Greatest leader in croatian military history in a long time.

Your great Croatian military leader was only a corporal in the French Foreign Legion prior to his generalship. It’s very easy to “win” a victory when it was agreed to withdraw JNA units from Krajina region beforehand. If I was you I’d keep quiet and stop bragging about gotovina, in fact I have listened to this man speak and he could not lead a herd of goats let alone an army.

marko Gotovina is a convicted criminal, something not even denied by his supporters.
Now one of his supporters below says he supplied bombs to the IRA.
And he is on trial at the Hague for war crimes.

'MI6 want Gotovina for the explosives used in bombing their HQ that was supplied to the IRA'

Thanks for that Mark. Now we know that Gotovina was a terrorist, as well as a criminal, as well as a suspected war criminal.
So let him off you say. Hah!

On this at least we find common cause with the British.
Perhaps Gotovina only did what he was ordered but according to command responsbility he must take responsiblity for the war crimes committed against Serb civilians.

Perhaps the documents never existed in the first place.
The only reason this is becoming an issue now is because the ICTY case Gotovina et al is not going well for the prosecution. The charges concerning Knin artillery were always a fantasy and politically contrived (MI6 want Gotovina for the explosives used in bombing their HQ that was supplied to the IRA). Now the prosecution is trying to save face with a claytons request ie request documents that the govt cannot conceivably produce because they never existed in the first place.

Justin,

Did we read the same article on which we were commenting? It clearly stated that documents were missing and that these documents have been requested for a while. I was merely speculating what these documents may contain. It may be that there was very sensitive information and that it was decided to destroy the documents. The artillery logbooks may contain what kind of shells were used and based on this the origin may be determined. It is well known that Ceku fought on the Croatian side and that the former US ambassador of Croatia was riding along on a Croatian tank. It is also known that the US air force bombed Serbian communication and that the West provided military aid, training, and support to Croatia and that "Operation Storm" endangered the lives of Canadian UN soldiers. Eventually Croatia may hand over documents, but just like many companies they may have kept a double bookkeeping. If this documentation was not important The Hague would not ask for it and Croatia would not spend 14+ years delaying insight. The problem I have is that very few Croatians and Western politicians and military have been charged by The Hague for this event despite all the evidence and that The Hague has been much less aggresive towards Croatia than towards Serbia for much less serious events during the Yugoslav civil war. It is because THe West sided with Croatia and it will do all to prevent loosing face. By the way, if you call me Milane please use your slavic name instead of some American on.

"IF the original documents still exist and IF they will be handed over a lot of dirty laundry will be exposed, including the direct involvement of the US and Germany plus the presence of the current and former "leadership" in Pristina. This publicly known information cannot be exposed to the ignorant masses in the West for it would be an enormous embarressment to the political elite there. History has already been written according to their prospectives and goals and cannot be changed or is not up for a new interpretation. May the truth set them free and may they fear the unevitable that eventually will come to those who have hide it for too long."

Milane, since the documents have not been seen by anyone, how do you know what it contains and what it will and will not prove?

Brammertz commended the decision of Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor to constitute a working group for the issue.

After so many years a working will be constitute... what a joke.

It is clear that countries like Germany which have been blindly supporting Croatia's EU access are the first one that do not want this to happen...

Hopefully the Dutch will wait aroun the corner and remain that the balkan war chapter is not closed yet and still a few countries have to clean their acts!!

I wonder where Josipovic will stand on all this and if he will use his personal power to push the government to surrendering these documents.
