The point is, Jason, now that Russia has sunk its hooks into Serbia, you can expect Serbia to become much more corrupt than it already is. All of Russia's satellites are just as corrupt as she is, if not more so, why should Serbia turn out differently! Expect Serbia's rating to fall to about 150 in the next few years then kiss the EU goodbye. It's always one step forward then two steps backward for Serbia.
When will you ever learn not to lay down with bears.
(Michael R., 26 November 2009 12:30)

This is so disturbing. My beloved Serbia going to be corrupted by big bad bear.

Please, give me some examples of this great corruption so that I know what to look for.

interesting, zillions of ( albanian-faked ) comments allegedly written by western "observers " like, "Olf" ( very likely supposed to look like a scandinavian guy ) or "Roberto" who STILL wants to make the others here believe that he lives and writes from San Francisco...

all those faked identities, in order to create the impression of western poeple who are interested in the Kosovo-issue AND even favoring the, still illegal, albanian point of view.
and then all of a sudden one Albanian tries to teach us about a " fraud comment " allegedly written by serbian hand...

as for the spanish official:

they stick to international law, without favoring any side, as it seems.

that´s something that seems to hurt some of our dear albanian friends here.

that´s good.

that shows their attitude towards basic achievements of every civilized society, and not only towards the law.

thanks for clearing that up, mate. =)

You conveniently fail to mention Serbia ranks 83 and Russia 146 as least corrupt. … Rather embarrassing for you, no, otherwise why not include it. Once again, hoisted by your own petard!

I dont think so Dibrani. Some of the comments from Team Albania (EA, PRN, KosovaUS, Olf, Ian UK, Berekely, Albani & roberto from frisco) have been out of this world. You couldnt make that stuff up unless you were really genuine about it. Not embarrassing at all. I looked at the list and saw the numbers for Serbia and Russia. The discussion was about Spain that was heavily criticized by an Albanian commentator. So I focused on those two. That is all. If many of the Albanian commentators here would just focus on one ticket at the time things would be much clearer. Anyway, Serbia still ranks better than Albania and I am not responsible for Russia, so you do not hurt me with that one.

"but do have a clue about the Serbian youth and Kosovo issue."

-I dare say he has more of a clue than you do. Most of the rubbish you post about knowing what Serbs want is utter nonsense. How can someone so blatantly anti-Serb claim to understand and know what they think?

"Kosovo issue is supported by housewifes, pensioners, small part radicals and nobosy else."

-This extremely misinformed statement proves my above-mentioned point that you have no concept of reality regarding what the Serbian population thinks. Here Olf goes again being everything to everyone... this time, spokesperson for Serbia's youth in Kosovo.

"I suggest, your main concern should be majority of Serbs that are in touch with reality, Kosovo Independece, not Kosovo. Kosovo is not your business once the Kosovo inhabitants are out of the voters list."

Clearly, though, Spain is considering its options.
(Amer, 24 November 2009 23:34)

You are clutching at straws here. Read the article again.
Spain said they will recognise Kosovo is Serbia does. Plain and simple.
Serbia is not the one holding a veto in the SC. Russia and China hold that and they will use it to block Kosovo unless Serbia says Yes. Considering how Serbia has said time and time again that they will say NO even if it meant no entry to EU, I can't see how you can say that they will hold this over Serbia to enter EU.

Amer

pre 14 godina

[Spain said it] will not recognise Kosovo until Serbia does. That is not until next week.
(Peggy, 24 November 2009 21:21)

The article referred to three possibilities: recognition by Serbia, recognition by the UN, and taking into consideration "the decision by the International Court of Justice on the legality of Kosovo's independence declaration."

Serbia does not actually have to recognize Kosovo for it to join the UN, it's enough if Serbia simply releases Russia from its undertaking to veto it. That is something the EU will probably be able to manage as a condition for letting Serbia join. Or Spain may be able to interpret the ICJ opinion as justifying recognition of Kosovo if the opinion clearly doesn't apply to the Basques.

