America is rich and does not give as much per person as many other countries, true, although the outpouring of private donations this time has been encouraging. Many other countries are participating in this effort. Brazil was already on the ground because it was leading the UN protection effort there, China sent the first planeload of supplies, Cuba has not only sent field hospitals but has allowed U.S. planes to overfly its territory to shorten the time to evacuate the injured, Venezuela was one of the first to make heavy earth-moving equipment available. And Kosovo is donating $50,000 and has offered to send members from its Emergency Response team to help. This is a huge disaster, everybody's help is needed.

Time to shut your mouths and open your wallets. Do you really think that these people sitting in the street care where the where the food and water comes from? Do you think they care about you mathematics? Do you think they care about your blame and hatred for each other? Do you think there will be medals and prizes for who responded the best? Enough of the "feel good" or "blame" comments. They need help NOW.Find a source to donate to right now. I don not care what political boundary you sit behind. Haiti needs the help of the world right now. They are not someone else's problem, they are our problem.

Shalom David,

Reading your moving comment some tears appeared in my eyes and I said myself how generous you are.And then I started calculating that this sum is something like 30 and so cents per capita.
You cause hundreds of billions of demage in one corner of the world then give some hundreds of millions in the other one.
Generosity made in USA.
Perhaps only your extended arm in the middle east Israel has a higher sum of demage caused to other countries per capita than your blessed US.Well again you are like a murderer who kills off entire family except the little boy and giving that one a penny expects to be respected by everyone.Moral and mathematics seem not to be your strong point.

"The United States has mobilized thousands of troops and a massive contingent of civilian workers to respond to the Haitian crisis. Speaking at the White House, President Barack Obama said the initial U.S. response will exceed $100 million, and that more assistance will be forthcoming. "

Times like this show just how exceptional America really is! The people of our great nation will once again dig into their pockets (during a recession!) and show the world what charity means. Our government will go above and beyond to help the people of Haiti.
