A challenge to all Albanian contributors in this forum; wake me up when things change in Kosovo without Belgrade’s agreement. Don’t you guys realize that this is the US/EU “jerking your chains” – the obligatory actions to ensure they retain your continued support and not turn on them.
Like cheap washing detergent, all bubble and froth on top, but nothing underneath. However, I have been told that there are elements in the Pristina regime that think this course of action will somehow bring in NATO to forcibly take Northern Kosovo. Here is some news for you guys that hope this will happen – NO, not in your lifetime or your grandchildren’s lifetimes. NATO, US or EU will not lift a finger to cause another war.
When will you people learn? They are having you on!!

I honestly believe the West and Pristina institutions are insane if they believe a predominantly Serbian area bordering Central Serbia will ever take part in these elections.

This is pure stupidity

Jason

If the EU and the US truly believe in democracy, they need to stay away from the north and leave the Serbs be. If 95% of the population (or more) does not want anything to do with Pristina, then the people have spoken. We cannot and must not force an entire population to do something against its will.

I know that the EU and NATO will not allow force to be used because no one wants more war. It is best Pristina realizes it cannot have the north, it never has, and never will.

Zoran

pre 14 godina

But Demi, Serbians already rule themselves and reject Pristina outright. Why is Pristina attempting to impose their control in our areas when we are not interested? It doesn't matter what you have to offer we are happy with our current structures, thank you very much.

You see, we Serbians allow you to have your parallel structures and we have no interest in ruling over ethnic-Albanians in KiM. We just want you to leave us alone because it is clear we reject your supposed "authority". Can't you understand that?

Justifying it with made up propaganda certainly isn't going to work either. We leave you alone, you leave us alone and then we can negotiate the issues that matter.

Mike

pre 14 godina

A waste of money and time by Pristina if you ask me. If they get more than a 5% turnout it will be a miracle. But I suppose it's a way for Pristina to keep up the ridiculous facade that they somehow have a say up there - about as ridiculous as Belgrade opening up a polling station for the 60 remaining Serb pensioners in Pristina. But maybe this will be a way for Pristina to show that even though they tried and failed miserably, they can justify writing it away when forced back to the negotiating table.

Whatever, I've stopped trying to figure out Pristina's logic.

Demi - serbian institutions in North are today ONLY LEGAL STRUCTURES in Kosovo.

We will take control over that region and Serbia will not have any institution in Kosovo in the future. The west and Kosovo has made this desicion.

''Even with your highly exaggerated figures Demi, answer me one thing. Did Milosevic's tactics work? If not, why are you attempting to impose the same thing on Serbians?'' -Zoran

Milosevic took away every right K.albanians had and in the end send down the whole Serbian military to Kosovo to ethnicly clean all albanians from Kosovo. Ofcourse it diden't work because the great countrys of the world have moral values and rescued Kosovo. The goverment in Kosovo now wich is democraticly elected by the people of Kosovo is not attempting to impose the same thing on the minority serbs living in N.Kosovo. K.serbs will rule them self by their own local leaders and will have a better living if they ruled them self. Their own police and security forces, own local leaders and instituitons representing them in their country and abroad. Dosen't that sound better than serbian illegal insituions wich will not make a better living for the K.serbs. They are in any way illegal and unaceptable to the goverment of Kosovo and Eulex.

''Compromise, negotiations and agreement is the only path to lasting peace.'' -Zoran

Yes I agree but negotiations should only be held with the Kosovo serbians in Kosovo. We need to find solutions on how we can cooperate and make a better life for our self all together in our new multiethnic country. With agreements between the etnicitys of Kosovo then kosovo will have done great achivments for lasting peace and security in Kosovo and the region.

If you ment negotiation with Serbia it can only be held as two independent and sovereign countrys. And only about cooperation about missing people and other important issues.

Serbians overwhelmingly reject Serbian-Albanian structures. You might find some who are easily bought, just like there were Serbian-Albanians in the same boat (many who were killed by the KLA) but imposing anything against the will of the people is not going to work long term. Serbian-Albanians, if anyone, should know that.

Compromise, negotiations and agreement is the only path to lasting peace. Anything else will sow the seeds for future unrest and possibly conflict. Your hatred is leading to that path so why not try the path of peace? Wouldn't everyone prefer to live in peace with their neighbours?

Force is when Milosevic ordered the murders of thousand of albanians and deportation of 800 000 more from therir homes. This election in N.mitrovica is will not be forced with military or other ways. It is a democratic right for the citizens in N.mitro to choose their leaders who will represent them. The so called illegal instotuions of Serbia wich operates in the north is unaceptable because they cannot make the living better for the serb community. They can only cause problems between serbs and albanians as they have done for 10 years now.

The Serbs in the north will do what they always do – vote with their feet and walk in the opposite direction from the polling station. Frankly – who can blame them – the International community have let them down and fed the parasitic Albanians with tax payers £s and €s. It is only foreign aid and receipts from Albanian Ex-pats that keep the place afloat.

I think it will be the lowest turnout ever recorded.

It seems these occupiers have nothing better to do than to continually provoke the local population.

Attempting to impose a solution is the problem. Force is a sign of weakness, not strength so until we come to a compromise agreement, tensions will continue to remain.

Allowing EULEX into Kosovo, especially Serbian sections, was a big mistake made by Tadic. Our citizens in Kosovo need to get organised and reject them outright.

Finally things are wrapping up.

Although late, still an acceptable move for long-lasting peace and stability. Minority Serbs have the ultimate chance to elect democratic candidates not gangs from criminal eneterprises sponsored by belgrade.

I can't wait to finally be able to vote for Thaci! This is a great day for all Serbs to be able to vote for a drug lord and an albanian warcriminal. I would loooove for him to come to the North after he "wins" the election. Mr Thaci you are most welcome to finally face justice!