Clearly, though, Spain is considering its options.

(Sebastian, 24 November 2009 18:56)

So what. Kosovo is being heavily subsidised and supported now by some countries and they are still at the bottom of the barrel and likely to stay there.
No threat of Kosovo ever being able to function with all this support anyway.

village-bey

pre 14 godina

Spain’s perceived parallel between Kosova and Basque Country is misplaced. Also the emphasis on a mutual acceptable agreement is in itself neither here nor there, as both Serbia and Spain wont willingly agree to secession so back to square one.
Bibao is also right to highlight popular legitimacy. While Basque or Scottish nationalists can never be certain on the result of a popular referendum, we in Kosova have the benefit of an absolute popular agreement on our sovereign rights. Ironically we have to thank Serbia and her actions for this emphatic yes.

The interesting bit in Mr Moratinos’ statement is a Spanish admission that this is a complex matter and that an ICJ ruling in favour of Serbia is unlikely. Unlike some in here diplomats are in the habit of choosing words very carefully and we are right to look for nuances. That’s all we have anyways. So he is saying that “ the decision by the International Court of Justice on the legality of Kosovo's independence declaration would be important to Spain, but that Madrid had no intention of opening a diplomatic office in Priština.”
That leaves the possibility of future recognition wide open. States can recognise your sovereign right but be not interested in diplomatic relations.

This would be ever easier if Basques would manage to squeeze a referendum on their right to decide. Economical and political climate do change and Spain is not immune to this.
then can have another chance to get this crucial recognition.

Economical and political climate do change and Spain is not immune to this.
then can have another chance to get this crucial recognition.

all those faked identities, in order to create the impression of western poeple who are interested in the Kosovo-issue AND even favoring the, still illegal, albanian point of view.
and then all of a sudden one Albanian tries to teach us about a " fraud comment " allegedly written by serbian hand...

I am worried that the new EU constitution that does require a majority will eventually force the countries that do not recognize Kosovo's illegal UDI to reverse their stands.

(Olf, 24 November 2009 21:47)

- How can anyone respond to something that makes absolutely no sense?

The point is, Jason, now that Russia has sunk its hooks into Serbia, you can expect Serbia to become much more corrupt than it already is. All of Russia's satellites are just as corrupt as she is, if not more so, why should Serbia turn out differently! Expect Serbia's rating to fall to about 150 in the next few years then kiss the EU goodbye. It's always one step forward then two steps backward for Serbia.
When will you ever learn not to lay down with bears.

This is so disturbing. My beloved Serbia going to be corrupted by big bad bear.

Please, give me some examples of this great corruption so that I know what to look for.

You conveniently fail to mention Serbia ranks 83 and Russia 146 as least corrupt. … Rather embarrassing for you, no, otherwise why not include it. Once again, hoisted by your own petard!

And this is still better than Albania, so what is your point?

Not embarrassing at all. I looked at the list and saw the numbers for Serbia and Russia. The discussion was about Spain that was heavily criticized by an Albanian commentator. So I focused on those two. That is all. If many of the Albanian commentators here would just focus on one ticket at the time things would be much clearer. Anyway, Serbia still ranks better than Albania and I am not responsible for Russia, so you do not hurt me with that one.

interesting, zillions of ( albanian-faked ) comments allegedly written by western "observers " like, "Olf" ( very likely supposed to look like a scandinavian guy ) or "Roberto" who STILL wants to make the others here believe that he lives and writes from San Francisco...

all those faked identities, in order to create the impression of western poeple who are interested in the Kosovo-issue AND even favoring the, still illegal, albanian point of view.
and then all of a sudden one Albanian tries to teach us about a " fraud comment " allegedly written by serbian hand...

as for the spanish official:

they stick to international law, without favoring any side, as it seems.

that´s something that seems to hurt some of our dear albanian friends here.

that´s good.

that shows their attitude towards basic achievements of every civilized society, and not only towards the law.

thanks for clearing that up, mate. =)
