Or maybe Valachians and Shqips have not much to do with "Dacians" and "Illyrians" at all.

Pick your choice. ;-)

Chances of this latter are very good.At least I do not believe that Dacians looked like gypsies while Turks took after illirians. But this judgement is just based on appearence who knows maybe some conspired academy members could prove the other way.

Ataman,

During the time of the Austro-Hungarian empire you Hungarians changed the names of Romanians in Transylvania into Hungarian names like Ioan into Janos.

Also, the Hungarians tried to force the Romanians in Transylvania to convert to Catholicism.

You Hungarians came from Asia to Europe in the 9th century. Hungarians are not even Europeans. Therefore, Hungarians have no right to claim Transylvania as theirs.

Sãlaj county and the rest of Transylvania was, is and will always be Romanian land.
(Mircea, 19 January 2010 19:55)

LOL, you will convince me 100% at the moment you will find a Romanian-sounding name for that mountain it the area, I mean, the Peak Meszes alias "Meseº", coming straight from the word "mész". It's precisely like "Kosova". Is it "Kosova" or not - like your "Romanian" peak "Meseº" is coming from word "mész", so does "Kosova" come from the ancient Slavic word "Кос" (here I wrote it in Cyrillic, pronounced "Kos").

So either "Dacians"/"Illyrians" are not very resourceful finding the geographic names of areas what supposed to be their ancient place of habitat and they borrow these from their historic opponents.... or that ancient place of habitat just wasn't in that area precisely.

Or maybe Valachians and Shqips have not much to do with "Dacians" and "Illyrians" at all.

Ataman,

Dacian Ciolos is not an ethnic Hungarian. He is Romanian.

Sãlaj county and the rest of Transylvania was, is and will always be Romanian land.

The ancestors of the Romanians, the Dacians, were already living in Transylvania when the ancestors of the Hungarians came from Asia to Europe in the 9th century.

Dacian Ciolos from Romania will be the European Commissioner for Agriculture.

I am proud that a Romanian will be the European Commissioner for Agriculture.

Little correction:

"I am proud that someone with Romanian citizenship will be the European Commissioner for Agriculture."

"Borrowed" name (Csolos?), born in Zalãu (Zilah, "borrowed" part of country), more precisely, "borrowed without intent to return soon" county Sãlaj (Szilágy).

Next time please find the proper name for "Meseº" Peak in Romanian, like some others should explain that "Kosova" thing having nothing to do with the word "Kos" (blackbird). What does word "Meseº" does mean in Romanian? Do you know, what the word "Meszes" or the word "mész" does mean in other languages?

Jeeeeeee... if it was "borrowed without intent to return" like "Kosova", dear borrowers, please just have a little respect to the rightful owners.

You know, we are in EU, so I used politically correct "borrowed without intent to return soon" term. I do not mean "stealing", of course. It's just some kind of borrowing some few Romanian and Albanian politicians were/are promoting ;-)
