to manipulate us,” said the bishop.

Religion and politics make for an explosive mix. Our authorities in Prishtina must understand by now that serb priests are using their faith and churches to destabilize and creat conflict in Kosova. Prishtina must respond accordingly.
