sj,

After the wars in the 90s Serbia was described as the following by the USA/EU.....
Killers, Mass murderers, aggressors, inhumane, rapists, etc (nothing good). Serbia was at fault for everything! Croatians, Albanians, Bosniaks, were innocent angels. Is that an accurate perception? No, but that is what Serbia's perception was by the EU/USA and their citizens.

You have to give Tadic some credit for some of the encouraging signs and deals in Serbia. To say it’s just "capitalist practicality" is not fair. What would be the worst thing to happen after apologizing for Srebrenica? Serbia’s ego would take a hit? Would it show our neighbors that we are weaker or stronger than they are? I say stronger, by moving forward and letting the past R.I.P.

"I’ll be blunt, if it was not for the “war mongers” Serbia would be exactly what the US/Germans had planned – a small region around Belgrade and nothing else."

What land did your war mongers annex? It already is a small region around Belgrade. Serbia lost Kosovo, Montenegro, RSK, at the cost of thousands of lives and property before Tadic. Its not all Serbia's fault, but the war mongers from Serbia had a lot to do with it.

My point is if Seslej were to become president like a couple posters are predicting.... a lot of the stero types would come back. The west associates Seselj with the recent wars. It would almost look like the Serbian people want to relive the past. The west would ask... they elected that War criminal? Why? Do they want to start another war?

"who is running Pristina and Zagreb since war, but even so, west is supporting them. I guess, rules for Serbia are always "special".

Well, Mesic is finally out and Josipovic is similar to Tadic and will benefit the region. Pristina will have a "nationalist leader" for many years since they do not have true independence and need support from the people. They use the Kosovo independence as an excuse to their real problems. Thats a good cover up so the K-Albanians don't complain about the economy, jobs, health, etc. However, if Kosovo doesn't improve in 50 to 60 years then regardless who is running that country there will be constant govt revolutions, Albanians vs. Albanians.

What exactly has Tadic done to improve Serbia’s image as a “European Country”? Going around asking that Serbia apologise for the Srebrenica “incident” and then demanding that Parliament give two “back-door” type apologies. I’ll be blunt, if it was not for the “war mongers” Serbia would be exactly what the US/Germans had planned – a small region around Belgrade and nothing else.
Whether you like or dislike Seselj or Milosevic is a personal issue and I don’t want to enter that debate. However, give credit to the fact that it was only through fighting that we managed to retain what we have today and that includes Republika Srpska. The rest will come through negotiations and peace. Look at what has been left to the “victors”, all economically unviable tin pot countries such as Croatia with unemployment of 40 to 45% and a 60 billion Euro debt; Slovenia with 35% unemployment; Montenegro with 55% and continuing to rise unemployment; Macedonia and Kosovo region both with 90% unemployment. These places all survive only because of financial aid from the EU.
The fact that we now have new investment in car manufacturing or German cable manufacturing plants in was not due to Tadic or his crew, but capitalist practicality that now was the time to invest lest they be left out in the cold and some other investment comes to Serbia via China or worse, from the EU’s point of view, Russia. Unemployment in Serbia is currently at 25% and with this type of investment watch the conditions improve dramatically.
The EU is only now showing an interest in Serbia because the gas pipeline is on its way to the western Balkans then EU via Serbia and sanctions are now a huge impediment to EU interests but to get around the embarrassing question of their “high moral ground” over Bosnia its making these so called conditions about an apology and if Tadic can get one out of the Serbian people then a big bonus for him in his Christmas stocking this year.

Seselj becoming president in Serbia is one of the worst things that can happen to this region! War mongler presidents are a thing of the past and no one wants to vote for presidents like that! Peace, stability, and negotiations is the present and future. Like Tadic or not he is improving Serbia's image as a "European country".

Yes and if you watch his whole trial on Youtube, its obvious his release is imminent this year. Nikolic wants ASAP elections because he knows Seselj's victory will detract from Nikolic's electoral triumph when he abandons EU aspirations BY NECESSITY to form a govt with DSS & SRS - unless SPS, on orders from Russia, convinces the minorities to switch sides and leave DS, DSS & SRS as a permanently paralyzed opposition. But I doubt Russia would betray Tadic for nothing. Seselj for Foreign Minister!

They have to let him go sooner or later and when they do the West can forget about Tadic, he is done. Unless of course he dies in Prison, before his release, but that is not likely to happen, it would be too obvious. And would only strengthen the radical party in Serbia(talk about back-firing).

The NATO court is confirmed by this very trial. We have an 11 month delay on top of a very long trial with basically no explanation. It is obvious that this is politically based just to keep Seselj out of Serbia. If they had any evidence he would have been convicted a long time ago.
