What idiot came up with the term "kosovar", there is no such thing. You're either an Albo, Serb, Roma or something. That's like say someone from Novi Sad is a vojvodin. Absolutely ridiculous.

Pejoni

Why call them to vote, why are you trying to force these ppl? Mr Sejdiu how about you start doing your job instead of kissing EU when ever they tell you what to do, you're a disgrace to our ppl.

"Does anybody believe that their voices and their problems will be heard if they do not have a voice?
Only Kosovo Serbs and Kosovo Albanians can do that."

-- Yes, casual_visotr, you are absolutely right. But it also seems that both communities are more interested in collective self-help than mutual cooperation. You write about the K-Serbs

"- If they vote they will have a more vocal voice.
- If they do not vote it will not be a loss to us."

-- Interesting how you say it will not be to their detriment but rather it will have no affect on *you*. You're right again, and I suspect that whether the Serbs vote or not, Albanians aren't really all that concerned. You also write

"Five percent cannot rule the 95%."

-- But that 95% is either unable, or more likely uninterested, in ruling that 5%. And if the majority of that 5% decide to vote when the rest of Serbia votes, will it make that much of an impact on the rest of Kosovo? I don't think so. Besides, it's not as if Feith is actually going to allow an Albanian to govern a Serb municipality. He'd like to see multiethnic cooperation, but he's more interested in preventing social unrest. So either way the Serbs win, and either way, it's just another day for the Albanians.

"We try to take destiny in our own hands at the local level, because if the Albanians gain power on Serb territory, it would be an irreversible mistake,"

And that's only temporary anyway. In 10 years time those munis will be 'reconfigured.' Now we just need to say that Serbs voted. Serbs are between a rock and a hard place
(aRTa, 13 November 2009 11:49)

The only people between a rock and a hard place are you guys. The Albanians are going nowhere fast and you can hold elections till time immemorial and you will not be free from Serbia. Nothing will happen in Kosovo, no investment, no jobs, no changes, NOTHING until Serbia says so.

When the Russians arrive in Nis the Kosovo stagnation will be cemented permanently and it will be like living in a maximum security prison, but administered by your beloved NATO friends. If Serbia so wishes, 10 years will pass and nothing, twenty years goes past and nothing. Your relatives in Kosovo will beg, and I say again beg, to be released from this slow and agonising death, but there will be no change.

The Russians are encircling the EU and now there is agreement with Austria over the gas pipeline. As I have been saying so often on this forum and loudly critised and howled down about the Russians, but its coming to fruition. The Croats were hoping this plan to build gas works at Krk was a goer, but this is evaporating before their very eyes. This was more of jobs in Croatia and not so much as the EU being free from the Russians.

Let me update you on why this is all going pear shape. The latest news on the economic front from the US is not good at all with an official unemployment rate of 10.7% - if you want the real figure just double that amount and add 4 or 5 percentage points.

The theory is to spend its way out of this “recession”, but it’s really a Depression. There are various points in US history where they have done that and with great success. The big difference now is that never in US history have they gone into a ‘recession” with a staggering amount of debt and bad administration. The current group trying to fix the problem are the same that caused the economic plight. They were the high priests of deregulation under Ronnie Regan.

If they managed to contain the economic situation in the US, “the next six presidents after Obama could not repay the debt i.e. approx 60 years….”. To add to this dilemma they are now a passing a bill on health care, which is long overdue, but this will only add another trillion dollars on their Visacard. The EU is in the process of raising interest rates and then watch the value of the US dollar plummet.

Hope I have not depressed you too much, but you enjoy your elections.

As far as the participation of the Kosovo Serbs in the elections is concerned, it is entirely their choice if they want to take part or not.
There are people that want to vote and there are people that don’t want to vote (same thing is with Kosovo Albanians).

One thing must be taken in consideration.

Five percent cannot rule the 95%.
Five % cannot stop the tide.
They can isolate them or they can help themselves.
It is entirely their choice.
They and only they will be responsible for their future.
I know that somebody will say that Albanians boycotted Serbian elections in the 90s so Serbs are doing the same.
The difference is that in the 90s 90% of Kosovo population boycotted the elections today 5% might boycott them.
Sorry, but 5% does not play a big part when numbers are concerned.
If in the 90s, 90% of Kosovo was ignored and in practice was not “missed” what makes anybody think that 5% will make a difference.
We hear daily calls for boycotting the elections however somehow everybody that preaches that lives far from Kosovo.
Everybody that preaches them does not have to endure the consequences of the wrong decision.
It is the people in Kosovo that have to live with that.
If Kosovo Serbs do not participate in the elections the mayors elected will be Albanians (even for regions where Serbs make up the majority).
Does that classify as a victory?
Well, it does not.
Does anybody believe that Belgrade can resolve all of their problems?
Does anybody believe that Belgrade will help them to patch things up with their Kosovo Albanian neighbours?
Does anybody believe that their voices and their problems will be heard if they do not have a voice?
Only Kosovo Serbs and Kosovo Albanians can do that.
I am not going to tell anybody to vote or not.
All I am saying is:
- If they vote they will have a more vocal voice.
- If they do not vote it will not be a loss to us.

*The Serbian government has on several occasions said there are "no conditions for the Serbs* to take part in the election."

1, Finaly Serbia has acnoleged that it wont put conditions on a democratic process of another country

2, if some ethnic nationalsists call Kosovars "their citizens" why dosnt your favourite Extreme or Ultra Extreme party even run in these citys?
its a rhetorical question that only a few dare answer, but everybody knows.

I admire Sejdiu for not-wanting to be "unilateral", and inviting all to participate.
Unlike the last unilateral K-Serb elections, or the unilateral change of their constitution.
Enjoy the voting and pick a winner :)

"dont bother sejdiu, who need their vote anyway. (hazel)"

-- You do because you want to pass yourselves off as a civilized European "country". Yet for all the propaganda of being seen as a "functioning" state, your fellow cyber orcs here are basically saying the state that is supposed to be the most multiethnic in Europe has no place for its most institutionally protected minority. And then people wonder why Serbs want nothing to do with you.

Bring the Russians into Nis sell them your gas rights and take their variable loans. You guys are well on your way to full Russian satellite status. On the other hand Kosova's future lies with NATO and the EU.
Kosova Serbs have to choose between Brussels or Novosibirsk.

Serbs from Kosovo should the opposite of what Belgrade tells them to do. If they tell you not to vote then vote! K-Serbs, I wouldn't trust Belgrade. They betrayed their "own" in the past and are doing it again!

(troika melb, 13 November 2009 10:53)

Troika:
1. There is no "another country" of Kosovo.
2. All "kosovars" - are citizens of Republic of Serbia.
3. Unilateral - was only creation of pseudoindependent state in Kosovo in 2008.

What idiot came up with the term "kosovar", there is no such thing. You're either an Albo, Serb, Roma or something. That's like say someone from Novi Sad is a vojvodin. Absolutely ridiculous.
