Government decides to sue Croatia for genocide

Thank you Jesus! Thank you Jesus! the time has come for Justice. My family who left Serbian Krajina and escaped right before WWII, we have been waiting patiently and in faith that this day would. Oh praise God! This is a day of celebration for all Serbs, and a day of rememberance when the croats, muslim bosnians, and albanians attacked and killed over a million serbs in WWII! we know who you are, keep trying to convince the world you are innocent you cannot hide from the Almighty! Serbia, Krajina, Srpska Repulika Bosna/Hercg, Srpska Republika Zeta Montenegro, Kosovo i Metojiha, I love you.

I don't understand why Serbia waited so long.

The worst ethnic cleansing in Europe since WWII took place in Croatia during and after operation Storm.

Franjo Tudjman and Slobodan Milosevic struck a deal and the poor Krajina Serbs were betrayed by Belgrade and then killed and driven from their homes by Croat forces. The U.N protected Krajina was massively bombed not only by Croats but also US and Nato took part in this monstruos crime.

It's high time for Serbia to offence too. Why should you only defend ? Offence is a vital part of any war. And I guess nobody here doubts that all these years Serbia has been a targed of a consolidated warfare in all forms available. Together with Russia my country will definitely support you.

Yes, it's about time that Croatia answered for its crimes. Let the truth be revealed.

The evidence against Croatia is overwhelming and Serbia should have done this long ago. They should also sue Croatia for the WWII genocide and for Jasenovac, which was so sick and gruesome it even made German SS officers sick. Croatia is one of the only countries that never paid for their crimes, and in fact were rewarded for them by Tito. It is time to right that wrong.
In addition, Serbia needs to sue the Kosovo albanian leadership, as well as NATO.

Not vengeance politics at all Ian. It is defensive. Serbia is guilty of much but they were not the solely responsible for crimes in the wars. If Croatia insists in its case then it leaves Serbia with very little choice.

The Serbian government of today want to move on as much as possible. It has clearly been stated that they do not want to take this action.

It is a cowadly decision, if only for the genocide committed from 1991-1995. What perpetrated between those years in Croatia was an extension of ustasha Dr. Mile Budak's three step phase designed for Serbs in Croatia; the last phase being expulsion. "Our" government needs to realize this in order to properly proceed, otherwise it will result in nothing. "Our" government will also have to realize that justice will have to be brought to all those who participated in the holocaust of Serbs in Yugoslavia, including the KPJ (one of the organizers). It's more than evident that the leadership of both the Ustashi and KPJ were exclusivlely Croatian.

I do believe detailed and full Census records should be used to show overall ethnic cleansing and genocide of the Serbs.

Serbs were at least 20-25% of what is today's Croatia back around 1900.

In 1991 then were over 12.2% and by 2002 they were only 4.5%.

This shows a marked reduction of the Serbian population. No such thing for the ethnic Croat population in Croatia.

Bosnia too has roughly the same percentage of Muslims before and after the Bosnian war, so it doesn't show any overall and greater ethnic cleansing of them relative to the Serbs at all.

Bosnia was somewhat of a land and territory swap as the Bosnian Muslim population has increased in areas they control while the Serb population in those areas plummeted.

There've been much greater returns of Muslims to the RS than Serbs to the Muslim-Croat Federation.

Many Bosnian Muslims sat out the war (or much of it) in Germany and other countries. Many others moved their to join the huge Bosnian Muslim army, or sometimes the women and children would live elsewhere while the men fought in the army. There were some Bosnian Muslim women and children even staying in Serbia as refugees during the war.

Suing Croatia for crimes against humanity is a human responsibility,not a choice or politics!!

Isn't it 15 years too late? If Serbia is going to do this, then I think the UK should sue Italy because the Romans invaded Britain and committed genocide. Then the UK can sue Germany and Denmark for the invasion of the Saxons who committed genocide. Then the UK can sue Denmark, Sweden and Norway for the invasion of the Vikings who committed genocide, then the UK can sue France for the invasion of the Normans who committed genocide. Then English taxes can go to the Welsh Senedd and the Scottish Parliament as compensation for what we did to them. Then Ireland can sue the UK for all the stuff we did to them including genocide.

What we have here is vengeance politics because Croatia defended Kosovo at the ICJ and they completely destroyed and countered Serbia's arguments. Serbia just wants to punish Croatia.

You should have a very good look at what Serbia “lost”. It controls 80% of all arable land, water resources and minerals of the old Yugoslavia. The only part Croatia has is EU dollars in its budget otherwise it would collapse. However, my sources tell me that the EU is demanding drastic cuts which means poverty will now rise even further in Croatia.
Of course the ICJY was constructed for Serbs, who else could have made the US look like the true fools they really are? Keep your eyes open during 2010 and see how the world will change dramatically and in particular what happens to Croatia. You don’t have to wait very long.

I think the countries in the region should sue Serbia for crimes commited in Kosova, Croatia and Bosnia. Croatia didnt go to Belgrade to commite crimes but Serbia did commit crimes all around Croatia. If that is so for Serbia to Sue Croatia then --Serbia should be waiting pretty soon for Kosova to Sue Serbia for the Crimes commited in Kosovo. 3000 people still missing from the 1999 war. and 10 000 killed. So please Serbia start sueing Croatia then we will see who wins.

Bosnia already sued Serbia for genocide and ICJ found Serbia not responsible, as for 'kosova' there is no such a thing if you are talking about Kosovo wait and see when Serbian Orthodox Church sues the so called government in Kosovo. Serbia is waiting for it and already suing Kosovo for illegal independence , if Kosovo should sue anyone it should be former KLA/UCK fighters for starting the Kosovo war.
As for Croatia they are lucky Jasenovac is not part of Serbia's lawsuit.

I truly believe that all parties should sue each other in one huge courtroom until the truth prevails. That way once and for all will know who's who. Then, the same parties, that being nationalities, former YUGO republics, provinces etc should sue whom ever they want for prior crimes such as WWII, WWI, 60's, 20's, 1912 etc.

Suing someone does not grant you victory. One has to actually win.

Bad news I'm afraid Rade, the US supreme court has just thrown out the 'Vatican Bank Claims' case as the Vatican has 'immunity' and the only way around this, that the Vatican carried out related commercial operations/transactions/trade in the US is not considered to have occurred, the selling of victims gold teeth not considered 'trade'!
