All this worry about who is recognizing the “independence of Kosovo, but what about jobs for the locals. Last time I looked all the recognition in the world can’t stop hunger and poverty.
(sj, 30 January 2010 03:21)

It looks like you really CARE about unemployement in Kosova. So how would the unemployement rate be, if we have'nt had any recognition?

Serbia has support from 66% of the world's governments - representing 85% of the world's people. That's very impressive. Great Job Vuk!
(Rod, 29 January 2010 14:29)

Not sure where you got this... The last time the world countries were polled about Kosovo (i.e. when they voted in secret ballot for Kosovo's admission to IMF & World Bank), 109 of them said Kosovo is a country and should be admitted. That does not sound to me support for Serbia !!!

I wouldn't be opposed to visas for all Serb citizens for sure.

Fat chance. Your so-called authorities in Pristina could not even enact their goal to make Serbs crossing the boundary use passports. Cany you say, "licna karta?" :)

Kosovo-USA,

To further prove that you are ill-informed yet again, allow me to give you some statistics:

Christian population: 63%
Muslim population: 34%

Ethiopia, after Armenia, is the oldest Christian country in the world - with a majority of Christians being Orthodox.

The term "towel head" while offensive, is used mainly to describe Arabs and Muslims of the Middle East. You missed the mark badly with your latest slur.

Why the heck would you assume I'm kidding anyone? I am not sure, how should I see individuals that are against my interest, against the interest of my contry? What should think about them? Why would Jeremic be affraid of speaking in presence of Albanians? Why would he insist on further dialogue with Albanians, if he continually runs away from them? Or maybe, he would like to speak to Albaians (dialogue) in the presence of Russia and behind closed doors (where he could say whatever they want and than. Once they go out, no one would kow, what was spoken there, so they could claim whatever they want)...
Recognition of any contry / union is important for Kosovo, some more some less but still important. Anyhow, soon or later, I believe this will hapen. I am just surprised, why Kosovo goverment does not react on same way... Contrys that have imposed visas to Kosovo, should be asked for visas, in order to entry Kosovo, while the ones that have not recognised Kosovo, should no be allowed to enter in Kosovo at all. They are here, in various missions, earning a lot of money and still, not recognising Kosovo, not becasue of facts, not because of Serbia but because of the ongoing issues in their homes. come on guys, we live in 21st century. Time of occupators has died. Everybody should be equally rspected. Contries that haven't recognised Kosovo independance will have to do so as soon as possible and use this glorious wisdom and solve their problems at their homes. Posters that have been against Montenegors (macedonias, croatias, slovenias etc) independance saying the can not survive alone, are already convinced this was not good statement because they live WONDERFUL. A - your comment about African states and international law was perhaps the most uninformed contribution I have ever read here. (Quite some feat!) International politics is based on sovereignty, which is the theoretical equality of all states. As fir your tosh about UNGA resolutions being void under international law, I simply have no idea what you are going on about there. Really, you might do yourself some favours and read a few books on international politics before writing such utter rubbish.

Chris

pre 14 godina

The African council respects international law - whereas the US/EU trample on it to suit themselves. I applaud the honest and principled Ethiopians in rejecting entry for the Albanians - countries that respect the law, should stick together against the corrupt empires.
(svojgazda, 28 January 2010 18:01)

then why Serbia has not applied to join the virtuous AU instead of the evil EU ?

thepsycho

pre 14 godina

now that AU got Serbia's support when Serbia will be in EU Africa has no more reason to fear poverty, thirst, hunger, corruption, AIDS, killings, civil wars, discrimination. Its all over. VUK "TITO" Jeremic will be there to help Africa overcome all problems. What a pathetic stand. I understand that Jeremic's job is to convince more and more countries not to recognize Kosovo but there are more elegant political moves to do that. I think such speech is an insult to all AU participants and to Serbian politics as well.

Peggy

You have many countries in Africa but as far as the international law is concerned their votes are not worth that much. 'In addition, Eritrea was the most economically viable part of Ethiopia (just as Kosovo was for Serbia).'

Mirub, your post made some sense until you wrote that bit. Is it your opinion that Serbia has been a drain on Kosovo resources, that Trepca has enough minerals to make every citizen of Jugoslavija - never mind Serbia, rich? I can hear the echo of generations of nationalists who pass this kind of grivience down the generations. I must say I have heard some pretty silly claims from Kosovo Serbs along those lines also, although that was alcohol assisted.

From my logical perspective there are reasons why Kosovo should remain in Serbia, but were it purely an economical question I would ditch it.

Thats not a Serb talking, that somebody who thinks that the economy / economic factors are absolutely crucial in understanding the relationship between states.

Jeremic has pressurised the Ethiopian government not to allow the Albanian delegation to participate in a peaceful gathering.

Unbelievable! Jeremic like his predecessor is scared to death by Albanian force of argument in favor in the legitimacy. Two points I would like to make. If the Kosova delegation would have been allowed in the gathering what Jeremic would have done? Run away as he has done in the past? Or not show up? On the other side Jeremic with his forceful and hostile attitude towards Albanian is doing nothing less but irritating Albanians. Well done as Serbia's Foreign Minister!

(lids, 28 January 2010 15:45)

First of all it is not yet confirmend that Hyseni asked for a visa. Vuk should bring some more reliable information. Even if Adis Abeba rejected the visa for Hyseni, I do not think they did it because of Jeremic. So, this guy shouldn´t sell everything is going about Kosovo as his personal victory. The depot of Vuk´s munition is going to be empty soon and he is using such cheap arguments to satisfy himself then the Serbian policy. The damage he is doing for Serbia towards important partners is higher than his victory on such conferences. There are more diplomatic and professional means to fight for Serbia then to ask everybody not to reckognise Kosovo. He is even destroying every possible bridge or tunnel for any potential negotiations as he pretend to achieve.

HaHa, It's amazing how an ordinary country like Ethiopia understands diplomatic protocol better than the united states. Kosovo is unrecognized by a majority of the world and not a member of the UN, so it is not admitted into international meetings. Yet the us constantly pushes them into Security Council meetings and sneaks them into General Assembly meetings. It is this tactic that dooms Kosovo as a failed state. It is no secret that the reason why Kosovo does not have worldwide recognition has nothing to do with Balkan conflicts but more to do with worldwide hatred of the us and the puppet regimes it supports.

As long as Serbia is concerned and employeed in campaign to halt Kosovo instead of looking to score economic points or developmental integration with countries that at least have a moderate record of human rights or don't beg for food. Basically, Serbia lives up to the saying "one step forward, two steps backwards".
As it seems delaying defeat is a battle won but the war is deemed to be lost.

now that AU got Serbia's support when Serbia will be in EU Africa has no more reason to fear poverty, thirst, hunger, corruption, AIDS, killings, civil wars, discrimination. Its all over. VUK "TITO" Jeremic will be there to help Africa overcome all problems. What a pathetic stand. I understand that Jeremic's job is to convince more and more countries not to recognize Kosovo but there are more elegant political moves to do that. A battle won by Jeremic. But, war continues.

One has to understand Ethiopia and their stand on Kosovo issue for Eritrea declared independence as it turned Ethiopia into an landlocked country (just as Montenegro did to Serbia).
In addition, Eritrea was the most economically viable part of Ethiopia (just as Kosovo was for Serbia).

I can hear the echo of generations of nationalists who pass this kind of grivience down the generations.
