Action Team "has idea" on Mladić whereabouts

It is obvious that Ratko Mladić is still hiding well and successfully, and that he can postpone his extradition in this way, says Rasim Ljajić.

I am afraid that the whole Serbia is Mladic's whereabouts. Our prospective EU membership may be in jeopardy in Mladic is still at large. So all our intelligence agencies should buckle down to stalk and arrest him. Our future depends on it.
(Velja, 31 December 2009 10:44)

No, your future depends on what you do with it.
Joining EU will not make you rich. Just ask the millions of poor and homeless in western countries.

Plenty of salaries has been received for catching a man who formally would be a foreigner in Serbia. Meanwhile Ratko’s counterparts who did the same things can freely walk along Europe or even be officials. So Mladic is not the real reason otherwise they would never say that they “have an idea where the fugitive is hiding”. After those words any normal man will change his place to escape the risks. What makes me funny is that they say that catching the Bosnian General “will always be a condition for Serbia's EU integration” !!! What if they had already caught or even killed him ?

Why should Serbia be responsible for someone only because he is a Serb by origin ? For instance is Hungary responsible for the crimes committed by 2 millions of Hungarians living in Romania ? Ect. ect. I guess right now Serbian leaders should demand the full list of the integration demands EU is going to pull out of their pockets in case Ratko is found dead or alive inside or outside his homeland B&H. Also Serbia can sue against EU for demanding this foreigner as a predict for tearing Kosovo apart and breaking Serbian will to resist.

Happy New Year and thank God there was no war in the Old One !

Mircea,

The EU fund is what trapps small (and big) countries in the EU forever. It is a loan given to countries which is impossible to repay back especially for countries who have not had a lot of money to begin with. Ask the Poles.

It is a form of economic slavery, or economic emperialism.
I think governments of Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Albania, Macedonia, Turkey and all others hoping to enter EU have the responsibiliy to explain to their citizen what in fact these things will mean for their legislative and economic freedoms.

I don't hold my breath they will make an effort to put EU in its true light and give ALL the facts.

"Yes, your fellow citizens are able to travel, but how do they live in EU, too many of them are now stucked in the "EU after the crisis, unable to come back because they are lacking money and live in dredfull conditions, others are being given some money to return!"

It is so frustrating to see how many people are under the illusion that joining EU will automatically solve all their problems. Unfortuantly the same thing happens in Greece, people and goverments think they can fuck up everything but EU will always come to save us. This is the path to decadence weakening of states and loss of national freedom. We are also tired of arresting theiving, killing and smuggling Roumanians in Greece, Italy and the UK.
you forgot to mention what these Roumanians

Zoran,

Here is one more benefit of joining the EU:

Serbian farmers will receive direct payments under the EU's Common Agricultural Policy

1. Serbia is reducing disparities without the cohesion fund and surpassed every EU member's growth last year.

2. What is the benefit of adopting the Euro? Portugal, Ireland, Greece and Spain (PIGS) are thinking of leaving it Check http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/finance/2009/0123/1232474675334.html . Having control of our own currency gives us much more flexibility.

3. Serbia is on the white Schengen list. That's enough.

4. Serbia is attracting lots of foreign investment as it is. This includes investments from Russia and China and we already have a free trade agreement with the EU.

5. Serbian citizens can already travel within the EU. Anything more will create a brain drain.

get out of your box and ask the farmers in Europe what do they think about the policies coming out of Brussels...
Not everything is rosy as you keep on hammering it...
If am not mistaking Roumania used to be a very florishing agri lande decades ago... how far are you now after you joint the EU.

Yes, your fellow citizens are able to travel, but how do they live in EU, too many of them are now stucked in the EU after the crisis, unable to come back because they are lacking money and live in dredfull conditions, others are being given some money to return! Yes indeed a rosy picture!

Zoran,

These are some of the benefits of joining the EU:

1. Serbia will have access to the EU's Structural Funds and to the Cohesion Fund which help to reduce the economic disparities between EU Member States

2. Serbia will have the possibility to adopt the Euro once the conditions are met

3. Serbia will have the possibility to join the Schengen Area in which borders are removed between member states

4. Serbia will attract more foreign direct investment

5. Serbian citizens will have the possibility to travel, live and work without restrictions in other EU Member States.

You are right Velja, once we join the EU we will all become instant millionaires so lets do everything to obey the demands of NATO and continue on the path to selective justice. NATO were having regular meetings with Mladic so I wonder why they didn't bother arresting him back then?

Also, Serbia is more important to the EU than arresting Mladic. They will not lose this opportunity for the sake of one man but I do hope this delays entry. What benefits does the EU offer Serbia that we don't already have?
