This is really getting interesting. They left the people of this "part of Serbia" with visa requirements violating the constitution of Serbia they claim shall be regarded by ICJ, and now they started to collect money from them.
Principal not a joke.

Johny,

That 5,000 word diatribe of yours is lacking in quality so you attempted to substitute that with quantity. I had only the patience to peruse the first few lines until I lost interest. Please be more succinct in future correspondence. Regards, J.

At Jason:

You said
"Serbia is indeed an independent country per the UN. You can write whatever trash and nonsense you like, but the fact remains that Albanians have egg on their collective faces from being told that they have no control in the north yet again. I know you hate it!"

I don't hate it. I am quite satisfied since slowly but surely progress is being made. Compared with the early 80's and pre-1999 things are going in the right direction.

And according to you what do Serbs and independent Serbia have on their faces for being bombed and for not having control over the vast majority of Kosova. Why the hypocrisy? If you are truly independent, using your logic here, then you must have total control over all the territories you claim are yours. Take those Serbian glasses off for a second.

You also said:
"And for the record, I am anything but impartial regarding this Kosovo situation. International law was broken and I very much support Serbia in the ICJ. I am impartial when it comes to doing my job - which is apolitical (that means without politics) but my opinion is what it is. Anyone who tells you that he/she is impartial here is being dishonest. "

Really? Are you by any chance a member of the ICJ court. If you are not are you then by any chance insinuating that you are more qualified than those judges in that panel in making a final decision? If not, Jason yours is just an opinion and everyone has them. You are no different. The thing is that unlike those judges yours hold no authoritative value. They start here and die here. That is if we take your word and believe you that somehow you are able to separate yourself and your conscience from your job. If not you do take those biased opinions in your job. I have a feeling that like every normal person you cannot separate your conscience from what you are paid to do. Under such circumstances and under an "apolitical" position your conscience (that includes your opinions) takes over your decisions in evaluating on how you deal with and Albanian or a Serb individual in your job. Are you being dishonest with yourself when you say you are somehow able to leave your conscience out of your job decisions?

You said:
"Furthermore, I do not see any complaints from the likes of you when other Americans or internationals here support Albanians... so that is a tad hypocritical, no?"

The difference is that they didn't come here with a holier than thou attitude like you did. Your very first posts had this self-rightous and supposedly impartial attitude. They had this attitude that you know better, and your opinion has more authority because you are an international in Kosova. As if there weren't others in your same position posting here; as if you were one of the disciples spreading to the rest of us the absolute the truth. Only when confronted you stated that you are indeed biased. Don't you think you were being a little bit hypocritical?

You said:
"Maybe you should stop all of your women from marrying my fellow American and German colleagues, because that is not impartial either!"

Well let me be clear once and for all in case you had any confusion about my role. Last time I checked I did not have any control over who marries who in Kosova. I also have no authority to stop marriages in Kosova. I do no live in Kosova and I am not civil employ of Kosova. I don't know if what you wrote came as a result of frustration, bitterness or a lack of ability to put forth a coherent argument. Whatever it is that kind of comment is certainly not worth of someone who's job and duty is to make sure progress is achievable for everyone in Kosova. It lacks the maturity and coherence expected from someone in your position; because as far as I know there is no law that prevents a man and a woman from marrying who they want. You as a fellow American should be especially aware of such freedoms that we enjoy in this great country of ours so I can't comprehend the reason why you advocate to limit those freedoms for the people of Kosova.

The ALbanians crack me up with their claims that the Serbs receive free electricity whilst the ALbanians have paid their bills. This is absolutely ridiculous. Either your elders have lied to you or you guys are lying but be sure that the whole time you have been in Kosovo since around the 17th century you have been usurping Serbian land, wealth and culture. During TITo's time the K-ALbs didn't pay a dime for anything and yet were given lavish gifts by the state for every 9th born ALbanian child part of the tradition a King (Tito) would bestow upon his subjects.

No way my friends - citizens of Serbia in North will pay their bills to serbian national power company, but not to company of illegal state.
(Milan, 22 December 2009 00:12)

So why weren't they paying until this month? Leeches you can have.
(Zoti, 22 December 2009 16:56)

Because they were not getting billed from the legitimate sources until this month.

Riddle me this: What truly independent country can have another country come in against its will, and sell power to the population? It cannot. Pristina cried and screamed that EPS cannot operate in Kosovo and that KEK is the only legitimate power provider. Boy were they wrong! As wrong as the time when they tried to make Serbs use passports... once again, Pristina was told to sit down and shut up.
(Jason, 22 December 2009 08:13)

Ok here we have the impartial Jason again. Do I even need to make up a riddle about what truly independent country gets thousands of NATO troops without its own permission in. Or what truly independent country has to go in front of ICJ to overturn a declaration. Or what truly independent country by the same token has KPS collect bills in a territory it claims its own. Impartial Jason the ironies are many, but the biggest one is you yourself, being the cheerleader of one side yet those that you claim as weaknesses of the other side are weaknesses of your side as well. Open your eyes a little bit.

