Chicago what has Mesic's interference got to do with the ICJ?

Its fine to have an opinion on the Kosovo issue at the ICJ but that is not the point.

The point (again) is that Jugoslavija no longer exists due to the efforts of men like Mesic, and yet he acts as if Jugoslavija still exists by meddling in Serbia and Bosnia.

This is not rocket science.

Ok that Bosnia / Kosovo comparison. Legally it doesn't stick because only (former) Republics had the right of succession. The Albanian reply is that they had province status giving them more right than say Republika Srpska to form their own state.

The real point is what seems most important these days is to have a decisive majority in a given territory. Then one can vote for independence.

Perhaps Bosnia and Kosovo are different cases, but every case on the planet is different. The point is that there must be universal principles and the same fairness for all.

I really do not understand whats so internal here... The ICJ allows all UN members to participate... If croatia is disturbing internal affairs of Serbia so is Russia, Romania, and every other nation who participated.

Sadly, he meddles into affairs of RS and Serbia consistently, blantantly and with a venomous desire. With unresolved status problems for: Istria, Slavonia and Dalmatia; the focus should be on improving the democratic, culturual, religious and territorial rights of all citizens in Croatia ie. Serbs, Italians, Hungarians, Czechs and others, rather than meddling into his neighbours backyards.

Well bganon Republika Srpska and Kosovo are to different cases. Don't ask why,you know why.

Maybe bganon knows why but I don't so how about you explain it to me?

The core of Mesic’s problem is that Croatia has once again backed the wrong horse. At the start it looked like Croatia would be the king pin of all the western Balkans and that it would continue, as before, drawing on Serbia’s resources for a pittance while the Serbs lived in poverty. Croatia has always been dependant on Serbia and its common knowledge that it’s financially unsustainable.

Most can see changes on the horizon and so can Stipe and he is frustrated that all Croatia’s work in the last decade or so is turning into a pile of ashes. Look at Croatia’s financial situation, its 57 Billion Euros in debt for a nation of 3.5 million people; it’s nearly sold, or privatized, nearly all of its government-owned assets and its budget is still has huge gaps that is funded by the EU. Now the EU is demanding greater saving from the Croats because money is in short supply for them as well.

On top of everything else there is the Serb refugee question hanging over Croatia’s head. It has to be resolved before putting a foot in the EU. You have noticed that a number of countries have announced that they are vetoing any EU negotiations until the artillery logs are found. This is an excuse not the main cause of halting negotiations.

Croatia is now even more desperate to “trade” with Serbia, but this business with Kosovo has soured the relations even further and any breakthroughs would involve long and protracted negotiations, and that’s if Serbia agrees to hold any discussions. He also knows any agreements with Croatia will be to the benefit to Serbia.

He also knows that Republika Srpska is quietly repairing and building new infrastructure that connects to Serbia proper and one day they are out of Bosnia, while on the other hand his Croats are disappearing from Bosnia. Mesic wants to be written in Croat history as protecting Croats and not being one of many in a line that has brought ruin to them, so the constant whining about RS.

krajina should and will have full autonomy soon and the return of all Serbs back to their home land that's what mesic should talk about and tadic should talk loud about this because it is serbian lands.

Mesic may have known Jugoslavija well enough but his demand as a nationalist, was for an independent Croatia. He is not President now, he is or rather was President of Croatia.

Its a bit late in the day to come accross as an avowed Jugoslav who loves Bosnia, Kosovo etc.

In other words Mesic should have the same respect for independent states as he expected in Croatia, - that other authorites / nations don't interfere in affairs that don't concern them.

Bosnia, Kosovo, Serbia are nothing to do with him and he is making all sorts of arguments now - ie that if Srpska breaks away so will Herceg Bosna.

Well did HE think of that when he supported the destruction of Jugoslavija? Yes, by the same reckoning what happened to all of us happened as a result of earlier decisions by Slovenians and Croats to break away. No I am not ignoring Milosevic's role but that isn't the point in this issue.

The point is that Mesic may or may not have his heart in the right place, but he is no place to lecture. He would be better sticking to universal principles rather than keep voicing off.

Love the picture. Not sure if he was really looking at Tadic, but it's great. For an old yugo, like Mesic to keep speaking out about Serbia's policies means in his retirement he wants everyone to remember him as a nationalist and forget about the damage he's done to national pride, the economy, and betrayal of war heroes. No doubt he was under a lot of pressure from the EU and hague the entire time, but he sold out and couldn't follow in Tudjman's footsteps.

i think it's time for mesic to mind his own business and not worry about somebody Else's and krajina should have full autonomy and the independence as soon as possible because it was Serbian land before croatia was and not part of Yugoslavia so it should be allowed full independence and serbia should speak about this issue now and all Serbs to return to their historical land of krajina and there is about 300,000 Serbs and before the war over 750,000 so all should be able to go home with out any prosecution are anything over this issue and the Serbs should speak now not later because it is historically Serbian and on paper so lets get this out. lets take it to international courts with lawyers and all because it's 100% Serbian land.and he could stop dreaming about vojvodina because that's done and staying in serbia because vojvodina was never hungarian land in history and had nothing to do with them so the status is done so he could stop on that issue totally.

Here we go once again Mesic giving his anti bias opinion against Serbs, instead of worrying about Croatia and its failing objections he hides it by opening another topic,Mesic should forget Kosovo , Republic of Srpska will soon follow and then afterward we can say the same for Krajina where 500,000 people where ethnically cleansed. Each family from Krajina region who lost its homes and land should be payed out. As for Kosovo that is Serbia's problem not Croatia's you have enough on your plate when hopefully Serbia counter sues Croatia in March 2010 for Krajina, Jasenovac etc.. Good Luck because you will need it!!!

Mesic should give the Serbs in Serbian Krajina autonomy until the time is right for Krajina independence. Also the italians in Istra should get autonomy. I think Serbia should support such a move 100%.

There he goes again sticking his nose into Serbian internal affairs. The best way to deal with Mesic and his citizens is to boycott everything Croatian and ignore that country completely.
They are insignificant, after all, so why pay attention to them?

And Croatia is a peace loving nation, a nation with a proud history of supporting Nazi Germany during the days of mass genocide and human extermination, further glorified by Thompson concerts which we all attend.

Mesic's further concerns regarding Serbia and it's internal matters fills me with warmth and security, knowing he cares. How touching.

Well Mesic if recognising new realities is the thing that makes you decide then if Bosnian Serbs decided in a referendum to break away from Bosnia then you would support this 'new reality'.

You wouldn't? Its amazing isn't it, how some people are so hard and fast with their principles - moving their goalposts every time they are left wide open due to previous stupid defending.
