there is more to it than writers like "Aleks" are realizing.

I am convinced that the european states, the bigger ones among them even more, are all in a kind of competition to gain influence in that part of europe.

the Russians are very smart in that regard ( they chose the chinese way of approach - very similar to the way the chinese have secured the african continent for their needs ), the US-americans have chosen the violent way of getting influence in the region ( and once again they will learn that this strategy is the poorer one, like they had to realize it in Iran, Iraq and other theatres ) and sooner or later they will realize that the Albanians are not that reliable as they thought they would be.

so, the EU and the US-americans will have to swallow a bitter pill in the future, I guess.

but that of course, is only my subjective point of view.

let´s just see what future brings!

RUS uses energy to control the EU, gives Turkey incentive for making peace with Armenia by lobbying the EU to let Turkey & providing it with cheaper energy than had it opted for Nabucco, which defeated EU dreams of energy independance for which it was going to let in Turkey, meaning RUS neutralized a likely Euro-Turk alliance meant to destabilize RUS' relationship with C. Asia. Well done.

Serbia should get even closer to Russia, and the yanks and EU will just throw more and more money at them to gain influence. This is how things work, and as we can see, it is already happening big time.

Stratfor still doesn't have a clue.

Yes right, the EU listens to Turkey and Russia!

If the EU kicked their protogé Tadic in the face especially after all the help and promises he garnered from them before the last elections, then by not unfreezing the ITA, then they would simply have had less pliant partners in Belgrade in the near future and kaboom goes their balkan stability pact and all things associated.

There also seem to be a new thread that is gaining currency in the usual circles that somehow Turkey is now expanding it influence and somehow this would be a good thing and ignoring how unstable the underpinnings of Turkey still are, i.e. the massive disparity between city and countryside, its economy, its poor relationship with the US, the real aims of the AKP party and whether the Generals have really ceded control to the AKP to run the country or have just slackened the reins etc. etc. As if the Turks are seen by any means as a neutral, non-serving party when it comes to the Balkans...
