Mister -

"This reminds me of a sign on the London underground - "dogs must be carried on elevators". What happens if you do not have a dog?"

You mean no enterprising soul has opened a short-term dog-rental service? I'd suggest teacup poodles: not only would costs run lower, but you could charge a premium for the convenience. Having a mastiff lounging about as the alternative would help drive the point home.

Why ordinary people wonder too much about his visit? It didn't mean anything to me. Serbs travel everyday within K and I see them just like all other people in K. I'm fine with this, unless somebody (no matter; albanian, serb or...) make trouble, then...!? Leaders speak on the phone everyday and work together. Let them do their job and we do ours and live our life the best we can. I think this festive day means to bring love and peace between people not hate?
I guess, people who comment in this side its just a small group who cant really see other colors than black (and white-maybe)!

Cheers and Merry Orthodox Christmas to all who celebrate.

Amer,

""Correctly" is not the same as "literally." "

This reminds me of a sign on the London underground - "dogs must be carried on elevators". What happens if you do not have a dog?

In deciding what the true meaning of something that is said rather than its literal meaning I prefer the authority of Humpty Dumpty in Alice Through the Looking Glass - "It means what I meant it to mean, neither more nor less."

God I sound like Ataman :p

So how did he arrive in Kosovo, by Audi or plane? Are Belgrade officials scared to land in Prishtina International Airport or are planes from Serbia forbiden to enter Kosovo's territorium?

Pejoni - nevermind how he comes, but he comes. He comes to province of Kosovo and Metohija without asking Albanian pseudoauthorities and mr Thaci can doing nothing.

Can you drop the sarcasm at least on Christmas?

Do you only come here to provoke us?

Why don't you take a leaf ou tof your brother's book (UNE) and simply say merry Christmas. Leave the rubbish for another day.

'B92:

"Correctly" is not the same as "literally." English speakers don't know what a "metohija" is (or are?). Or how to pronounce the word. Meaning they'd simply skip over the word, and if it looks like propaganda for a political position they'd probably skip the entire article.

Remember, B92 has more chance of getting Serbian views across if other-than-Serbs actually read their articles.

B92:

You didn't translate Tanjug correctly!

"Visoki Dečani is located in Metohija, in western Kosovo, and it is the largest and best preserved Serb Orthodox medieval monastery, famous, among other things, for its 14th century frescoes."

In Serbian, Tanjug wrote "Manastir Visoki Dečani nalazi se u Metohiji, i danas je najveći i najbolje očuvani srednjovekovni manastir u Srbiji, slavan, izmedju ostalog, i po svojim freskama iz 14. veka."

On its English Web site, Tanjug translated its story: "Visoki Decani Monastery is located in Metohija, and it is the biggest and the best preserved medieval monastery in Serbia, famous, among other things, for its 14th century frescoes."

Metohija is Metohija! It's not "western Kosovo!"

It's Kosovo and Metohija!

Also, Tanjug is correct when they write "in Serbia" which you edited out of the story!

Tadic does indeed have private reasons to be at the monastery, since his ex-wife lives there as a nun. Plus, as you can see, he didn't make any explicit political statements, just some vague pronouncements about peace, reconciliation, heritage, etc. This is quite different from the stuff he said in his last visit.
I don't see any reasons to gloat on either side. Kosovar gov't did what it was supposed to do and Tadic did his part of the bargain too.
But if he does end up making a political speech, it won't be him who'll suffer, but the dwindling serb population in Kosovo.

Mike,

Do not pay any mind to our little friend, aka "MF." He clearly has no idea what he is talking about and it is plainly apparent to anyone that has the most rudimentary knowledge of Kosovo. As I wrote in one other post regarding him, "Ignorance is bliss."

On the note of that terrorist who "protected" Decani - let us not forget that he tortured and killed Serbs and is in no way a friend to any decent human being. Any actions regarding the monastery were purely political and/or at the instruction of his masters. Haradinaj was and remains a coward and a terrorist.

Merry Christmas Eve!

Actually, the Italian soldiers have developed a strong friendship with the monks of Decani. They not only guard the monastery from sporadic attacks by Albanian hypernationalists, but help work on the grounds, pray and eat with the monks. It was one of the reasons why Decani and Pec (also guarded by Italians) have remained untouched by the Albanian mob since 1999. If you'd been there, which I know you haven't, you'd know this. As usual, one can measure your level of ignorance on an issue by the level of bombasity in your comment.

You got to be joking Mike. "They have been guarding from 1999". You should thank RAMBO,because in 2004 riots he gave the order to protect Monastery. A very merry Christmas to all Serbs, especially in Kosovo ! This year, after the ICJ verdict, will be a final spike in the coffin to try to take away the land that Serbs have had for over a millenium. We, the international community, no matter where they come from, know now what really happened and that the vast majority of Serbs are incredible nice and proud people. I would also like to say that you should thank you foreign minister Jeremic. I know that the majority of western diplomats and leaders really admire him for his skills. It looked very dark for Serbia two years ago. Now, you can travel free, Belgrade is again one of the worlds most important cities, there are and will be huge investments in Serbia. Kosovo on the other hand. A black hole. Dirty with no law and order. Politicians who are gangsters in suits that doesn´t care a bit of their people and every year get bigger and bigger jeeps and houses. And the people think they are former freedom fighters?? My God, how stupid.

What really is in question here is why any Serb would ever need to ask permission to visit a Serbian church that's from the 14th century. Any normal person can clearly see that Kosovo is Serbian. Why else would there be so many Serb churches there and especially one's that are centuries old? Such complete nonsense! There are no Serb minorities in Kosovo, only Albanian minorities in Serbia's Kosovo province!

Did you really mean to say that this year will be the final step in the Kosovars regaining their land? (The final step leading to an undesired end - from the point of view of the speaker, naturally.)

BTW, a "coffin nail" is a slang term for a cigarette.

So how did he arrive in Kosovo, by Audi or plane? Are Belgrade officials scared to land in Prishtina International Airport or are planes from Serbia forbiden to enter Kosovo's territorium?
(Pejoni, 6 January 2010 16:41)

Can you drop the sarcasm at least on Christmas?

Do you only come here to provoke us?

Why don't you take a leaf ou tof your brother's book (UNE) and simply say merry Christmas. Leave the rubbish for another day.

Pejoni - nevermind how he comes, but he comes. He comes to province of Kosovo and Metohija without asking Albanian pseudoauthorities and mr Thaci can doing nothing.

Mister -

You mean no enterprising soul has opened a short-term dog-rental service? I'd suggest teacup poodles: not only would costs run lower, but you could charge a premium for the convenience. Having a mastiff lounging about as the alternative would help drive the point home.
