Europe could do a lot worse than Chinese immigrants. They are hard working given the opportunity and their children are so well educated that they start to make their presence felt within one generation. The Chinese do not try to engulf a society but blend in easily and enrich it, unlike the Muslims which never assimilate anywhere.

In Poland it's mostly Vietnamese from what I see, but you are right, Chinese are least troublesome immigrants when compared to North and East Africans.

Leonidas,
I fully agree with your analysis. I was surprised to learn that there are so many Chinese shops and Chinese in Greece. I know it is the case in Hungary. I am just wondering if some other European countries have a high number of Chinese expatriates too.

Regarding chinaise markets in Hungary it is worth mentioning an interesting fact that the biggest one is called Józsefvárosi piac(the market of Joseph(Joe) town) or as it is called among chinaise the market of four tigers http://farm1.static.flickr.com/117/289611103_75ed508752_b.jpg .It si the market of poor people therefor the only place where turnover has incresed since the beggining of crises.Otherwise I often bump into chinaise vendors in major polish and chech towns as well as in some places in Serbia.
But last year during my visit in Sicily I walked along some streets in Palermo and Catania which were full of little chinaise shops. However I still think that they are the least problematic immigrants in Europe currently .

Any starving African will welcome the Chinese because
there is no dignity in poverty.

The case of Africa is a sad and relentless history of slavery and oppression both external and internal.

Colonialism has been followed by leaders screwing their own peoples and failed states.Aid has too often ended up in a swiss bank account and the funds spent on securing arms to stay in power.

However, the big question is whether Chinese investments in Africa will benefit its poor people.

Reports show the Chinese investing in Chinese companies that establish operations in Africa, and provide employment for thousands of Chinese immigrants to Africa not Africans.

I've also seen the same thing happening in Greece with thousands of Chinese shops springing up and all stuffed by Chinese nationals.
Therefore,as far as employment isconcerned, there is a net loss to local population.

China, like the West, has a history of doing business with dictators and military regimes across the world and there involvement in Africa could simply be a question of African elites using the Chinese cash to keep them at the top of the hierarchy in their countries.
