I don't understand the people who make posts about the formation of "Greater Serbia". It is clear from what happened in the 90s that such a political entity will never be allowed to exist. Every war that Serbia or Serbs living in other countries start leads to Serb refugees fleeing to Serbia and Serbian territory shrinking. You only have to look at Vojvodina, Sandzak, and Presevo valley to realize that Serbia is far from territorially secure in its own right and attempting to destabilize neighboring countries will backfire resulting in further shrinkage of Serbia's territory and the foreign land on which Serbs reside. The simple fact is that Serbia is surrounded by enemies and by NATO which means that in any serious confrontation Serbia will end up losing the confrontation and the political deals that will be made afterwards will not be in Serbia's or the Serbian people's favor. It is smarter for Serbia to continue along the path of joining the EU and respecting the territory and sovereignty of its neighbors. That is the only sensible path for Serbian politicians to follow, anything else will result in a raucous party and a very nasty hangover for the Serbs.

To sj:

You said:

'...when Republika Srpska leaves Bosnia, Serbia will not allow the Croats to break away from the Bosniaks.'

Three questions:

Why wouldn't Serbia allow Herceg Bosna to join Croatia if Srpska joins Serbia? It seems the logical thing to do under such circumstances. And how could Serbia stop it from happening, anyway?

How on earth do you know (or think you know) all of this? You seem very confident. Do you have 'inside sources'?

What do you mean by Serbs in Montenegro? As far as I can tell, all Montenegrins (except for the Albanian, Croat and Bosniak minorities) are really Serbs. Croats and Bosniaks, too, can only be differentiated from Serbs by religion which, in my country, is meaningless as a measure of national distinction.

This Alice in Wonderland madness that has afflicted the western Balkans since 1991 really needs to stop before it consumes and totally enslaves everything there. Only unity can help...really!

Croatia is financially unviable; Serbia can stand on its own without outside help. That’s the difference.
It was the Austrians that let the Serbs settle in Krajina – funny how they allowed the Serbs to protect their borders but not the mighty Croats, ha, ha! You must let me know the location of the Croatian library so that the rest of the world can visit it and read a revised version of history, you know the one where Croats had a mightier empire than the Romans.
Mesic is constantly crying against the Serbs because he knows the time to settle borders is very close and Croatia is going to have to surrender land to Serbia. Like it or not this is going to happen.
As far as Serbia relying on China and Russia, perhaps you have been spending too much time in that special Croatian library, but China is the king pin of the industrial world not the US, Germany or any western country. Russia is taking control over the EU through energy.
Here is another piece of news, when Republika Srpska leaves Bosnia, Serbia will not allow the Croats to break away from the Bosniaks.

I am not even going to dignify your response with an answer, jesus man you have some twisted views on current events. I dont think a single thing or event will happen that you have just stated. Its all complete nonsense. Krajina being traded for Slavonija??

All you accomplish with your words is making croatians that read that, get a good laugh...

marko

pre 14 godina

im croat, and saying krajina will be autonomous one day is like saying croatia will get back posavina, its not going to happen.

Only realistic thing i see happening is the partitioning of RS and Herceg-Bosna, because if you guys leave BiH, croatians are going to rejoin croatia as it should be.

As for krajina being croatian, we let you guys into krajina becaues the ottomans/turks were all over you guys and they couldnt mess with us, so we helped serbs out by lettting them settle in that region but for them to rebell 150 years later and call it RS of krajina was a big mistake and croatia was never going to allow that.

You have whats your and we have whats ours, accept it, we do....

Also to those that say croatia is nothing without germany or the US, well serbia is nothing without china/russia.

Croatia/ Serbia are only important in the balkans, to think our influence reaches outside this region in the 21st century is a pipe dream at best.

kraj zvonimir was a shepard “king” or in plain English a chief in the locality nothing more. In fact no one has ever heard of this Zvonimir except for the Croats. The ruins in Dalmatia belong to the Romans and more recently the Italians - have a good look at the architecture it’s all Roman Empire or medieval/middle ages Italian. Dubrovnik is an excellent example.
Croatia was a region surrounding Zagreb, much the same as the New England area in eastern the US. Croatia was controlled by various empires/kingdoms until the early 20 Century with the fall of the Austrians and yes Istra belonged to the Italians.
You must be reading history books from a very special Croatian library where they also say the Marko Polo was a Croat.

