The CIA prisons business surfaced only after the proverbial “wheels came off the wagon” and the Iraq war was going to hell in a hand basket. They had the prisons a number of years before being exposed and it was not revealed because of the “freedom of the press” is enshrined in the US constitution.

All of these facts were exposed because of the failure of US to control Iraq and then it was time to begin to cut and run. You see Amer there were great interests at stake; big money to be made out of Iraq, but when it started to fall apart, the ones to benefit the most wanted to wash their hands and come out clean. So the secrets began to be leak. I was told that the Abu Grahib prison story was first published in a local small town paper not in the big newspapers in the cities.

The only difference between Pravda and the current media is that our media is controlled using better techniques. You and I are told what we should hear and not the truth.

'The sources you seek are not in the media because who dares to expose something like that? What editor would allow a story like that to be published?'

Remember how the world learned about the secret CIA prisons abroad? It was in an expose written by an American journalist, published in the Washington Post. (It was after reading it that I decided it was worth going back to the U.S. from my self-imposed "exile" in Prague.) She - Dana Priest - even got a Pulitzer for it.

It’s no conspiracy theory, but a fact. It’s an ugly fact considering they refer themselves as great believers in democracy and good governance. How do you think western politicians become wealth? The method is the same whether a small insignificant or high profile politician; the only difference the amount you receive for the level of service provided.
Unfortunately you value the western system too much and can’t believe corruption would occur on this level. I honestly wish I was wrong, but I am not. Its common knowledge that Tony Blair does the speaking circuit in the US and Europe and that he is paid anywhere from $100,000 to $150,000 for a 30 minute talk. Even his wife is asked to give talks on subjects and she charges $50,000 – this is also common knowledge. She was even in Australia as part of a fund raising campaign, which that charity paid for her services, including airfares and accommodation, but after her irrational behavior they did not ask her again.
The sources you seek are not in the media because who dares to expose something like that? What editor would allow a story like that to be published? Which media owner would allow a story published in his or her paper considering they use politicians to do their biding. When the US was about to invade Iraq, all journalists that did not support the Government were sacked – from recollection that was about 600 journalists in various media. This is not a joke either, but fact.
This method of bribery is talked about by people who know, but it’s never published because we live in a free democratic society that values and upholds freedom of the press.

'Trajkovic is wrong on thinking that Serb participation would make the difference for the K-Serb community '

Here's where I can't agree with you, Evol. Prishtina needs to be seen as cooperating with those Serbs who are willing to cooperate with them, for their own purposes (getting along with their international supporters). When something is in a government's interest they are likely to do it.

SJ,

what you described is called a conspiracy theory. You did not provide any sources. I honestly don't believe that she is receiving any money from EU / USA or KG (Kosovo Government).

Tony Blair is a high profile politician...she is who? I can't even remember her name.

The US/EU is paying, that’s who. In the west this type of payment is not referred to as corruption because whilst in office the person does not receive a Euro. The payments start to be made after leaving politics; for example, Tony Blair, when he left politics and he went on speaking engagements, now his is on the Middle East band wagon.
The point of all of this is he gets paid $100,000 to $150,000 per speaking engagement and that’s for a 30 minute talk – he would have about 50/60 per year. Then there are the cheques that have arrived from the various institutes on Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, such as the Institute for Democracy, they tend to just send a 5 or 10 million cheque. He received $1 million from Israel for something or other.
This goes on and on, but if you measured his wealth just before leaving politics and then again 10 years on you will find that he would be $100 million richer. That’s how it’s done.

Here we have a Serb representative that lives in Kosovo and wants to help Serbs in Kosovo.
On the other side you have Serb politicians (outside Kosovo) that live light years away from Kosovo that preach nationalism and hatred.
Well, Serbs in Kosovo can:
- Choose to help themselves
- Choose to enhance further the carriers of the politicians in Belgrade
I hope that finally Serbs in Kosovo choose to look after number 1 (themselves) and unfortunately number 2 (Politicians in Belgrade) are looking after themselves.
I did mention in one of my previous comments.
If you vote you control your region.
If you don’t it is no loss to us, we win elections and govern in Serb populated areas.
If you guys think the Serbia is close think one more time.
Serbia is miles away.
Only you can help yourselves.

By electing a Serb mayor, we will be given a possibility to have legal influence on the events in our communities, to contest the decisions which are jeopardizing our position and demand protection of our rights which we deserve as the people who have inhabited these parts for centuries,” wrote Trajković.

Where is Belgrade's beef in that?
I'm sorry but ostracizing her seems plain stupid, when all she is trying to do is improve the lot of the Serbs in Kosovo.
At this point, the only victims of Serbian nationalism are Serbs themselves.

So Trajkovic openly admits the rights and protections of Serbs in Kosovo are in jeopardy if they don’t go along with the plans of Pristina.

Democracy is a right, not something to beat the heads in of your population.

I’m simply shocked and appalled she claims this is OK.

If she really wanted to fight for our rights, she wouldn’t not run for public office simply line her pockets with cash.
