# Why cant Serbia look at its past and admit and apologise.

When they do that and dont add but bosnians, croats albanians did this and that then it is a true free country.
Admit your sins and not the reason why you did it and than they might be forgiven
(UNE, 11 January 2010 18:06)

it is business as usual in serbia's parliament. they have never been paricularly good at looking at the past, except to accuse others. we will see if tadic pushes this thru, as he has claimed.

by the way, i, at least, am not prepared to forgive or forget these sins. one resolution ain't gonna do it for me -- can't speak for the others.

however, it would show some intent with this govt. that it will not continue to repeat these horrors, again and again and again. there are no guarantees, but it would be at least one hopeful sign.

arresting mladic, even this late in the game, would be another. (it's 2010!!)

there are many horrors of history in the balkans, and a need for coming to some kind of terms between many nationalities, countries. yes, during ww2, though not in the simplistic way that the nationalists claim. but many horrors that have yet to be addressed.

but as others have written here, this particular mass murder stands out, even among all of the other horrors inflicted onto innocent people, especially bosnians, specifically bosniaks. and yes, there were actually some women and children (and babies) murdered among the thousands -- so some of you clearly do not get the magnitude. but for the most part they were boys and men. those were yr "mujehadeen."

we even have it on video, one tiny segment -- they were so proud of it, why not film it? and yes, they ("scorpions") were blessed by the holy church. don't believe it? check the archives. thanks to natasa kandic, as always...

we have to move on, i agree, but not by pretending that all of these horrors never happened. that is foolish and frankly dangerous.

ciao!

I agree 100%. And that is not to excuse others.

Stop redirecting excuses elsewhere.

In all that happened in the war, Srebenica stands out extremely strongly and requires to be specifically addressed.

This is not about tit-for-tat or quid pro quo or two wrongs making something right.

This is about apologising for a particularly dishonourable set of murders that have come to the attention of the world in a particularly graphic way.

These murders require to be dealt with in their own terms.

Zoran you have mentioned 50 states or more in your post, including all the NATO members which also includes Serbian allies such as Greece and Slovakia. You are accusing them of genocide against the Serbs.

Instead of blaming the whole world look your own first.

"So yes, NATO, US, UK, Germany, ethnic Albanians, Croatians, Bosnian Muslims, Slovenians, Serbians and the rest, time to come clean! Lets start with the genocide in Jasenovac and work our way through."

Lead by example, condemn the slaughter of thousands of unarmed men.

Lets hope it stays this way: no resolution. Tadic made apologies earlier that are not shared by Serbs, we dont need an equally dishonest resolution, esp. when WE SERBS are the ones who should get apologies by Balkan neighbors and the West but havent.

Zoran

pre 14 godina

He also said that the adoption of a Srebrenica resolution was Serbia’s ”obligation to the Hague Tribunal”, and that it would receive the support of the people “in time”.
--
Since when has this become an obligation to the Hague tribunal? This is a NATO court and Serbia owes nothing to it.

The people do not support such selective apologies and never will. When we have crimes committed by Bosnian Muslim, Croatians and ethnic Albanians celebrated we are not doing any of our victims justice by ignoring them.

It is time for everyone to come clean, not just Serbians and we can then start the path to truth and reconciliation. That is where lasting peace lives and not by covering up crimes, as that lays the seeds for future conflict.
