Did you live in Albania just after WW2?
Living in Albania in the last 10 years or so does not make you an authority of what happened decades ago.

Keep dreaming of a great Albania. You will never unite.
(Peggy, 1 February 2010 23:29)

Actually, the only impact that Serbia and Russia's non-recognition of Kosovo could have, is Kosovo's merger with Albania.
================

Chris, who will allow them to merge with Albania?
This is what they are striving for now. This is not a consequence of Russia and Serbia not recognising them.

They would merge with Albania yesterday if they could, but they are NOT ALLOWED. Not now, not in the future, so if you see someone allowing them this please let us know who.

The vast majority of Albanians living in Kosovo today are either immigrants, first or second generation of immigrants. The rest arrived after 1999 thinking the US would pave the streets with gold.
It is only in the 1980s and later that they left Kosovo for Albania to escape military service. Hoxha would have shot them as traitors prior to that time.

My father was in the first regular Yugoslav army from 1947 to 1953 and he was stationed in Macedonia and Kosovo; even today as a man in his eights he could find his way around those regions blindfold.
He spent 90% of that time on the border of Yugoslavia and Albania so he does know a few things about Albanian refugees. It is true Albanians have been living in Kosovo for centuries, but nowhere near the current numbers.
The Yugoslav communist party had a policy of providing refugees with housing and jobs so during the late 1940 and 1950s they came over the border in their thousands. My father could not get a job because his family had large holdings so the Albanians were given preferential treatment.

That way N. Mitrovica can go to Serbia and Kosovo does not have to deal anymore with a Russian veto in the UN.

So if that "Great Albania" dream becomes a reality, the only ones to thank or blame (depending on the point of view) would be Serbia and Russia.

That is tottaly untrue. As an orthodox albanian I have no hate but only love for my kosovar brothers. And there was no exodus in Hoxhas time towards Kosovo. As a matter of fact they came in form Kosovo to escape serving in the Yugo army.

Une I think this is simply untrue. Yes I do believe that K-Albs did their utmost best to avoid military service but to claim that K-ALbs were fleeing Kosovo for ALbania (and not vice-versa) is a little over the top.

Just remember that Kosovo is not going anywhere. It might not belong to Serbia at the moment but it eventually will. Kosovo has no future without it being part of Serbia.

The Tosks in the South look down on the Ghegs in the North and despise the K-Albanians even more so. They view the K-Albs as traitors to the Albanian people by renouncing their faith during Ottoman occupation and secondly fleeing from Albania to Kosovo for a better life during Hodza’s rule. There is not a lot of love for the K-Albs by the rest of the Albanians. So it seems the K-Albs really are the unwanted baby at the doorstep.

Well, this latest bit of extreme talk coming from the north was certainly provoked by the recent extreme talk from pristine and the “ICO” colonial office about taking over the north. But both sides need to pull their heads in here.

If only most of the K Serb population lived north of the Ibar it would all be so simple. All the grand talk in the comments below about your new guerrilla struggle for freedom would be fine. But you talk here about how you are not isolated because of the border with Serbia simply demonstrates your callousness towards your brothers and sisters who live in various pockets throughout the south and account for most of the K Serb population. You don’t seem to care that you will isolate the. They have little choice in the real world to cooperate with the majority of the population, including their institutions, that happen to live all around them. After all, for all your croc tears about their suffering, you seem to miss the point that it is precisely them who have suffered from the situation, whereas the Serbs above the Ibar who plan on a heroic guerrilla struggle have never suffered a day since 1999 (actually they expelled a few thousand extra Albanians back in 2001 in scenes similar to the Albanian attacks on Serbs in 2004).

Until the two sides quit their irresponsible provocations and try to set an agenda that addresses the needs not only of the Albanian majority and the Serb majority north of the Ibar, but also the Serbs south of the Ibar and the Albanians in the north – in my opinion through some kind of bi-national federated option in an independent state – then you’re both going to keep living in this state of tension manipulated by outsiders on both sides.

