Serbia's EU candidacy frozen until June.(according to the western media)

Here we have reason to Jeremic's desperate reaction, got cold feet from Brussels.
Wondering why the B92 does not write about it.

De facto you will stay the black hole of Europe,de jure part of Serbia and we Serbs can settle for that until our opportunity comes...

Nice, it appears everybody agrees here. Albanians too are happy about this status quo (which they interpret as independence).

So (except for the labeling - black hole or independence) both sides appear happy with the current status.

Each time the Serbian leaders are desperate as they are right now, something big happens, Jeremic tell us what you heard in Brussels?

"For Belgrade, ICO doesn’t exist"

Vuk Jeremic

I am glad that you admit that ICO doesn't exist for Belgrade. ICO is strictly related to Kosovo. It is made to monitor it's constitution and Serbia should have nothing to do with it.

Micheal Breathnach

The International Civilian Office (ICO) is an utter catastrophe.
Even many of its staff feel disillusioned; they don't know whether they are coming or going.
ICO doesn't even have a legal mandate. The sooner ICO leaves KiM the better for all concerned.
Sorry, Mr.Feith but sadly, you were the pawn in an experiment that went terribly wrong. You should look on the bright side though, you still have your Dutch Army pension to fall back on.

demi,

look i know that you are frustrated and keep telling yourself that everything will be alright for you people.
If you Albanians couldn`t de jure take Kosovo out of Serbia in 1999 with virtually the Whole Western world on your side it is NEVER,believe me,NEVER going to happen.
Russia and China will keep the UN1244 in force, and will keep our southern province out of the UN and Spain and other countries within the Euroatlantic structures will block EVERY accession to EU and NATO.
Also recognitions will start being revoked with Russia and Chinas surge and Americas demise.
This is the reality my friend, geopolitics is no childplay and no wishful thinking or stubborness is going to change that.

Is it just me to see all these inconsistencies and contravercies coming from Jeremic or what?

Just yesterday a article said: EU: "No discussion on candidacy
25 January 2010 | 12:38 | Source: Beta
BRUSSELS -- Serbia’s EU candidacy will not be discussed during the two-day EU Council of Ministers session that begins on Monday"

Only today Jeremic says: in a series of meetings, where Serbia’s EU integration and also Kosovo were discussed.

Last week: Tadic:"Only Unmik is a legal representation in accordance with 1244"

Today:“We can speak with EULEX and everyone else that has a legal mandate in Kosovo in accordance with Resolution 1244 of the UN Security Council,” Jeremić said.

Mr Jeremic ICO is the civilian arm of EULEX. It consists people of EULEX countries, it's financed by EULEX countries, it speaks when EULEX tells it to do so.

Let not forget the great "slip-up" during the Greek FM visit in Serbia when Jeremic referred to neighboring Macedonia when he said that Serbia understood Greece’s position regarding "the name of the country that has Skopje as its capital city" Nov. 19, 09.

The very next day; Tadic: We support and recognize Macedonia...

Mr Tadic: It is time to show who is the ALFA VUK.

Demi

Jeremić warned that there must be no more unilateral moves, stating that there have been “too many already” and that “cooperation is needed”.

Poor Jeremic are you begging on your knees to K.albanians to negotiate with you ?`Well we are not interested in autonomy within Serbia and we can settle with everything else apart from that. But right now we are good with our independece recogized by the most powerful countrys of the world. Kosovo is independent and the north will be integrated without trouble. Serb citizens of northern Kosovo will soon realise that they cannot count their future on Belgrade becauser Belgrade with not have any instituitions in North kosovo as it does not have in south. South and North will unite and everybody will rule their lives in their own community's under the rule of law and the democratic state of Kosovo.

Kosovo will not be ''un-independent'' if anybody thinks that. More recognition will come and Kosovo will be an EU and Un member in the future. Serbia cannot enter EU without having some kind of cooperation directly with the goverment in Prishtina. That will be the recognition of Kosovo by Serbia. We all know about this condition and that it will be put in force in the near future.

The ICO has absolutely no official status under international law. It is not sanctioned by the UN. It is an imposed institution.

Serbia will co-operate with the EUSR inasmuch as it is officially status neutral (though obviously not in practice). The question is when will Feith finally overstep the mark and those countries that oppose the UDI put their foot down and demand his removal or else insist that the two roles be split. I am hoping sooner rather than later.

By the way, Reuters are reporting an unnanmed Western diplomat as stating that if the Serbs refuse to co-operate then the strategy will have to be rethought and that nothing will take place by force. That seems to be a clear message for Belgrade to ignore this latest bluster. It seems designed to placate the KAs and keep them calm, rather than mark a serious effort to impose a solution on the K Serbs - a step that few serious observers believe would work.

ben

ICO led by Pieter Feith “does not exist” for official Belgrade, because it is not in accordance to international law.

Upssss but just few months ago you signed the agreement exactly with ICO which together with Brussels was pressuring and humiliating Prishtina so they could sign the agreement with you so you could get the visa-liberalisation. And now for the same BG you are illegal and inexistent.

Now I am really having a good time of laugh.

The naives in Brussels thought that in Belgrade there is a genuine democratic regime that respects the deals that they sign... no no no my dear naive fat cats in Brussels.... BG knows only to impose her will and never respect others.

We still have to see a real cultural democratic turn in Serbia- we hope and pray but the democracy for the BG fat cats is same concept as for the one in Minsk. This is the said reality called Serbia.
