It looks to me that the Russians are getting ready to recognize Kosova. Why else would they be going to Prishtina to buy real estate. This should be interesting when Vuk throws a tantrum and ejects the ambassador from Russia for recognition of Kosova.

The Serbs should buy some real estate in Prishtina before they also recognize Kosova. Otherwise, prices will go up and they will end up buying at the top, after all the prime real estate is sold. "The early bird catches the worm", as they say.

'What, people don't disappear in mysterious circumstances in America? People don't get murdered there and those crimes are unsolved? '

Sure, attractive young white women - just watch CNN, that's all you see. Just not journalists with government secrets: journalists would kill to be taken so seriously. The most they can hope for is a Pulitzer - not nearly as impressive as having a prize for investigative journalism named after you.

Ms or Mrs Peggy you do remember mr.Kasparov's case right?. Nothing is more expensive than freedom of speech. What if someone in Russia came out with a DVD claiming to have evidence on blah blah.......! How long do you think he/she would last?.
(Nelli_Canada, 12 December 2009 03:46)

About as long as they would last in Washington.
What, people don't disappear in mysterious circumstances in America? People don't get murdered there and those crimes are unsolved?

BTW Nelli, threatening the life of this Russian is really stupid. Do you honestly think that you could get away with it or that you wouldn't get a Russian boot squashing you like an ant if you did it?
Take another look at what happened in Georgia and no Russian official got killed there.

Relax guys! The Russian Ambasador is coming to Kosovo to buy real estate property for the future Russian Ambasy in Kosovo!
in fact he is coming to talk about the possibility to have his pipelines throught kosova/albania for italy...

Is he coming to claim Kosovo as heart of Russia or what?
Don't get surprised if he wont be allowed to enter Kosovo!!!
(Oso Kuka, 12 December 2009 10:35)

Oso Kuka do you know what has happened in 1908?. Let me tell you my friend!, in 1908 it was Russia who opened a consulate in Mitrovica, they were told by Isa Boletini(Albanian Hero) not to do so, in fact Boletini sent a word telling them that if you bring a Russian in Mitrovica or anywhere else in Kosova you must bring coffins with you as well. After 4 days the Russian representative was found dead in that so-called Russian consulate in Mitrovica. Question is does Mr. Konuzin know this?, I'm sure he does. This is just one of many historical facts.

Peggy if Kosov is controlled by Belgrad why dont we use Dinars in Kosovo, why dont we get penssions from Serbia...

(Allez, 10 December 2009 23:33)

Allez,

I guess you have not been to the north of Kosovo. Dinars are the official currency, Serbs receive their pensions from Belgrade, and there are numerous Serbian government offices in all the municipalities.

So, Russia doesn't recognize Kosovo Albanian's UDI and they defended Serbia's integrity at the ICJ. Now, a key Russian is going to visit Kosovo without any respect for Kosovo's Albanian authorities. What are you going to do about it? If you so called country is so powerful and my country "USA" has your back, why don't you try to stop him? Because you cannot. You are powerless to do anything except sit back and complain like a bunch of spoiled teenagers. You know, anger comes from incompetence. Incompetent people are so angry. Try to learn something other than drug smuggling or sex slavery and then you may feel empowered legitimately. By the way, you may want to brush up on your Russian for the visit.

Nelli_Canada

Nelli, Russians have freedom. Please provide some evidence of what you claim here. At last Russians are governed by their own, unlike K-Albanians who take orders from everyone else but their own.

I’m sure the Ambassador will learn something from the Albanians in Kosovo considering their long and proud tradition of living in a democratic country. Considering you guys learn you’re so called democracy from the US I’m surprised that you even call it democracy. Here is something for you to consider; why would the US give you Albanians something it does not have!
(sj, 11 December 2009 23:59)

Yep, they should look up to Serbia, and its impacable record of democracy, which of course is coming from your mothership, Russia.... what a bright and happy future will we live in than.

And yet the MOST notorious criminals seem to be the radical Albanians themselves. Aren't they being investigated on many fronts- sex slave trade in the UK; money laundering in Switzerland and Austria; drug trafficking throughout Western Europe.....and you're throwing "stones" at the Serbs??? I believe that the West will soon see through your "glass house" and your ICJ trial will disprove you abilities to be an independent nation.

And what could they do.. barking, well a barking dog is never dangerous...
(The Swiss, 10 December 2009 21:14)

Agree with you. I say let this ambassador go in and bark a little bit. Who cares what he thinks and says. Same old song, serb suffering, albanians do not.

He will come, have a speach and go. Big deal. K-Alb should focus on economic development, which will give them the means to build their own modern army, with US armament. That's the key, and the way to peace. Peace will come for sure if mutually assured destruction is achieved. Only then, Serbia will respect Kosovo and will not dare to send its pawns to provoke Albanians.

Than you can tell this guy, to go bark somewhere else, cause he won't step inside Kosovo without permission.

UK

You can talk to God himself, but unless K-Serbs are willing to change their lives and not listen to Belgrade, nothing will change for them.
And,obviously you are in position to change anything when it comes to Kosovo. Just empty talk Mr. Konuzin.
(Kosova-USA, 10 December 2009 16:03)

So, by your own admission the only way K Serbs will get electricity, schooling, no violence against them and able to return to their own homes is if they declare their support for the very people who are causing these problems? Hardly what anyone would call balanced and fair negotiations. This would explain the USA in your name I suspect. Things will never progress as long as the US are inteferring where they are neither wanted nor have any right to be. Sadly, my own country (UK) is guilty of similar interferance.

Who told you I am upset about his visit, it is strange you deducted that. Let all visit you were upset when Bill Clinton visited not me.

What I am upset is that how far away Serbian and Albanian point of view are. Really far, also what upsets me is that you really say Kosovo is Albanians fault. But I have to accept that you cant change opinion no matter how much i try.

Rote Kapelle

I guess Russia is interested in bringing long lasting and thus acceptable for both sides peace rather than in automatic supporting Serbia. And if you accept this the visit may prove to be positive for coming out of the deadlock we have in Kosovo & M. Serbs cannot take the status quo they were imposed while common Albanians (outside the ruling gangs) are entrapped in the reservation they strive to obtain.

It is too stupid sitting and waiting for the other side to wink first. Also both sides understand that the balance of force is slowly but shifting in the favor of Mainland Serbia. So such visits of good will aimed at a compromise may have positive results. Let’s wait for what he says when he is back to Belgrade. At least this man’s point will be hard to ignore.

So the internationals arrange for him to talk to a newly-elected mayor who enthusiastically describes his plans for improving life for his constituents and the Russian ambassador goes back with arguments that things have improved - under Russian pressure, naturally. Later, if the ICJ ruling goes against Serbia, Russia can simply abstain during the next SC vote. Rada Trajkovic said, a year or more before the DoI, that the Russian and Chinese ambassadors were trying to convince the Serbs in Kosovo to cooperate with Prishtina, which suggests they were already getting tired of the fight. The Russians don't have to vote against recognizing Kosovo and Serbia never has to recognize it for Kosovo to obtain broad recognition throughout the world and UN membership. And we can all turn to other things. The coming baseball season, for example.
