I don't care since my home was only looted and burned down. Yet, people who lost family members should be joyous with this sign.

Before WW2, Croatian professor Milan Suflay and friend of Albert Einstein stated that the "Croatian national blood boils and was ready to erupt" because of Serb oppression by the government and monarchy. Suflay was murdered by Serbs. Einstein, himself, sent a letter for the Croatian voice to be heard and for the violence against Croatians to stop. Croatians knew that freedom would never be voluntarily given to them from their oppressors, freedom was to be fought for. Just like they did in the 90s from the Serb controlled government of Serboslavia. Croatians earned their freedom. Whether you believe in God's will or karma, the Serbs got what they deserved.
(marko, 25 December 2009 06:18)

That's quite the story "Einstein" but do you realize that Einstein wife was Serbian? Or did that slip your mind?

King Ferdinand of Austro set up the Military Frontier or Krajina with Serbs mostly from Kosovo.

The Serbs were insurance against the invading Ottomans and were justly rewarded by the Austrians with special status within the Krajina frontier within Hungaria not Croatia. The Krajina frontier had it's own parliament just like Croatia had it's own Sabor. The differene was that the Croatian Sabor was under Hungarian jurisdiction, the Serbian Krajina frontier was under Austria, not Hungary.

Croatia never owned the land in Bosnia, Herzegovina or the Krajina Frontier. The same goes for many parts of Dalmacia and particularly Istria where the history was primarly Venetian republics until Austria invaded.

In todays Croatia, the Serb population before WW II was between 30-35%, today it is less than 3%.

The Serbian popululation before WWII in Kosovo was close to 50%, now it is less than 3%.

It doesnt' take Einstein to figure out just who has and continues to commmit genocide, numbers don't lie.

As the Turks continue to cover up the genocide committed against the Armenians and Greeks in the early 20th centurey with the implicit support of the United States, so does Croatia with the blood stained hands of the Vatican as well.

Marko, are you really that far from reality!!! you wouldnt even be alive if it wasnt for the Serbs. Do you not get that you lost in WWI when you served your masters the Austrians, you lost in WWII when you served your master Hitler. Croatia as a state lost what dont you get about that you never fought for freedom, you were always on the side of the oppressor. If it wasnt for Serbia you would have lost everything. We gave you land back of WWII, after you lost, because Serbs are Christians and we forgive. Yugoslavia was ran by a CROAT his name was TITO did you forget that too. And your MESIC was president of Yugoslavia, go back to your croatian cafe and talk about what brave cowards your forefathers were to kill one million children women and innocent Serbs. Krajina is Serbia, it will always be it has always been, we will wait 10,000 years to get back, but make no mistake we will get it back.

Serbia can not sue Croatia for Operation Storm, when Belgrade was one of the co-authors of the program. Is Serbia going to sue itself for the actions they caused the Serbs in Croatia? That is why they never sued Croatia in the past and "waited" 15 years to make a claim(only as a counter act). Belgrade can care less about Serbs in Croatia. They always viewed Serbs in Croatia as Orthodox Croats.

Marko,
you have your "Croatian" history a little mixed up. The land never was truly runned by Croatians, but by stronger powers. Croatia didn't invit Serbs in Croatia. They were there and more migrated when the Austrians "invited them" not the Croatians. Where is your historical proof that Serbs were leaving Croatia before the wars? Is that a fantasy or pipe dream to justify the eviction of thousands of Serbs? You are absolutely correct that the Serbs in Croatia had little resistance and no defense. Serbs from Croatia can thank Milosevic/Belgrade for that.

As for "Einstein's letter" that was intended for Croatians voices to be heard. It was intended to defend the Croats against the Nazi regime not against the Serbs. Thousands of Serbs and Croats were killed by Ustasha. Serbs had absolutely zero power in WWII IN Croatia. Don't change your history and make Einstein a Croat nationalist. By the way Einstein married a Serbian women. Just for your reference!

Merry Christmas to all celebrating today!!

Will you sue someone, too for your own faults?

To those who say Serbia is inherent of FRY then Serbia should pay for all that FRY did. You can't have it both ways. Serbia is follow-up entity of FRY in Kosovo case but Serbia is not FRY in Craotia and Bosnia case.

Croatians I do have to admit that when they want something, they usually get it and no one stops them. Just wait till tensions rise to the breaking point. Russia wont stand by and watch Serbia get "bombed" again, not this time.

