To equate BiH with Jugoslavia is a nonsense. Mesic recognizes BiH history and integrity, which involves accepting its mix of people. The Serb refugees returning to their previous accommodation is the bug bear of BiH, there have been forced removal of occupants in many areas especially Tuzla , Sarajevo to allow Serb returnees access to their apartments and houses. Dayton demands it and great lengths have been gone to, ensuring this demand is met unlike the returnees to RS who have been met with at first violence now official intimation and isolation. Compare the numbers they speak for themselves.

RE; Mesic the Hyprocrite

If Mesic wants a united mini-Jugoslavija, B&H; why did he help to destroy the Federation of Yugoslavia?

As far as refugees returning back to RS; what happened to the Serbs in;

Mostar
Sarajevo
Tuzla
Priejdor
Drvar
Slavonija
Karlovac
Knin
Medak
Bihac
Gospic

and countless other towns and villages across Croatia and B&H.

The truth is Mesic and Croatia are prying and hoping the RS is independent. That is their excuse to territorial claims to Bosnia. Serbia will not be your excuse to "Greater Croatia". Croatia like always will take advantage of the Serbs and dine and wine.

More power to the regions! More! Not less.

Keep Dayton, but improve it.

And eventually, but that may take years and years, if Kosovo can go, of course so can the Serbs and Croats of Bosnia.

No double standards please!

You guys don't quite get what is happening here, if the RS through its bloody emergence gains any rewards such as separating itself from its historical territory, ie BiH, through the displacement of its neighbors and the destruction of their heritage then history shows the same fate will eventually befall them. If they cannot live under a multicultural banner then they are dooming themselves to insularity and the absence of civilized development. I am stating that civilized thought comes from being able to live with differences and become stronger for it. i always laugh at the many migrants i meet who come to my country, a multicultural country with all its pretensions and flaws, but they are able to merge the old ways and the new with success and satisfaction, and are puzzled by how it is possible , often commenting that it is not possible where they come from. What a joke. It is possible except when they introduce criminality into the mix, which is the use of excessive force and terror to extract their myopic singularity, especially in a place that has always lived with differences. Many are fascinated by the process and the acceptance of their ways; the state provides their children with language lessons, the state subsides their cultural centres and helps build their churches and sports centres. What the state does not tolerate is exclusivity and the use of force to gain an outcome. We have laws and a moral conscience to control such behaviour. The problem with RS staying in BiH is that it is nigh impossible for the others in BiH to trust them given their track record of deception and destruction. RS has a legal base through the rushed and rickety engineering of Dayton, but its birth is steeped in blood and that stain will never leave it. Their desire for more independence is to be free to re-define guilt as glory and learn to live with the lie.

When Republika Srpska breaks away who cares what happens to the balance of Bosnia or who or what takes care of that portion – leave it to the US/EU to show them the way of freedom and democracy. Why should Serbs constantly sacrifice themselves for others and their idiotic mistakes.

Well, well, well. If they don't get what they want they will turn radical and strap bombs on themselves. I thought that Bosnian Muslims did not even think about practicing such barbaric methods.

Mr. Mesic, when you decide to welcome the Serb refugees back then you may have an opinion on this. Until that day, kindly shut up and stop being such a hypocrite.
Your Croats in Bosnia already wnat out and that's not because of RS. Stop blaming RS for everything. So Croats can't get along with Bosniaks but that's RS' fault.

Take some responsibility for your own actions.

If the west can tolerate a fundamentalist state like "Kosova" then they should tolerate Bosnia without RS. Serbs are fed up with being sacrificed for everyone else's agenda.

once again i completely agree with mesic. he is one of the most intellectual of the former yu leaders, and probably the one with the most integrity, though considering most of the competition that really isn't so very difficult.

we all knew this particular battle was approaching, sonia B warned of it years ago and i've merely echoed her comments (well, being completely marginalized fr the serbian press, someone had/has to.) having "lost" kosovo/a, they are determined to finish off karadic and co.'s mission -- never mind that those men and women have all been indicted (and many convicted) for the most horrendous of war crimes.

mesic needs to continue to "mouth off." if people here don't like it, just skip to the next point.

Croatia is very smart when it comes to E.U politics. Of course the Croatian gov. is going to support a unified BiH when it's so close to entering the E.U. When that E.U membership ticket is handed over to the Croatian gov. things in the region will change dramatically. BiH can kiss it's unification good by. If such a small country like Slovenia can cause so much of a headache for it's neighbour can you imagine what Croatia will do to BiH. Herceg-Bosnia has had enough. I strongly believe that within the next 5 years what Slobo and Franjo discussed in 1990 will actually become a reality. Alija will be turning in his grave!

