"despite the overwhelming pressures from the outside, it is essential to continue fostering democratization -- to fight corruption, to move towards intl standards on a variety of levels."

This is a nice thought, but impossible to achieve given the criminal track record of the "Type 2" leadership. They have had 10 years to improve the economy and create jobs, but have little to show for it except expensive cars bought with EU and US funds.

Are they and their criminal cliques resigning from office? Nope.

They have two years at most. If nothing changes then...

Very nice from their side... So why they haven't similar worlds in 80's or 90's??

For the "Preservation Peace" in Kosovo, the Christian Serbs must be allowed to have their churches and monasteries rebuilt and functioning again.

>>We must modernise and democratise further our society and any barriers (political/economical) must be lifted. It is painful but it is the second price that our guys of type II MUST pay for our nation.

Thanks, ben, as usual, for your contribution. it can't be easy to be so frank, self-critical and vulnerable in the midst of all of this gross hostility. so for that i appreciate it all the more.

my own opinion: there is room for both the "type 1" and "type 2" leaders, and those in between. kosovo/a is new, young and developing -- it takes all kinds of leadership, both intellectual and military, and the 2 wings, if you will, will need to work together to progress.

also, despite the overwhelming pressures from the outside, it is essential to continue fostering democratization -- to fight corruption, to move towards intl standards on a variety of levels. what serbia or others are or are not doing is really not the point, should not be.

i've been espl.ly busy of late, and have kept pretty quiet here. but read and follow everything, of course. i am not UN-happy with the icj process, despite some of the reactions, and how the "news" is covered, which is utterly to be expected. at least they offer the transcripts, each day, which is better than nothing. a myriad of different, opposing sides weighing in, for at least as many reasons, as many motivations. in a way, kind of separated from all emotion (which we never are), it is quite fascinating, and on ONE level a strange kind of manifestation of intl democracy. except that our (Kosovo/a's) very independence is on the line! we always say here that the rights of minorities (eg those of the LGBT community) should not be put up to "democratic" votes, under pressure of the tyranny of the majority. so many contradictions.

nevertheless, i hold exactly to my original prediction -- they will never rule IN FAVOR of serbia -- it will not happen. not because of being "nato puppets, bla bla" but because of what serbia has caused there, certainly in the 90s, but for the entire century. even as ethically challenged as they might be, the icj can NEVER rule to support.

at any rate, thanks again for sharing your thoughts, and ciao!

Criminals Thaci & Sejdiu should top making redundant statements to people who dont recognize their authority...but I guess after last election voter turn-out, that even includes Albanians.

Calling on the people?
Its ordinary people that are least to blame for this.

What the Thaci and company need to do is to clean up their acts, what the people have to do is to respond to this with disgust and to demand change.

Of course what is really going on here is that they are scared that Kurti will be able to muster support against the corrupt and dirty practices of the ruling elite.

Here is how I see this stuff:

There was a brutal oppression.

You had in one hand guys that claimed to be literate, experienced and patriots.

They thought the best way to resist is the Gandhian stile of resistance. On contrary to Gandhi who was calling the people in peaceful protests in the streets our guys was leaving the people passive at their homes in a day-by-day higher passivity and depression. Instead of guiding the nation, energising it they depressed the people.

Moreover on daily basis they were talking about the absolute military superiority of Serbia and that any resistance for us would be a shoah. Instead of energising the nation they were terrorising it as much as Milosevic’s apparatus perhaps even more effectively.

On the other hand you had young boys with some not very known intellectuals (except one perhaps- Demaci) that beside their exemplar courage they showed to have the intellectual independence (and I underscore this), maturity and self-respect.

They said clearly to their own Gandhian leaders: we are not buying your story of extreme passivity and depression and moreover

To Serbia: we don’t buy your story of your military infallibility- we can do it.

These guys (of type II of course) were ready to pay the price of the freedom whatever it takes and they did that. Thousands of them paid with their lives and the lives of their dearest’s persons.

Now when the game started to be tuff the guys of type I did not sacrifice anything and were the fist one to leave the country in their fancy cars and settled in already pre-arranged comfortable places for the “painful” emigration.

Now the bet of the guys of type II was won. Today we enjoy our freedom thanks to THEIR sacrifice (anyone of us should ask himself: what did I do when it was tuff- and you will get the price that the guys of type II paid).

Now in the days of freedom our “literate” guys came back home and from Gandhians now they wanted to become political leaders of the new state for which they invested almost nil. They also wanted to have beside the political also the economic advantages that the freedom brings.

Well from my perspective:

if I need an exclusive distributor of say coca-cola for Kosova I am not going to give it to the guys of type I. That economic advantage will GO definitively to the guys of type II.

And here is ALL I repeat ALL the incriminations towards the ex UCK boys- they got some if not all the economic privileges. But they got what they invested and risked for.

This is the main issue today in Kosova. The Rugova boys wanted to have the economic advantages of the freedom without taking any risks.

All the incriminations of the criminal activity are pure falsity fabricated from our enemies and supported (consciously or unconsciously) again from the same guys that were preaching Gandhi while terrorising (consciously or unconsciously) their own people.

Today after a decade I guess we can start to be slightly less emotional and judge rationally. Our fighters now have gained some profits and it is time that some account is made: political, economical.

And who did misdeeds to anyone must pay.

We must modernise ad democratise further our society and any barriers (political/economical) must be lifted. It is painful but it is the second price that our guys of type II MUST pay for our nation.

Hey PRN & co.,

do you think they might be getting you ready for some bad news?

Seems like Sediju & Thaci dont want ethnic-Albanians to get restless with the way things are going - now where did I here them threaten violence if things didnt go their way ? All the time I guess and most recently at the ICJ!

- one wonders what bad news your being prepared for PRN & co.???

Oh what a tangled web we weave when at first we plan to deceive....

......your only deceiving yourselves if you beLIEive in the US concept of dependent independence!

Soon you will realise its best to talk and come to a genuine set of negotiations that will provide a solution that is win-win and acceptable to all in Serbia's UN recognised province of Kosovo & Metohija and the soverign UN recognised state to whom K&M belongs to.