(Peggy, 1 February 2010 23:29)

Despite the desire of many K-Albs wanting to unite with the so-called mother country the truth is that not all Albanians in Albania proper really want the "Kosovars" apart from Berisha and that’s because he’s trying to deflect attention from his poor governing. As Gerrard Gallucci writes:

"EULEX decided it was better not to offend the Albanian majority by reaching accommodations with local Serb institutions and communities that appeared to accept the status quo of continued deep divisions over Kosovo independence. Indeed, EULEX stood back from, and in some cases assisted, Albanian efforts to bully the Serbs into accepting the Kosovo institutions that they dominate. EULEX allowed electricity blockages of southern Serbs and facilitated a forced, unilateral return of Albanians to a sensitive area (Brdjani) of north Mitrovica".

Not sure I understand your point. The north of Kosovo is connected to Serbia with an open administrative border - therefore, unrestricted passage. Unless you were referring to "Kosova", which is pretty much a prison for ethnic Albanians.

Active resistence is the way to go. Serbians need to reject EULEX and Priština at every corner and with all means at their disposal. The message needs to be loud and clear - the North is firmly under Serbian control.

I bet we will take over the north with or without the serbs there. When border 1 and 31 will be controled directly by the goverment in Prishtina serbs can choose to integrate into the Kosvar sociaty or to move to Serbia if they like.

This plan is not just a dream and is being planned to fit the reality. It will work and serbian illegal institutions will not survive in Kosovo after 2010. The goverment in Prishtina with KP, KSF, KFOR and Eulex are to strong for the serbian illegal institutions to handle.

(Zoran, 1 February 2010 22:00)

The reason for that is because they are not using brutal force (like you do) to integrate you into the Kosovo institutions. Soon this will be over with and you will be a Kosovar citizen by all means.

Who are the Serbs of the North isolating themselves from? If I am not mistaken, they border the rest of Serbia, thats no isolation.

Funny how Albanians are standing behind NATO as they once stood behind the NAZI threatening our freedom. Well, we've been in much worse position in the past and still came out victorious. It's a great shame you choose death and destruction over peace and prosperity.

With reference to comments made by naim, the only people isolating themselves are the goons holed up in pristina, given that two thirds of the worlds nation's haven't recognised them. So far as pejoni is concerned, the days of menacing threats are over. Your bulleyboys in uniform can frighten old ladies and defencless teens, but the majority of the population view you with the contempt you deserve pal.

No thanks, if you are not using force then you have absolutely no hope.

So are you trying to say the NAZIs, NATO and the UCK terrorists were not using brutal force? Come now, let me show you the door to reality. Way too much Serbian blood has been spilt throughout history to simply obey some criminals.

The greatest hope for peace and prosperity is a negotiated solution based on mutual respect. Looks like Priština still doesn't understand the meaning of peace. What a shame.

(Milan, 2 February 2010 04:35)

That is tottaly untrue. As an orthodox albanian I have no hate but only love for my kosovar brothers. And there was no exodus in Hoxhas time towards Kosovo. As a matter of fact they came in form Kosovo to escape serving in the Yugo army.

So speak for yourself not for the Albanians. We wont unite because it is better to have two votes everywhere. But if we have to we will

Despite the desire of many K-Albs wanting to unite with the so-called mother country the truth is that not all Albanians in Albania proper really want the "Kosovars" apart from Berisha and that’s because he’s trying to deflect attention from his poor governing. Actually, the only impact that Serbia and Russia's non-recognition of Kosovo could have, is Kosovo's merger with Albania.

That way N. Mitrovica can go to Serbia and Kosovo does not have to deal anymore with a Russian veto in the UN.

So if that "Great Albania" dream becomes a reality, the only ones to thank or blame (depending on the point of view) would be Serbia and Russia.

Yet I have to disagree with the above statement. I have liven in Albania. I attended Medical school with someone form kosovo that had left Yuo and all his male cousins. there was no Exodus ZFrom albania to Kosovo it was the other way around
