why don't you conduct a referendum and find out? If they can't join Dublin, they might just prefer independence to continued subjugation by London. In at least a couple of the provinces, Roman Catholics are already a clear majority. In any case the Brits are obviously not doing a good job in Ulster given the current poltical impasse.

why don't they invite Ahtisaari to mediate? He can propose independence for N Ireland without the right to join Ireland.
