In Kosovo, someone is at least doing something about it and is helping to strengthen at the same time.

FYI, Serbia is doing something about it. Don't you follow the news?

Also, it didn't take internationals to come to Serbia to start cleaning it up. Please don't take the moral high ground here.

After all we have seen that if left unchecked, the corruption level in the Balkan countries such as Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania is very very high.

Right you are Benny!
Like I praised the MUP and DAE for their great job in ceasing half a ton of cocaine in Argentina, I praise EULEX for stopping this corruption madness in kosovo.

We might not agree on the way the independance was done, but at least we can agree on the cleaning of criminals and corrupted people, doesn't matter how high they are in the political scene!

"I don't really grasp all the gloating by some of the posters here. This is actually a positive step for Kosovo towards strengthening their judiciary." (Benny)

-- Actually, that was kind of my point, in an indirect way. Blame should go just as much to the international forces responsible for supporting such levels of corruptionn all these years. I'm certain the same types of corruption and bribery function thoughout SE Europe (and New Jersey as well, where we make it into a lucrative political vocation). But my "flourishing" jibe was more directed towards people like Dell than the people on the ground who attempt to glop over these ignoble hiccups.

I don't really grasp all the gloating by some of the posters here. This is actually a positive step for Kosovo towards strengthening their judiciary. If Eulex takes its job seriously and reduces corruption even by half, in the end Kosovo will have half less corruption.

I urge the international community to severly punish all who are involved in any corruption.

Corruption we find in all countries.

More important is the fact that this shows again that UNMIK/EULEX are in control of Kosovo. And not the socalled government!

Please stop pretending you are an independent state!

I don't understand why the West is backing this basket case of a backwards and corrupt little region- at the expense of proper integration and sovereignty support for Serbia

The EU deserves what it gets with the Kosovo Albanians. They thought they would be smart and show them the way to eternal bliss through democracy and freedom. My God how do I laugh now? A neighbour has nephews in Kosovo as part of EULEX and she tells me they are not generous in their descriptions of Albanians, in fact they have become down-right racists and she also states that they would now willingly join the Serb army. This comes from a woman who initially distance herself from my family over Kosovo.
