LOL at Mircea and his machiavellian lions to glorify the EU.

Farmers throughout the EU continue to be poorer then their U.S. counterparts, despite significantly more government aid.

The farmers do not benefit, as research from anti-CAP UK has shown corporations, not farmers benefit.

Also. Farm subsidies are immoral. They cause over production and this food is then dumped into poor countries, whose local economies are hurt and as a result they can't feed themselves (Friedman before he died did a study, the rich ending farm subsidies would stabilize the market and help lift 600 million out of poverty). Given this reality, it's abundantly clear that the CAP is evil, and not a good argument to entice people to join the union.

Leonidas,

The Common Agricultural Policy needs to be reformed. Dacian Ciolos from Romania will be the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development.

One of his objectives is to reform the Common Agricultural Policy.

Leonidas,

Greek, Romanian and Bulgarian farmers benefit from the direct payments under the Common Agricultural Policy.

Greek farmers receive nearly 600 euros per hectare of arable land as direct payments from the Common Agricultural Policy.

Out of all the farmers in the EU Greek farmers receive the greatest amount of money per hectare of arable land.

Your comment probably implies that all Greek farmers are millionaires. If that was the case they wouldn't be currently on the streets blocking highways and ports.
You also haven't mentioned the blockades by French,Spanish,Italian and Belgian farmers in November and December of 2009 complaining about falling milk and other dairy product prices.Millions of gallons of milk were dumped in the sewers.

You also forgot to mention that Sweden and other Northen EU countries want Agricultural export subsidies, intervention subsidies and production subsidies to be phased out completely by 2013, leaving only subsidies for environmental protection.

To Velja

Why is it necessary for Serbia to join the EU and risk losing its independence and identity? Why Serbia cannot continue to trade as a free nation with any country in the world?

If Australia,New Zealand and Canada can export their agricultural products thousands of miles across Europe why not Serbia.
Why Serbia cannot develop its trading relations with countries in the East.I don't see Brazil,India,Russia
or China belonging to any exclusive club.

The EU monster hasn't been created for the benefit of the people but for the bankers of basle, the free masons and the one world goverment globalists.Serbia has the luxuty and time to stay outside the claws of this monster.

To Leonidas: You failed to
mention what other options are available to Serbia if it opts to repudiate its candidacy to EU membership. Problems in economy are aggravated without pumped money from
abroad, manufacturing facilities are dilapidated, foreign outsoarcing companies do not come to Serbia because it is low-rated, compared to those integrated into EU. Should we remain ’’pauper’’?!

Leonidas,

Greece, Romania and Bulgaria are benefiting from the EU's Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund.

Also, Greece should be thankful that it has the Euro.

The Greek economy has benefited from having the Euro. Greece would have been in a much worse situation if it did not have the Euro.

'Serbia must look at the state of affairs in Bulgaria and Romania, ...'

How does the state of affairs in Romania compare with that in Moldova?

Leonidas

One cannot fail to notice the daily baraz from various pseudo-EU experts with each one spelling out new conditions with regard to Serbia's EU membership application. These new conditions are a blantant encroachment to Serbia's sovereignty and tantamount to national humiliation.

Serbia must look at the state of affairs in Bulgaria and Romania, where there has been essentially no improvement in the economies of those countries and the lives of their people since EU accession.Greece's social cohesion is also threatened under a mountain of debt.

Serbia has many other options.