A greater Serbia can be formed very easily, but you also have to understand that areas such as Krajina may have to be traded for parts of Slovonia simply because will not have contiguous lands but parcels in isolation. I know this statement may hurt some Serbs but practicality has to come first. In regard to Montenegro, the parts that are inhabited by Serbs will come into Serbia while the rest, who cares leave it to the Montenegrines and Albanians.
Serbia has access to the Adriatic Sea already because this was a major condition of Montenegro leaving Yugoslavia. You see the Beograd/Bar railway is being repaired and upgrade together with a large port facilities being or already purchased by Serbia. A small section of Beograd/Bar line goes through Bosnia, but it’s in Republika Srpska so no problems there. Also all the infrastructure in RS is being built to integrate with Serbia, in fact it is a de facto part of Serbia now. The west were on the verge of paranoia over recognizing Kosovo so they gave anything that Milorad Dodik wanted just to stop him from leaving Bosnia, but Dodik wants a greater Serbia as well.
Serbia with RS now controls directly 80% of arable land, water resources and minerals of the old Yugoslavia so a Greater Serbia is nearly there. The rest will be obtained not by force but by negotiation.
The Croats will have Croatia, the Albanians will have Albania and Macedonians will have Macedonia. It will be just a re-adjustment of territory. The Serbs should have done this after WW1 not in the 21 Century.
The events that occurred at the Copenhagen talkfest over climate change gave you a clear indication of who is the upcoming “boss”. This talk fest also had a secret agenda and that was to somehow force China into reducing its industrial output not because of green house gases but to stop its upcoming becoming a financial mega giant – you see China takes over from Japan as the second biggest world economy in March 2010 while in 2011/2012 it’s the biggest.
In the usual manner, the US ambassador started to berate China over climate change and their lack of cooperation. The Chinese then humiliated the US in front of 1000 world delegates and this was not done diplomatically. The Chinese planned this very carefully and it was not done in the heat of the moment, but to let the world know that China was now at the head of the table.
NATO has run to Russia asking for more help, but the Russians are saying that as they do not have a say in that organization then no deal. The Russians know only too well that in the end that NATO needs them and you’re looking at about June 2010 when big changes are being planned for a new security organization where the Russians have a big say. The Russians are building a huge base in Nis and that will negate Camp Bondsteel in Kosovo or the big CIA spy centre in Skopje. The west is finished with only a funeral date to be set for burial.
By stating the west I am talking about the US, the others are only followers. The US is very busy in Afghanistan and Iraq and it has spent a staggering amount of money on these wars that have no end in sight. The Chinese have been funding these wars through loans and then the world financial crises hit and the rest you know. The US was the only superpower on earth and in a matter of less than twenty years it has managed to destroy itself – the Chinese were not scheduled to take over from Japan as the second biggest economy in the world until 2035/2040.
If you were living in the US your great, great granchildren would be in their 80s before the debt is paid or plainly it would be close to the end of the 21 Century. At the moment they are all living off credit from China and others.
In theory there is merit in what you say about a confederal Yugoslavia, but there are too many old wounds for that to happen and the people that kept the 3 Yugoslavias going no longer care.
The western Balkans’ peace was destroyed by the US with the EU tagging along. Now they are stuck with several small countries that are financially unviable and they are bearing the brunt of the cost. The Balkans are the Balkans and there will be always sociopaths in our society and there will be future conflicts no matter how hard we try and stop it.
A Merry Christmas to you too.

I said it 3 years ago that with a strong RUS, an EU addicted to its energy & a socialist, weak USA, the balance of power has changed & Serbs don't have to fight defensive wars lile in the 90s, now diplomacy can achieive Greater Serbia, it's just a matter of time & yet people laughed at me. I haven't been this proud in 16 years. Who needs Seselj & Sloba? We have Tadic!

‘…I can tell you this with confidence that a greater Serbia is on the cards…’

‘…the Vatican and Germany, are puppets of the new world order that no longer involves the west…’

SJ:

A good comment, and I’m glad you connect Balkan issues with wider agendas, which few people in the former Yugoslavia can or want to understand, and consequently aim their hatred and frustration in the wrong direction. This is, of course, what they are meant to do.

