"Croatia recognized the Kosovo Albanian unilateral proclamation on March 19, 2008, and diplomatic relations were established in mid-2008."

Croatia is acting accordingly to it's rules. As long as it has declared the Kosova Independence legal and in fully compliance with international law.

If you consider that the recognition of Kosova Independence is against Serbia Territorial Integrity, this is a very hard statement, which I would consider very seriously.

The minimum reaction in this case would have been the Break Down of Diplomatic Ties with 64 countries who have already recognized Kosova as an independent state and the warming to do so with other countries who will recognize it in the future. And this should have been only the minimal reaction. Next steps should have been much stronger ... .

The ICJ OPINION on Kosova Independence requested by Serbia is just a childish game who make me loaf.

It's better for you to Recognize Kosova Independence.

Sj,

First, I don't know who did put that strange idea into your head according to which Serbia will control South Stream ???? Where do u get that from ??? Serbia is no more than a transit country, it did not own even 1% of that stuff !! It's simply in the same situation as Bulgaria or Slovenia...
Be sure of one thing: notwithstanding the so called slavic ties Russia may have with Serbia, it will NEVER allow Serbia to have a say in a pipeline it entirely finances...it's a Russian toy !!!
If Russia was so kind...why is the Russian loan still discussed ??? Serbia thought his mother Russia will simply transfer them 1 billion and bye bye....yeah dream on...You'll have to fullfil all their conditions (awarding all contracts to Russian firms with russian workers...).

And as to the so-called humiliation of the US in Copenhagen....I really don't see the point, just because environment issue is the only one on which China and the US totally agree...they don't care about it !!! hahahaahah China was in fact reluctant to more efforts....but so were the US (bush did not even signed Kyoto)...the only one which, in a way, may have felt humiliated was European Union...Europeans are indeed alone in tackling gas emissions.
So not only the US weren't humiliated but they found in China a usefull ally...

And as to Copenhagen, Sj, didn't you tell us on this forum that China was so powerfull it only dispatched a minor officer to Copenhagen while the western powers sent their Presidents ??? Was it you ?
Would you please, here on this forum, admit that you voluntarily lied !!!!!
Red Comrade was of course attending the meeting during the whole last weekend...shaking hands with Obama, Merkel and sarkozy...

Concerning the other balkan countries...why, allways according to you, are all of them being supported financially by the EU....except Serbia ??
Do you really affirm that Serbia never filled in its budget gaps with EU funds ? especially during the crisis ?? Are you joking ???
Not more than 5-6 months ago, they received, in advance, more than 250 millions € IPA !!!
In other terms, not only Serbia is an EU funds recipient but it's for sure the biggest one...

And finally, do not get so worried about the US indebtedness my friend...once China gets its 850 millions peasants out of misery, once it matches with western infrastructure (everywhere, not only in Shanghai and Beijing), once it offers its citizens social welfare and wages above 100$...then we will check how much reserves Bank of China still possesses...not only they won't have a pence but current US indebtedness will make us laugh...indebtedness is nothing more than a characteristic of developped countries...
Would China buy Treasury bonds of a country close to bankruptcy ??? I don't think...

Unfortunately the EU is really a coward that uses others to do its dirty work. Croatia has the refugee issue hanging over its head and there will be no movement anywhere until this is settled and they use Slovenia to do the dirty work. Slovenia would last about 3 to 6 months if the EU stopped topping up its budget - Slovenia is doing what it is told.
I am sure you recall when Poland held the EU Presidency and it took on Russia over a trade issue. Even Lech Walesa called the action idiotic which embarrassed Poland immensely on the world stage because it was forced to back down. Remember when you have your hand out for money you don’t have a say in anything.
In regard to FRY Macedonia, in a nutshell, the west sees Greece as the cradle of its western civilization plus the number of Greeks in the west (US, Australia, Canada etc.) are very large and they are well organized and lobby extremely well. Cyprus is strongly supported by Greece. It’s that simple.
If you think that the EU is designed for small member countries to make strategic decisions or as the old saying goes “the tail wagging the dog”, then you’re are terribly wrong. Even Greece has its limitations here. The west does not know or care about Dusan’s empire, but what they do care about is where the EU gets its energy and Southstream pipeline is very important that will be controlled by Serbia. That’s what it boils down – energy equals money.
Now tell me which country on this planet has not borrowed money during the world economic crises with the exception of Croatia, Albania, BiH, Macedonia or Slovenia. They cannot borrow a Euro cent – they are all sustained from the EU budget. For your information Croatia alone currently owes with interest over 60 Billion Euros for a population of 3.8 million – you work out the maths from here wheter it could have borrowed a cent.

