Aleks,

Please tell us in what year you expect Serbia to join the EU.

Concerning Iceland, I would like to inform you that Iceland has already adopted 80% of the European acquis communautaire. For this reason, Iceland will join the EU in 2012.

""Serbia is obviously well prepared," said Bildt and added that he believes that Serbia can progress toward EU membership faster than other Western Balkan states that might need more time and effort."

What a surprise.

My comment from the other thread: http://www.b92.net/eng/news/comments.php?nav_id=63615#hrono

"As for Serbia's accession, the EC has already publicly stated that Serbia can rapidly progress in the accession process. Serbia certainly does have sufficient number of high quality bureaucrats to be able to understand and effectively implement all chapters of the acquis communautaire as opposed to just adopt the laws and not implement cruicial aspects (Ro & Bg for example)."

And M's reply:

"Aleks,

You seem to think that it will be easy for Serbia to join the EU.

When do you expect Serbia to become an EU Member State? In 2012 with Croatia and Iceland?
(Mircea, 9 December 2009 20:59)"

I never said easier, faster yes...

Go east!

"They added there should be no break in EU enlargement, since Croatia and Iceland are to become members soon."

Croatia and Iceland will join the EU in 2012.

After 2012 it is not clear when the next wave of EU enlargement will take place.

First, let us see if Serbia will apply for EU candidate status on 22 December.

Personally, I am getting so sick and tired of these "games" and "mind-games" that the EU representatives are constantly playing with upon Serbia. Jumping through hoops and going through mazes aren't the way to become part of any organization. All of these games and conditions should be proof enough that the EU doesn't want Serbia "as it is".....but rather wishes to conform Serbia into what "they want". It's the 21st century's way of "bloodless" domination over a country- equivalent to a military victory and subjugation of its peoples...and Germany and the rest of the EU are cleverly disguising their actions through "smoke and mirrors"- and a great deal of propoganda money!!! Serbia- be careful what others wish for you.