Let me get this straight. It was ok for Yugoslavia to break up, so that Bosnia, Croatia, and so forth can achieve "freedom" and "democracy" from Belgrade. Now it is important to keep Bosnia with its entities so we don't create an Islamic fundamentalist state. Once again it is ok to sacrifice someone else for someone else's agenda. Ludicrous!!!

Firstly I cannot understand why b92 continuously publishes what this man has to say since usually he has nothing to say expect to spit on Serbs and blame them for everything. I am surprised that he hasn’t yet accused the Serbs for the recent earthquake in Dubrovnik.

Well, by far I thought he is a friend of Moslems. Why such fear of some new Islamic state creation in the heart of Europe? Don’t we have already Albania, and as I remember he had no problems by recognising Kosovo as independent state whose majority make people of Islamic religion. Croatia eagerly recognised Kosovo, so why not Islamic Bosnia?
And why he thinks that Islamic Bosnia would be surrounded by hostile neighbours? Why would Serbs be hostile to “Bosniaks”? Or Croats for that matter? Once we peacefully separate from each other there will be no reason for hostility any longer.
Then we can build good neighbourly relations, forget the past and look towards the future, isn’t it so?
Mesic knows how well this works. Wasn’t he speaking in favour of Kosovo separation as the only solution for peace and prosperity in the region? What about break up of YU? That was excellent recipe! So, why doesn't he say what would be wrong of Srpska's separation from the artificial and extremly non functional so called Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Besides, Croats can stay with Bosniaks in Federacija and try their best to build multicultural (i always laugh on this multi-cultural) society that would resemble mini YU. Croats could greatly contribute in prevention of new Islamic state's creation in the heart of Europe. This time is Croatia's turn to do so. Serbs payed dearly during Otoman's occupation while trying to get rid off Turks and thier holy Islamic religion.

Well, Mesic, Mesic, what a slimy despicable figure you are.
I think that even Croats are seek of this man. The good thing is that he retires and very soon he will be the man of the past.

As for the refugees that Mesic has guts to mention, I have a question for him as to how many Serbs have return to Croatia and Federacija (B&H)?

Mesic does not know what he is talking about. The number of serbs was slightly greater, and he has totally disregarded the Yugoslav population and others population. this guy sounds like a broken record and his lies and talking about 220,000 lived in the republica srpska yea right the funny thing is there is not even 500,000 croats in bosnia and majority of bosniaks lived in the sarajevo area and almost all Serbs are living where they are living now and in the other federation, so mesic should stop talking lies and get on with life and the republica srpska has a 92%+ Serb population and a 5% population in the other federation which makes the Serbs the largest out of the 3 peoples that live in the entire so independent republica srpska should happen this year with votes in the republica srpska parliament and then then the people vote and then its done and i am sure the people in the republic will vote for independence and it will be done all legal not like mesic he should return all the Serbs that got kicked out and should all return since krajina was 90% Serbs

Why would anyone expect of Bosniaks to accept ghetto peacefully ? Of course they would radicalize if RS tries to secede, they are the most numerous ethnic group, offer them percentage of territory equal to the percentage they make up in the overall population and they may accept division of Bosnia. But they are being offered ghetto, and they are expected to just take it ? So Mesic thinks that RS should return the displaced croats and muslims to RS entity... yet during his tenure in Croatia as president he has done, what?, for the Krajina Serb refugees???

If Bosnia were to fall apart the muslim part would still be bigger than Kosovo. How can Kosovo be a sustainable state but not the muslim entity in Bosnia? Besides, by declaring independence the bosnjaks should have known that the other two peoples were not interested in living under islam and would do everything in their power to break away.
The muslims and croats wanted nothing less than to split from the Serbs now they are begging us to stay!!!

If the west can tolerate a fundamentalist state like "Kosova" then they should tolerate Bosnia without RS. Serbs are fed up with being sacrificed for everyone else's agenda.

When Republika Srpska breaks away who cares what happens to the balance of Bosnia or who or what takes care of that portion – leave it to the US/EU to show them the way of freedom and democracy. Why should Serbs constantly sacrifice themselves for others and their idiotic mistakes.

Sinisa, I am not quite sure where your idea of ghetoization is coming from. The bosniaks displaced hundreds of thousands of Serbs and Croats from central bosnia. They actually gained land.

More power to the regions! More! Not less.

Keep Dayton, but improve it.

And eventually, but that may take years and years, if Kosovo can go, of course so can the Serbs and Croats of Bosnia.

No double standards please!

The truth is Mesic and Croatia are prying and hoping the RS is independent. That is their excuse to territorial claims to Bosnia. Serbia will not be your excuse to "Greater Croatia". Croatia like always will take advantage of the Serbs and dine and wine.