As for you Marko, it's funny how you have a slavic first name, why don't you research that? And what about WW1, are you going to tell me that Serbia did not help you, that if we weren't there, Austro-Hungary wouldn't have taken you over? Please, how many times have you stabbed us in the back? WW2 Jasenovac, etc, I'll admit Tito was our mistake, we shouldn't have let him become president, but come on, seriously, if you want to play the who was there first game, maybe you should research Dubrovnik and Vukovar.

Croats have been lying for years and the West used to buy it, but no longer. For instance, in 1992 I read a journal article in an Argentine journal in which a Croat wrote "Croats are just like Jews" when referring to their supposed treatment by Serbs. Odd, though, given that Tudjman had written something like "Thank God my wife is neither a Serb or a Jew". Later, having successfully fooled some Jews, Tudjman was invited to DC for the opening of the Holocaust museum, only to be booed vigorously by Jews in the know. Those days are over, now the West sees the Nazi tendencies of the Croats, including their revered saint, the so called Thompson saluting Hitler, the Croat God. You Croats cannot get away with murder and I cannot wait to see your heroes toast in Jail. By the way, Jesus wouldn't have approved of your behavior in WWII or Krajina. Merry Christmas anyway!

"Realize that Croatians have never fought Serbs on Serbian territory"

So does that mean they can kill close to 1 million Serbs in Jasenovac considering its Croatias territory? You are just justifying killing of Serbs because they live on "Croatian territory". Krajina Serbs just want their land back no matter what once they get it back it can be sold to Croats who are willing to pay for it with big Euros. Too bad for all of you that Serbs make up the majority of people living in the spread Balkans just because its Croatias territory doesn't mean you can ethnically cleanse them.

During the terrible WW1, soldiers from all sides came out their trenches to celebrate together Christmas.

Almost 1 century after, Serbia makes such a statement on Christmas. I really don't get why to do this on such a day, but I suits that bilateral relations of almost all peoples in Balkans to Serbia worsens.

marko

500,000 Serbs in the Krajina region? In 5 years Serbs will say that 2 million Serbs were living there. The truth is the Krajina region has been Croatian land for centuries. Croatians welcomed Serbs into their homeland when Serbs were getting taken over by Bulgarians and the Ottomans. Thats the truth. Do your research. And now because a Serbian priest blesses a part of land and there are a few Serbian graves it is now Serbian land?? Realize that Croatians have never fought Serbs on Serbian territory. All wars that have been fought have been on Croatian soil. Milosevic, himself, called for the expulsion of his own Serbs in Krajina to place more Serbs in Kosovo and other parts in eastern Bosnia for Serbs to have a greater population claim. Historical prrof has shown that the majority of Serbs left Krajina in the 90s before Operation Storm took place. The Croatian army came in and just pushed back, with no resistance, what little Serb defence there was. For more than a few centuries Serbs have claimed and tried for land that was never theirs. Over the last century, Serbs have murdered & tortured Croatian politicians, historians, intelluctuals, everyday citzens, etc.., for their claim of power and land. Serbia didn't want to sue croatia at all we didnt want anymore anything to do with Croats but they forced by suing Serbia for genocide.. Croatia is just unbelievable with their suit because these people croats know very well that they and their nazi allies murdered all over NDH million serbs including women children old man, whole families so for me Croatia wants more war but when time comes they will get it this time double then in the 90's so they can sue as again we Serbs of krajina can care less

A lot of you people can't read.
"Ten years ago, shortly after the end of NATO's war against Yugoslavia, Croatia submitted its own genocide suit related to the war in the 1990s.

The court rejected Serbia's argument that it had no jurisdiction in the case, considering that at the time the suit was filed, Serbia, that is, the former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SRJ), was not a member of the UN.

The ICJ, UN's highest court, gave Serbia until March 22, 2010, to respond to the allegations from the Croat lawsuit."

If i recall it was Serbia who advised Croatia to let bigons be bigons. Croatia insisted on the lawsuit and Serbia is now forced to defend itself with the truth. Thanks Croatia for forcing Belgardes hand to ensure justice for the Srpska Krajina.

Great advertising for Croatia and her bid to join the EU. I can't wait to see Zagreb's expression when the Vatican opens up certain archives early next year and finally explains and apologizes for its role in WW2. In the end, it all makes for a wonderful Christmas gift for Mesic and his country.

The truth is that Serbia did not commit any genocide in its Southern Province of Kosovo i Metohija.
It was the Albanian Mafia and KFOR (NATO) who killed their own people as well as killing and uprooting Serbs and Roma.
In time, all of this false propaganda will be exposed to the real truth.

Maybe you should take a break from Ireland and visit Kosovo, I did it was very enlightening.
The comment doesn't surprise me though, Iran denies the Holocaust happened and all the proof there. Some people just choose to believe what they want, not much the world can do to convince you otherwise.

