I think I just used quite simple english in my comment below....

No, the EU cannot recognise a country. The separate member states recognise a country and the EU accept a new country or not. But, in order for the EU to accept a country as a member it has to be formallly recognised by ALL member states first.... So If an EU member will never recognise a country, that means that it will never be accepted in EU or in any other interational organization that this country is already a member of...

THE GREEK,

EU as whole is in no position to recognize a country. Each individual country can do so if they chose. I don't know where you came up with that idea!?

If just one state of the EU votes a law in it's own parliament that "no border change in the EU could ever be applied" then this will mean that no current or future goverment of this state can ever recognise a new state entity - even after 20 years. And if just one country will never recognise a state entity ever - this means that the EU could never accept this country or NATO can never accept this country as well.

Greece considered to do that 15 years ago for Fyrom's case- by even changing her constitution - in order to prevent any future goverments (of Greece) to recognise Fyrom ever (just in case they change their mind..), so prevent Fyrom from entering any international organization - even after 30 years. The same could happen for Kosovo. Spain or Greece could vote such a law in their parliaments and Kosovo will never be a normal country for EU or NATO for eternity....... no matter if 200 other countries (illegaly) recognise it. So, the "game" could simply be over for the Albanian occupiers of Serbian land as simple as that...

PS: Look at Fyrom today: More than 150 countries have recognised it and even after 20 years, they don't have a name and they cannot be a member of ANY international organization ever, only because Greece doesn't want so. So, you can combine and imagine Kosovo's future which is already in a much worse situation than Fyrom were 20 years ago...... Kosovo will simply never be a country.
