Unfortunately you are right and unfortunately the US had 8 years of a disastrous foreign policy that will be carried over for decades...

The ghosts of Vietnam have already started circling Afganistan for some time.
It was really disappointing to see Obama continuing the neocons'new great game'- control of the central asian energy supplies and thus sacrificing the lives of countless Afganis and soldiers.
Building friendly relations with brutal regimes in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan is also part of the game with their untapped resources and enormous human rights abuses.
The Afghani conflict is not a 'War on Terror',or the Taliban- Bin laden is not mentioned at all- but a 'War for Energy'.
My guess is that Obama will be at war throughout his presidency, however long that lasts, and he will probably keep lying about why he is at war (apparently this surge is to prevent the Taliban from moving to London or Paris to continue their War).