This is Serbia gettin' annoyed at Croatia for what it said to the ICJ regarding Kosovo. Why sue them 15 years after it supposedly took place? not early? Serbia is just diggin' a deeper grave here.
(Ian, UK, 24 December 2009 18:57)

Because it can, that’s why. You people still don’t feel the changing political balance in that region or in fact the world. The only grave being dug is for Croatia; ever ask yourself why Mesic is constantly attacking Serbia or Republika Srpska? That’s simple, there is no US, Vatican or Germany/Austria to help them – they are finished as powers in Europe. Croatia is on its lonesome self, no mummy to help.
This is only the start, there is still the matter of borders to be settled with Croatia because the current ones are only temporary. Have a look at the EU falling over its over Serbia joining.

Both Croatia and Serbia will lose genocide lawsuits against each other. This is just a waste of time, but at least it's fun to watch. Let us not forget that the ICJ found Serbia responsible for not preventing the Srebrenica genocide.

i only don´t understand why the genocide in ww2 won´t be sued.

not just because of the view survivours still alive, but also both genocides are connected, be that from planning/politics/preperation or actors in the genocides, just check the family names of the croatian massmurderers.

Some in the "international community" professes that Kosovo & Metohija have a right to secede from Serbia based on alligations of "genocide" of Serbian Albanians in that region. This should apply tho the Croatian & Bosnian Serbs as well. In both cases, factual evidence should result in a just verdict. Retribution should be awarded by placing the regions where genocide was committed under the sovereignty of the nation who's people were the victims.

Firstly - the timing of this story is obviously only intended as an insult to the majority of Croatians, who are Roman Catholic and are celebrating Christmas at this time.

Shame on B92 for contributing to animosity between the two nations by choosing to publish this story at this time.

Secondly, there was no genocide against Serbs in Croatia during the 1990s. The Serbs were given an evacuation order and they left voluntarily. This fact will come up in court and not only will Serbia lose its case, but it will be shamed in front of the international community.

Last, but not least - this has nothing really to do with any sort of justice for the victims of that war (real or perceived). This is transparently about politics and Serbia's government is not fooling anyone.

Heres the truth. Most of the former yugo countries committed atrocities on Serbia in the past 70 years. Worst of all, the media blames us for killing and committing atrocities. The truth must come out, but will it? The U.S. don't want it to at all. War must be become a reality in the balkans once more and let who wins stay put. These new so-called countries that are popping up only make more of a reason to fight. The only reason why the world doesnt want fighting to begin is because us serbs have the power to eliminate almost the rest of the balkan countries and they surely don't want a much larger serbia.

Hopefully Serbian orthdox church will sue former KLA/UCK people in Kosovo ( which are still celebrated by kosovo albanians but where on terror list during 1990's) for destruction of Christianity within Kosovo, the burned and destroyed 14th century churches speak for what was done in Kosovo, afterward Serbia can take up the Organ trafficking case, and illegal property sales in Kosovo which are still under Serb ownership.

Arlene, in the movie "Taken", that's exactly what the Albanian kidnaper/drug pusher/pimp said to the father of the kidnaped girl after the father of the kidnaped girl told the Albanian kidnaper over the telephone that if he didn't let his daughter go free,he would look for him find him and "bring him to justice". Great flick, you should check it out.

Is Bosnia and Kosova next to be sued?. Who knows maybe Montenegro will be sued as well.
(Nelli_Canada, 24 December 2009 22:07)

Kosova? Why would Serbia sue a tribe in Africa?
I'm baffled.

long overdue and right decision.

i only don´t understand why the genocide in ww2 won´t be sued.

not just because of the view survivours still alive, but also both genocides are connected, be that from planning/politics/preperation or actors in the genocides, just check the family names of the croatian massmurderers.

as far as i know, the un-zone that unprofor had to protect from greater-croatian agression was bigger, had more people living within and more people murdered then in srebrenica. how come no one was jailed yet???

nik, the scandinavian countries are actually much closer together than the yugoslav ones. They do not have strong religious differences, and their wars were not that big compared to what we had. On top of all that, the populations in Scandinavia were not mixed as they were in the former Yugoslavia. You're oversimplifying.

"Is Bosnia and Kosova next to be sued?"

Bosnia already lost its case suing Serbia several years ago.

What is Kosova ? Find it for me on the world map then we will talk no such word exists and even your people know that.

No Ian, Serbia is not suing Croatia because of ICJ but because it happened.

What is the statute of limitations on genocide?
I would think that Jasenovac qualifies for a law suit as well.

Gojko