No ,it is only an european condition, every company is allowed to come and sell in your country, that's a condition of european market,we are just anticipating it..and get rid of a problem! Kek will no longer be accused but you will be,when serbian population will not pay bills,as they used not to pay for ten years!
This is just a wise attitudeof the kosovar part!

Apparently you missed Pristina's repeated statements to the contrary. They have stated that KEK is the ONLY legitimate and recognized distributor of power in Kosovo.

Looks like some people are confused. EPS=Serbian power company. I wonder what the ICJ will think of this?
(Zoran, 22 December 2009 09:58)
Proabably think the same thing the rest of the world has found out. The Serbs were always able to pay the bills and that the plight of the Serbian minority in Kosovo is and has always been a propaganda piece for Belgrade.
What was it poor Serbians being cut off from basic human needs, is that cry going out when they don't pay now.

Serbia (EPS) and Kosovo/a (KEK) have realized that ppl not paying is bad business for both companies. Millions are being lost.

You think that the 2 grids don't share/transfer power with each other?

Wait a few weeks after the bills are not paid and then comment on the Serbian customers and see how EPS will treat non paying customers. They (EPS & KEK) don't care about nationality but on who pays and who doesn't. There is no politics involved, there is no nationality involved, ONLY A COMMODITY that ppl need and you must PAY FOR!

The arguments of 10 yrs of free service and vice versa wash out so you’re all even now!

Starting 2010 lets see if the companies can co-operate to provide better services for all the ppl that live in Kosovo/a regardless of nationality. And I hope the ppl pay for their electricity bill so that the companies can improve the gridlines to provide a better service.

You all act like kids here trying to point a finger or get one up on the other... And you don't focus on the main point: RELIABLE SERVICE with non interrruptions. Currently Ppl are getting power but from now on it won't be free and the companies will have to make a profit. And in order to provide they must collect or you'll still have the same bad service that they currently have. Imagine no power disrruptions and no matter what time of day you can flip a switch and there is power. Hopefully that day comes soon for ALL!

Business ppl don't invest to make a loss, they're in the service industry to make a profit. And as it’s customary in every part of the world you get a bill you pay it if not then you get a shut off notice.

And all business ppl regardless of nationality work together! Be it corporations, small businesses, or the common criminal. PROFIT RULES!

Root for the ppl, ALL PPL to get better service no matter who the service provider is. And that is all they are a service provider and not a NATION or NATIONALITY! It’s all about watts and voltages and I don't think they have a nationality attached.

Your all pathetic in your squabbles, but totally ignore the ppl suffering while you all are sitting in a posh comfortable room while PEOPLE (not serbs or kosovars), but PEOPLE are freezing!

Eight days is certainly not long enough for the large bills to be paid.
Hopefully they will offer payment plans for the families struggling.

Our Albanian friends here don't have an arguement this time. Serbs are not refusing payment of bills because the bills have come from a legitimate source.

Even if some Serbs cannot pay their bills or need more time at least the Albanians don't have anything to do with it or complain because it is not affecting them.

Serbs need to hold their own in Kosovo. For the time being, Albanians have the outstanding demographic majority. However we can invest into the northern part of the region and defacto seperate it from the rest of Kosovo until we are ready to get the rest back.

I would even suggest all Serbs that do not live in North Kosovo should move to the region. It will defacto partition the province but at least the Serbs wont be isolated and can live in a Serbian society. From there we also hold onto to all Monastaries within the rest of Kosovo and draw the line there.

Serbia can work with what it has in Kosovo. It is not alot but we can always have a footing in Kosovo much like we do in Bosnia. It's not of course the reality we like but this is the reality, for now...

What truly independent country can have another country come in against its will, and sell power to the population? It cannot. Pristina cried and screamed that EPS cannot operate in Kosovo and that KEK is the only legitimate power provider.

No ,it is only an european condition, every company is allowed to come and sell in your country, that's a condition of european market,we are just anticipating it..and get rid of a problem! Kek will no longer be accused but you will be,when serbian population will not pay bills,as they used not to pay for ten years!

The article stated:"Kosovska Mitrovica Power Company Financial Director Ljiljan Đorović told Tanjug news agency that electricity is no longer humanitarian as it was last month, but explained that unlike elsewhere in the country, consumers in this area will not pay VAT and TV fees along with their bills.

Đorović added that the bills have to be paid eight days after they are received.

As far as the quality of the electricity is concerned, he said that a decrease in consumption will improve the voltage, which is 140 volts at the moment."

Our Kosova Serbs will probably have to sell their TV sets just to be able to pay for electricity for heating. So sorry, no more free lunch! They must pay, as do all citizens of Kosova.

At Jason:

You said
"Serbia is indeed an independent country per the UN.

In onter words, please keep out of this one. It has nothing to do with you.
