Van Rompuy is now to the EU what Stalin was to the USSR.
(stari, 21 November 2009 07:25)

I would rather say, this guy for EU is what "Thanksgiving" is for "Turkey".

(Could fit other predominantly muslim EU-aspirants as well).

Otherwise looks boring and unimpressive. Adrian from Bucuresti could be right.

I think a decision to accept Turkey in EU would be the last nail in the cofin of this artificial organization.(szemi, 20 November 2009 16:58

Here is an extract of Rompuy's thoughts.

Turkey is not a part of Europe and will never be part of Europe," Rompuy said. Rompuy’s opposition was based on Europe’s Christian “fundamental values.

“An expansion of the EU to include Turkey cannot be considered as just another expansion as in the past. The universal values which are in force in Europe, and which are also fundamental values of Christianity, will lose vigor with the entry of a large Islamic country such as Turkey.”

France, Turkey, Austria could get enough votes together if they really wanted to block Turkey.
(Ian, UK, 20 November 2009 15:21)

That's a very cunning plan, Baldrick, except I don't think Turkey will want to block Turkey.

Did you ever believed that the germans,French and austrians will give up their veto in the case of Turkey?
(Leonidas, 20 November 2009 11:45)

I think a decision to accept Turkey in EU would be the last nail in the cofin of this artificial organization.Let us not forget about the tolarance level of people or the power of DHEMOS.You can fool the inhabitants to certain level but everything has limits. This anti-human lisbon treaty outlined EU will be finished by its own people and stupid steps can only accelarate this process. As to Blair I must agree .He was just some kind of bait. This guy looks like a true remote controlled puppet.Seemingly a very weak personality.

However I am happy not to have Tony"the biggest slave of new world order "Blair as president.Something positive.
(szemi, 20 November

I've never thought that Blair was never seriously in the running forpresident.Him being touted as a favourite was just a ploy to make people more accepting of the final decision, which wouldn't include Blair.

Therefore, the EU want us to be grateful for accepting the least of the two evils.

So, we got ourselves some "community organisers".

I think their description from The Independent says it all:

"Mr Van Rompuy, Belgian leader for just over a year, will be the new so-called President of Europe, actually president of the twice-yearly EU summits. Baroness Ashton – never elected to any office; never a diplomat; never even a junior foreign minister – will be Europe's new High Representative for Foreign Affairs.

In both cases, their main qualification was that they offended the fewest number of EU leaders and competing EU sensibilities. They were lowest common denominator candidates for posts originally conceived as symbols of a more visible, more democratic, more efficient, more globally effective European Union.

Mr Van Rompuy fitted the bill as a competent, uncharismatic right-of-centre man from a small country who would not get big ideas and annoy the large countries. "

I saw the pictures of these two honorable people.I wonder what will Berlu the italian funny boy say meeting them. Will they be compared to some kobolds or monsters from Lord of Rings or any figure from Star Wars. The guy by far does not resemble an emperor like many label him on this forum rather a recently pensioned off chemistry teacher who on top of all that has serious family problems. However I am happy not to have Tony"the biggest slave of new world order "Blair as president.Something positive.

It is good development for Kosovo and Balkans as a whole. Once EP takes a decision (by majority ruling says Lisbon Treaty) all obstacles will be eliminated.

Having countries that supported indpendence of Kosovo and are after all for peace in the Balkans region, is a GREAT NEWS for Balkans as a whole.
(PRN, 20

The majority ruling is not applicable in the matters of enlargement. You need a unanimous decision.