But could you clarify what you mean by the above two quotes from your text. How can a greater Serbia be formed without some reaction from the West? Will it include Montenegro, as it should, and thus enable Serbia to regain access to the sea? Remember, too, that if Serbs have the right to all live in the same country, then that also applies to Croats, Albanians, and others.

And who do you believe is running this New World Order if it isn’t elements from the West?

I believe two things: first, that the West could be even more dangerous now than in the 1990s, precisely because it is wounded and no longer unopposed. Rome was also seriously damaged by internal conflict at the point where it transformed from a senatorial republic to an empire.

Second, I feel strongly that only a new confederal Yugoslavia, administered from Sarajevo and comprising of ALL areas where the Serbo-Croatian language is spoken by the majority, can guaranteed peace in the western Balkans and keep sociopathic powers out of the region.

Actually, what's really going to happen is that China will become the dominant power, and subjugate all of us, both in the "West" and "East." The Chinese are not afraid to crack down on their own, and will have no qualms about cracking down on Serbs, Albanians, Croats, Bosniaks, Germans, Americans, Arabs, Brazilians, South Africans, or anyone else in the world for that matter. When Serbia and the rest of the planet become little factories for China Inc., everyone better shut up and behave, or else the Central Committee will blow up Sveti Sava, and kill the Patriarch. They'll do the same thing to the Vatican, to Mecca, everything. At least everyone in Eastern Europe will get used to it pretty easily, as it will be back to the good old Communist days...

Nothing will change and there will not be any greater Serbia,Croatia or Albania. Serbia wants to enter EU more than everything else and will do so with it's existing borders. That means without Kosovo,RS or Krajina as you refer is ''greater Serbia''. Russia or China is nothing compare to US and will never have a chance to compete with US. Albania,Kosovo and Croatia is today strongly united and Serbia has no chance to start war against this three countrys. If it did serbs will be in Sibyria where they came from the beginning. So clearly things will not change because Russia adn China will never support Serbia in another war in the balkans. US on the other side got one of it's biggest bases in Kosovo and will do all in it's power to defend it if Serbia attacks Kosovo.

US will not and can not allow a greater Serbia because US knows that Serbia is just a Russian puppet state and that is danger to US. That is why US split Yugo.

let hope its not instruction for the revised plan for greater serbia...

we all know what happend where that got you last time...
(Nehat Krasniqi, 24 December 2009 11:00)
This is not 1999 and the US is no longer an issue. Have a look at what happened in Copenhagen – abject humiliation by the Chinese. Naturally, the western press glossed over that aspect, but the failure of the world’s greatest talk fest tells you something.
For those that can’t read between the lines, this where China announced its entrance on the world stage as the greatest economy on this planet with no competitor in sight. The Chinese did not have their President or Premier attend any of the meetings, but it was a minion from their Foreign Office who had to walk away regularly from meetings to talk to his superiors. This action has no precedent, but it was carefully planned to send the right message to the world.
The Serbs are being gathered for further instructions and I can tell you this with confidence that a greater Serbia is on the cards and no one is going to lift a finger against it. Why do you think the Croatians are constantly sniping at the Serbs?
The higher ups, such as Stipe Mesic, know that the geopolitical wind is changing direction and there is nothing they can do about it – their traditional allies, the Vatican and Germany, are puppets of the new world order that no longer involves the west and there is no help coming to their rescue as happened in the 1990s.
The Albanians in Kosovo just got a little taste of things to come over the passport issue where they were forced by their allies to back down. Do you think that this would have happened 10 years ago? I don’t think so.
The greatest strength of Serbs is the determination to never let go.
Just keep watching and see how quickly things evolve next year as the pace picks up.

Second, I feel strongly that only a new confederal Yugoslavia, administered from Sarajevo and comprising of ALL areas where the Serbo-Croatian language is spoken by the majority, can guaranteed peace in the western Balkans and keep sociopathic powers out of the region.

kraj zvonimir was a shepard “king” or in plain English a chief in the locality nothing more.

A Merry Christmas to you too.

im croat, and saying krajina will be autonomous one day is like saying croatia will get back posavina, its not going to happen.
