The Serbs of course are not receiving 2b euro from the EU at all:

"...another tranche of the total €1 billion of non-refundable aid which the EU set aside for Serbia for the period 2007–2012 for implementing reforms regarding Serbia's EU integration process....

...He recalled that the European Commission has already earmarked more than €2 billion for Serbia through various donations and loans...."

****

And no help for the financial crisis:
http://www.seeurope.net/?q=node/18361

"The European Commission proposed today to the EU Council of Ministers the approval of a EUR 200 mln loan in macrofinancial assistance to Serbia for overcoming problems caused by the global economic crisis....

...Earlier this year the EU approved EUR 100 mln in non-repayable assistance to the Serbian budget from the IPA programme funds."

The EU is great if you know nothing about it and can't use google.

Zoran,

The EU is helping its Member States by giving financial aid during this crisis. Serbia would also like to receive money from the EU but it can't since Serbia is not an EU Member.

Zoran

When Serbia gets visa free travel and the free trade agreement it will have about as many EU rights as Romania without even being a member but won't have the huge debt facing such countries. I wonder whether Mircea will still love the EU when it bankrupts Romania just like the Warsaw pact.

Sad that the Dutch and the Americans still believe that by projecting all of their cowardice, fears, and sins on to the Serbs, and then creating their own institutions of "Justice" for punishing the Serbs, that somehow they will be absolved from their own sins and actions, and thus find salvation in this illusion. It's always the others are the bad guys and never me or us, or it's their fault and never my own,so THEY must be the the bad guys and sinners, and sinners must be punished by death if need be. As a follower of Christ's teachings I know nothing of this god that you worship, just like many Muslims don't know the god that Al-Qaeda worships.Unfortunately the Crusaders knew them both well.

Problem for us with Dutch is that this issue, in The Netherlands, is completely marginalized and ignored concerning their public and concerning their politicians.

Following the Dutch media on daily base I can assure you that none of the media sources in any of its articles or...did not elaborated or even mentioned this subject and present deadlock. Just few months ago, in single authorized article in Dutch daily NRC Handelsbland, their leftist politician Joost Lagendijk have elaborated Dutch Foreign Policy double standards under their present FM Verhagen, but he also did not closely mention or explain to Dutch public idea of SAA blockade of Serbia.

Dutch public: I can grant that, as consequence of above, minimum 90% of Dutch are not even aware that The Netherlands is single country who blocks Serbia in its EU bid (confirmed in individual chats with my Dutch friends, though half of them did not even know what is the Serbia's capitol, which illustrate their ambivalence on the subject). They have some wage idea that Dutch will not allow Serbia to be the EU member before Mladic face that "kangaroo Court", but they don’t have slightest idea does it mean present blocking of transitional economical agreement - SAA or blocking the EU candidacy or...and particularly they don't have any idea that it is, at this stage, their unilateral act?

Dutch politicians: in their long, hypocrite "Srebrenica cover-up operation" and in their dilettante and short-minded approach to Balkans they haven't been intelligent enough to predict that they will possibly bumped in this "unilateral" and isolated situation and at the present they don't have a key how to resolve it neither they are very much busy in dealing with it. Parliament Foreign Comity does not work on it being afraid to change the “status quo” in pre-election period and their conservative FM, with now obvious arrogant Serbophobic tendencies even in some public statements(“…observed improvements in the Serbian attitude since, and I too think that we should reward Serbia for that…”) IS NOT the figure we should be counting with.
Number of issues preoccupy theirs daily politics : recent bankrupt of one of their major banks and now particularly chance for their Prime Minister to become first President of Lisbon’s Europe. That may be particular problem for us because if he departs Dutch will be having crisis of Government and very possible early election what will postpone eventual dealing with “our problem” for at least half year.

So from Dutch side, in my opinion, nothing intelligent to hear soon.

Even if you are correct about the evils of the EU, Serbia should have the trade agreement in place. At least the Netherlands can unblock that and allow Serbia to start trading on an even field.

And please, give the Serbs the Visa free travel already.

Thank You Netherlands!!! You are doing something single-handedly and morally correct- keeping Serbia far away from the tenacles of the EU....and we Serbs thank you! This example should also give Serbia another reason NOT to join the EU- that one, small country is apparently preventing what the majority of the EU member states wish to do. Will all future actions of the EU become potentially "tied up" so easily??? Can Serbia see the dangers of this type of governmental association/domination??? Germany has tried these "dominating alliances" twice before- and where did they lead to? Two world wars. If Europe is such a peaceful community of nations, why do they wreak havoc, through their dominating alliances and pacts, throughout Europe and the world? They've tried twice militarily- and failed. Now, they are trying economically to dominate and to "own" the rest of Europe. The EU is a perfect example of the "trojan horse". Serbia- don't be fooled.... especially with your "elected" leaders trying to create "smoke and mirrors" everywhere.

The EU is an elite club and every country in Europe should become an EU Member. Croatia and Iceland will join the EU in 2012. I think that Norway and Switzerland should also join the EU.

The Czech Constitutional Court will approve the Lisbon Treaty tomorrow. Afterwards, Klaus will sign the treaty.

Mladic is most probably in Kosovo i Metohija. That is the perfect place for him to hide - who would think of looking for him there? He may even have the assistance of the Pristina government - they will do anything for money.

Diana

There must be other motives for the dutch to keep Serbia out of the EU other than the arrest of Mladic. Who in their right mind would hold a whole country to ransom over one man? Nothing will be done anyway until the Lisbon treaty is ratified. My own view it that Serbia would be far better off out of the EU and the EU/USA/UK should arrest their own war criminals first rather than alleged Serbian ones.
