"The main purpose of the tour, he said, will be to prevent new recognitions of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo".

Just wandering why is Jeremic panacking when Serbia's arguments "to defent its sovereignity are extremely solid" especially now that Serbia is sure about the ICJ ruling))) We live in a very funny world.

fez,
to help with the confusion you're having these are two seperate things. the unga (UN general assembly) is the whole collection of nations in the world. nigeria and gabon are already within the unga. the unsc (UN security council) is a sub set of the unga. it contains the 5 permament members of the unsc (usa, uk, france, russia and china) and (i do believe -- correct me if i'm wrong) 10 or 15 other nations. the unsc is an attempt for psuedo democratic approaches with in the UN so that smaller nations get a chance to take part and not simply watch.
so to answer your question being in the UN does not mean in UNSC, but being in UNSC means being in UN. Kosovo is nethier in UN nor UNSC. its still officially, much like taiwan and palestine in limbo.

Fez, what you are looking for is: member of UN not UN Security Council.
Members of SC always rotate except the 5 permanent ones.US, France, Britain, China and Russia.

But way to go Jeremic. So far every time you move, more recognitions come our way.

"He told journalists that Nigeria and Gabon will become members of the UN Security Council as of January 1, 2010,"

can a country be a country without being a member of the UN Security Council? This means that Kosovo is also a country of course, right? I mean Serbs' main argument has been that Kosovo is not a country until it is member of the UN Security Council.

I am confused.
