having a healthy small business opportunity is good for all, currently serbia is plagued with the fact that if a small mom&pop shop opens, soon the inspectors will rein in on them, and find tiny little errors to cast their multiple hundreds of thousands of dinars fine threats.... or exercise their right of corruption, and demand a bribe to look the other way..

Lazar, there is nothing wrong with private businesses, no one is forcing you or others to buy a product or service from a private company, on the contrary a private company offers better quality products and services strictly because they are interested in making a profit. If it's services or products are of poor quality then no one is going to buy from them, simple as that. I am much more horrified of the idea that Serbia returns to its socialist past as it was in Yugoslavia where the government controls everything until the money runs out and we arrive to the situation we are at today in Serbia, bad roads, worse bridges, a nearly bankrupt airline, lousy rail service, etc etc.

But what Serbia needs to be very careful of in a free market economy is that there is not one dominant private company to create a monopoly as is the case with Delta Holding. Instead the more privates companies in each aspect of the market there are the more competition it will create, pitting them against each other to make their product/service better or cheaper than the other. So who wins in the end? The answer is definitely you, the consumer.

Private business and development do not go hand in hand. Private business is interested in its own profits primarily. DS supports private business interests, not real development. And frankly they have to if they want to join the EU.
