It won't happen anytime soon. Kosovo is totally dependant (opposite of independent) on the United States. It's a satellite, pure and simple. The Americans are the new Ottoman Empire -- except they aren't goting to be occupying Kosovo for the next 500 years.
The American economy is unstable. America was the #1 creditor nation in the world 30 years ago. Today it is the biggest debtor on the planet. America's national debt is growing at such a pace that in 50 years all US tax revenue will go to service interest on the debt.
The United States is in the first stages of an economic collapse. All Serbia has to do is be patient and develop its ties with Russia and China, because eventually the Americans are going to leave the region and then we'll see how independent Kosovo really is.
Without the might of the United States behind the Kosovo-Albanian cause, Europe will change it's policies. Even with strong American pressure, Europe isn't united behind the idea of an independent Kosovo. When you take the Americans out of the equation, Europe's policies will change.

Kosova is not independent, no matter how many embassies are in Pristina. The real test of independence is you being able to govern yourself and not by EULEX and the way that’s going they will be there until the 22nd Century; borrow money and attract industry and neither of these will happen if Belgrade does not give you the green light.
In regard to Taiwan, once again you guys should not stray too far from Pristina because you are clueless about that region. Taiwan has good governance and does not suffer from corruption like Kosovo, even your judiciary werer caught up in a EULEX-type sting as well as your PM Thaci. Kosovo is Serbia's heart? I think the logic is coming from stomach for those who argue this way. How can it be Serbia's heart when its not even populated by Serbs not to go further into historical, cultural and other details?
My education tells me that the heart physically is a crucial organ in the well being of the person, but how come Serbia is functioning without Kosovo pumping money and taxes for it anymore? There must be an explanation, or otherwise some here are brain washed.
Kosovo is in the heart of Russians? I am surprised Russians have feelings about such matters. They have never proved to have such, but instead they have always had interests, which unfortunately have proven to be against the prosperity and stability of the Balkans and Europe.
This has a price for sure for Kosovo. But this price is not so high as some are arguing it is. It can be paid. Kosovo Independence is a process that can't be overturned no matter what. Albanians are all freedom lovers and unless they are all eliminated from the planet earth this can't happen. On the other side the world has shown great support for the independence. More about to show their support. Let's hear ICJ opinion and see what happens next. Remember Kosovo has declared independence only in 2008, almost two years ago now. But the achievements are too great to be avoided, unless you choose to.
This declaration has implications, but its not the bottom line.

Kosovo is already independent, Russia can't block that - all it can block is UN membership. Working together with the US and the EU, there's no reason that Kosovo can't become a prosperous, well-governed. Taiwan has managed it, after all.
I been looking for a way to understand Srbian prospective.
Serbia is offering Autonomy.
Kosovo all it can do live in limbo, but also make agreements with Albania and develop as Autonomy but with Albania which is more welcomed by 90% of population.
So no need to Join UN since it is already in.
All people get Dual Citizenship and hence in 50 years Referendum and there will be Unification.
The ambassador wasn't feeling very well when he made this statement. Please forgive him for these statements.

Serbs have always proclaimed that they will never let Kosovo go and it is part of the very faith and culture and yet you claim that this Russian has made a stronger statement or that he feels stronger about it.
Maybe we just have to "cut" his heart out than. The only reason that Serbia wants Kosovo is becasue of trepce and they cant even care less about it. It is crazy to think that someone is going to force a nation to be part of another nation when less than 10% is Serbian not to mention that they are indipendent. They will try to do anything to slow or sabotaz Kosovo progress but dont forget be carefull what you wish for it might came back and bite you in the behind. Kosovo doesnt want to be part of Serbia end of the story.
yes, we know, albanians are the majority in kosovo, and they should have autonomy, but this big idea of independance is nearly dead. the people are no better off, and europe's soldiers want to go home. UN is still there, and will remain so forever, due to Russia. You have to understand that it's a done deal, Kosovo will be a black hole, all that aid, all that money...and yet people still have no work. all the leaders, thaci, hardanaj, all criminals and crooks. everyone knows this. wake up. Kosovo is Serbia..and Serbia is best of all doing a fantastic job with the matter. No violence, no rash decisions...they have played this by law, w/ patience. don't you realize why? because when the time comes, not just Serbia, but the whole Europe can say..hey they followed laws, protocols, and are not as we portrayed them to be. That's all while they wipe out albanian rule down in Kosovo and reset their borders. This is very possible..and Albania nor Kosovo has nearly enough power to stop them. This is a long process..but will work out in Serbia's favor.

Indeed a surprising statement but is only shows in which direction the wind is currently blowing...

Mr Putin will come to power in 2012 and soon to follow Russia will start to dominate in the economical world leaving the ones who don't agree with us Russians out in the cold. Until Russia vetos in the UN, Kosovo has no chance of being a legal country.

Kosova is not independent, no matter how many embassies are in Pristina. The real test of independence is you being able to govern yourself and not by EULEX and the way that’s going they will be there until the 22nd Century; borrow money and attract industry and neither of these will happen if Belgrade does not give you the green light.
In regard to Taiwan, once again you guys should not stray too far from Pristina because you are clueless about that region. Taiwan has good governance and does not suffer from corruption like Kosovo, even your judiciary werer caught up in a EULEX-type sting as well as your PM Thaci. Taiwan has always maintained its part of China, but it was the US meddling that has caused problems, but not any more since your freedom loving allies are stuck in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Do you think they started out like that? Building a decent government takes time. The next time you see a $1 U.S. bill, look at the reverse: it shows an incomplete pyramid - we're in the process of building "a more perfect union," but certainly have attained it yet, after 200+ years of work. Kosovo declared independence less than 2 years ago.

The people of Kosovo in public opinion polls have said that corruption is one of the problems they want to be dealt with. And they're dealing with it. The voyage of a thousand miles starts with the arrest of the first crooked judge. Or something. And Thaci hasn't been charged with anything yet.

It won't happen anytime soon. Kosovo is totally dependant (opposite of independent) on the United States. It's a satellite, pure and simple. The Americans are the new Ottoman Empire -- except they aren't goting to be occupying Kosovo for the next 500 years.
The American economy is unstable. America was the #1 creditor nation in the world 30 years ago. Today it is the biggest debtor on the planet. America's national debt is growing at such a pace that in 50 years all US tax revenue will go to service interest on the debt.
The United States is in the first stages of an economic collapse. All Serbia has to do is be patient and develop its ties with Russia and China, because eventually the Americans are going to leave the region and then we'll see how independent Kosovo really is.
Without the might of the United States behind the Kosovo-Albanian cause, Europe will change it's policies. Even with strong American pressure, Europe isn't united behind the idea of an independent Kosovo. When you take the Americans out of the equation, Europe's policies will change.
