""Hmmm... the last time I checked 96 countries (i.e. the majority of the countries) agreed that Kosovo is indeed a country when they voted for it's admission to the IMF. Can you please explain where do base your assertion that Kosovo is not a country ?

Of course I can explain you! To recognise a country is a political decision that each country can make for it's own reasons. But more importantly is to check if this country is a member of the most important international organizations or not. So I "base my assertion" from the fact that:
1) Kosovo is not a member of the UN (like proper countries are) and
2) Kosovo is not recognised by my own country.

From our perspective (as well as from Spanish and others perspective) Kosovo is NOT country and most importantly it will should never be...

Of course you can choose and feel good if american puppets or muslim countries recognise you (like the joke with... Republic of Mauritania) but the important thing is to have the neighbouring countries recognize you because you cannot operate as a proper country otherwise. sO, With Serbia and Greece as hostile to your own existence, and with Spain and other big countries to take initiatives to prevent your international recognition by all means, I don't think you have a future as a separate state entity at all...

I find it interested that the Balkan bloggers tend to see thinks always in the negative side of them. Even if they aren't that way, it seems that we are all masters on switching them to be negative.

This is a positive initiative for everyone in the Balkans as well as in the EU. EU has interest in having EU as part of the union because it needs to secure its boarders, to create a good image internationally, and to expand its markets and have safe gas transit countries. EU's last wish would be to have a country in the Balkans be a puppet country for an anti-EU power.

In this statement all the countries of the Balkans are mentioned.

I doubt it will happen by 2014 but it could happen by 2020.

(Kosovo) is not... even a country, but an illegal state entity that was violently separated from Serbia some years ago.

Both Fyrom and Kosovo are not included in the Greek plan, be sure about this. The first one (Fyrom) is a totally artificial country that will not exist in some decades, and the second one (Kosovo) is not... even a country, but an illegal state entity that was violently separated from Serbia some years ago.

Greece of course will do that with cooperation with other countries. Last week it was Spain, this week is Austria. And be sure that it will happen for most countries. About the situation of the Greek economy that some people commented here, Greece still today is 20 years in front of every single balkan state, having by far the biggest and the most developed economy. So, don't worry about the Greek economy but worry about your illegal or artificial countries will not exist in some decades...

Greek farmers are blocking for a week now the only inner land EU border they have the one with Bulgaria. The Greek govermnent doesn't do anything to assure the basic EU right of free movement. Apparantly Grece is not a good EU member. How could it be an advocat to other countries?

All this "initiative" are pointless...In this case is easy to say that Greece is bankrupt and Austria is not a big European power...Same as for what other countries say..Only The Bundskanzelier will give thums up or down regarding new enlargement..Let's wait when Angela will talk about Western Balkan...

From one hand the greek block Macedonia eu membership and on the other hand says it wants all balkans in the eu in 2014. Hypocrisy at its best. Everyone knows that is impossible to have all Western Balcan been integrated in the EU at the same time.'cos each of this country has a different situation. Greek the good neighbour, does someone believe this?? All this eu members are taking the maximum benefit from their neighbors, using and abusing their position as members of the club.

""getting all Western Balkan countries into the European Union by 2014.""

Of course Greece is only talking (and working on it...) about the real countries and not illegal or artificial ones. The artificial ones will just be "cancelled" as they will have no prospect of getting anywhere, ever after that date or near that...

PS: Just wait and see the other "initiatives" keep coming in the coming months...
