Greece postpones Macedonia's EU negotiations

One European diplomat said that Athens will not back off on the blockade of Macedonia’s negotiations until the presidential elections in Greece, scheduled for March.

What does the presidential election in Greece have to do with the Fyrom's EU negotiating date?It's not the president who exercises foreign policy but the goverment.

B92 will have to elaborate on its sources regarding the stance of EU countries.There were several countries including France,Spain,Malta,
Romania,Cyprus etc who supported the Greek position.
The bottom line is what counts is the Greek stance alone and nothing else.

My guess is the subject won't be visited at all in the next six months.Gruevski and milososki have both made statements confirming their entrenched positions and i don't think the new EU Spanish presidency will waste their time with nationalist losers.

There was never a macedonian identity or language different than the Greek one despite all the attempts made by your communist ancestors.

Despite the fact that we had the balkan wars and the subsequent exchange of populations with Bulgaria it is clear from your posting that you still feed on your irredentist claims against Greece.

What this is - is a great cover-up!

The Greeks (under their dictator Metaxas) did an ETHNIC CLEANSING of the Macedonian people,so that their land could be stolen and given to Greeks. They have stolen, raped and cleansed over 400.000 of Macedonians. It was not as far back as ancient History, but a few decades ago. Now the Greeks (STILL!) don't let the Macedonians claim the land of their forefathers. And they do this TODAY WITH THE HELP OF EUROPE!!! It'll be the same story all over again. Europe will stand ashamed of these events, and the names of today's European leaders will be marked in shame.

But, that's the hypocrisy of Europe today;
They "export democracy" all the way to Afghanistan, but cannot implement it on European ground!

Macedonians are Slavs and I am proud of that, I wish the other Macedonians were proud of that too....

But Greece still sucks, any problems GR and MK have are their fault. We are a subgroup of the Slavic race who formed our own identity in the ancient territory of Macedonia just as the Bulgarians formed their own identity and the Serbs formed theirs. Originally, we just wanted to live free as Slavic Macedonians, then Greece comes along and says "No, even though your people have lived in Macedonian territory for over a thousand years you can't be Macedonian." Ok, then go tell the Anglo-Saxon English they can't be English because the original English peoples were Kelts.

Now Greece goes and does this, blocking our EU hopes, and now the people are going to want more statues of Alexander the Great and are going to name more public buildings after him and Philip until there's so much representation of ancient Macedonia in and around Skopje that no one will believe Greece, and it will just become a common truth that Alexander the Great and Philip were indeed the same race as us Macedonians today. I don't like it either, considering my heroes are Pitu Guli, Prince Lazar and everyone else that fought to free Macedonia from foreign oppression, not some conquerors that lived so long ago that their race and nationality are being debated, but Greece just could have let it be, and it would be known to the world that there are both Greek and Slavic Macedonians, not just one or the other...