Your greatest supporters, the US and the UK, are in debt up to their necks. In fact the US would be bankrupt if China did not buy US bonds and why do you think that China’s insults towards Barak Obama and the total humiliation of the US on the world stage was tolerated in Copehagen? Because the US has to put up with it – the Chinese now own over 40% of the US of A.
Let’s have a look at Croatia’s living standards not the ones you read in official EU papers but the real ones. There have been many families that returned to live there permanently, but within a year they had left Croatia and have openly stated on their radio programs the difficulties associated with living conditions. One that always comes to mind was a conversation I had with a Croat in the city of Sid early in 2009 – he was there to buy food and petrol. He told me he lives in Osijek, but has family in Split and he cannot afford to travel there because of his low wages and high road tolls – the road tolls would amount to half of his monthly wage travelling one way. This is the norm not the exception in Croatia. In this man’s words, 10% live extremely well while the rest survive.
Now here is question for you to answer. Is Croatia or Kosovo more important to the EU than Serbia when Serbia will control one of the major energy supplies to Europe?????? You can have as much SAA as you like but always remember money wins all the time.

Nothing unexpected about this report.

Mirko you may find that Slovenia is vetoing Croatia because Slovenia is actually inside the EU. Croatia is not. Additionally you may find that Croatia has promised not to veto and that there is are no cases of Serbian fishermen being shot at by Croats either.

As for the living standard in Croatia compared to Serbia why would a comparison be dishonest. Do you even know it?

Nice name btw Mirko, a good Montenegrin name.

Sj,

You think that since Croatia is a small country nobody won't care about its Veto ??? how interesting !! Tell us please why Slovenia, far smaller than croatia, is currently delaying Croatia itself ??? Why does EU listen to that 2 million inhabitants country ???

And why is EU also listening to that other small and bankrupted EU state whose name's Greece ?? when it delays Macedonia's entry ???

Why, eventually, is EU listening to that microb state named Cyprus when it comes to Turkey (which I honestly don't want in either...) ??

You see man, history doesn't play any role in this process...each state has its rights and it's obvious that especially small countries are keen on making use of it...
We here on this forum are "balkanics"...so it may be possible some of us have once heard of Dusan's empire...but I can assure u nobody in the West has even the smallest idea who that guy was...

As to Croatian economy...I really respect your boldness getting into that issue since we all know your country was the most affected in the balkans and was close to bankruptcy....only saved through IMF emergency loans...Croatia did even not ask for them.
And comparing Serbian living standard to the croatian one is allmost dishonest...

I'm sure that you honestly know that Serbia will have a hard time when it will knock at the EU door...and you also know that Croatia will have no pity when it comes to veto use...

Happy new year to all of u !!!

BTW, Sj, we all heard from Oli Rehn that Croatia is very likely to close the negociations by the end of 2011...so when is Croatia, according to your numerous comments, due to hand over serbia large pieces of its territory ???
I learned that from u....that candidate countries which are far ahead and close to full membership should have to transfer lands to countries which have not even get SAA ratified....let's see...

The EU will not even ask Croatia for the time of day let alone who or what comes into the EU – Croatia lives because the EU gives it money to fill its treasury. Read about what happen to Poland when it thought they could take on the Russians over a trade issue. They EU told it to pull its head in and keep quite.

US appeals court nixes Vatican Bank Holocaust suit
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091230/ap_on_re_eu/eu_vatican_holocaust_suit

VATICAN CITY (AP) - An American appeals court on Tuesday dismissed a lawsuit by Holocaust survivors who alleged the Vatican bank accepted millions of dollars of their valuables stolen by Nazi sympathizers.

Holocaust survivors from Croatia, Ukraine and Yugoslavia had filed suit against the Vatican bank in 1999, alleging that it stored and laundered the looted assets of thousands of Jews, Serbs and Gypsies who were killed or captured by the Nazi-backed Ustasha regime that controlled Croatia.

The court didn't rule on the allegations. In its decision, the court said the Vatican bank, formally known as the Institute for the Works of Religion, or IOR, was a sovereign entity entitled to the protections of the foreign sovereign immunities act, and that therefore U.S. courts had no jurisdiction.

Jonathan Levy, who represents the survivors, said he thought he had sufficiently shown that the Vatican bank engaged in commercial activities in the United States, which can serve as an exemption to the protections granted by the immunities act.

"The reason we're disappointed is the court found that dealing in gold teeth from concentration camps was not a commercial act," he said.

Levy said he didn't plan to appeal the judgment. The victims are also suing the Franciscans, the Roman Catholic order, on identical charges, and that portion of the lawsuit is going ahead, he said.

In the last days of his presidency, it appears that Mesic is only concerned with sustaining Tudjman’s legacy by antagonising Belgrade as much as possible. Establishing diplomatic ties with an Albanian non-entity on Serbian soil makes no political sense whatsoever and when the fake state of Kosovo is dead and gone, the antagonism between Belgrade and Zagreb will still be there to be resolved by Mesic’s successor.

Oh, no! Croatia will veto Serbia’s entry into the EU. Have you been dipping into that special Croatian library where Croatia is an important country in the world; where King Tomislav and Zvonimir were kings of might empires that no one has ever heard of before.
The EU will not even ask Croatia for the time of day let alone who or what comes into the EU – Croatia lives because the EU gives it money to fill its treasury. Read about what happen to Poland when it thought they could take on the Russians over a trade issue. They EU told it to pull its head in and keep quite.
