As my humble suggestion for next figure for ambitious project of Pristana's Madame Tussauds Museum...this would be the more adequate link of Muppet's Crazy Harry:

http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Crazy_Harry

Wishing all Kosovo Albanians great success in their admirable comedian project.

dean van der serbia

So, it would be then the opening of the Kosovo Albanians and Pristina branch of Madame Tussauds, I guess?

Next wax figure should be Monica L. to pair the distinguish gentleman or even better Muppet's "Crazy Harry".

As per simple fact...Kosovo is one major Muppet Show.

Agreed. Watch out for the likes of Rocky though - '

??? I thought it was Serbia that erected statues to movie characters.
(Amer, 3 November 2009 17:44)

Amer, I meant Rocky UK. Now that you mention it though, the Serbs in that village should have erected a Chuck Norris statue. That would have been much cooler :)

Jason

From this American, I say that you don't need a statue of Bill Clinton -- you've got the real thing and you can keep him. We don't want him back!

PS And by the way, you can have his wife too!

Thaci should be raising a statue to Albright or Lewinsky. Clinton was preoccupied with impeachment. Albright led Balkan foreign policy and Clinton took the credit. A statue depicting Lewinsky and Clinton with cigar would have been more apt. What other head of state would bomb Belgrade for no valid reason! Oh and don't bother trying to convince me that Clinton intevened to save the masses. I was watching !

Jason you're fired, your views are disgusting.
(Rocky UK, 2 November 2009 02:52)

That't right. Punish everyone who doesn't share your views and then go tell the world that you believe in democracy. You know, the democracy where people are free to express their views without fear of reprisal.

At least be honest and admit that you will continue to punish anyone, including your own Albanians, who don't share the same views as KLA.

You all can call Mr. Clinton this and that and maybe he was not handling good the American economy and yes he cheated to his wife but to us Kosovars he is and will always be a LIVING HERO and of course after deth he still would be a HERO to us. God bless Mr. Clinton and America. It does not matter if is a statue or somthing else the thing is that Mr. Clinton would be remembered in Kosovo forever plus I don't see a diference if it's a bulevard and the statue or a hospipital or highway.

Ataman

pre 14 godina

I agree with you, Ment.
I would not name after Clinton much.

But if it has to be - let it be a hospital. Sounds better than a silly statue and lesser circus.

Zoran

pss, setting up a Russian emergency centre is not a lie. It may be the foundations for a base but it will initially be an emergency centre to put out wildfires and such. It doesn't mean it can't later evolve into something else. There is no lie there.

Clinton lied to the world when he said he had no sexual relations with Monika Lewinski when he knowingly did. It doesn't matter about the other dishonest American politicians. They seem to come by the bucket load.

Ment

pre 14 godina

Some of the comments here are quite funny...

To those posters that keep dreaming that Serbia can actually put Clinton in prison willy-nilly, well, we can always daydream on occasion.

As far as Clinton's extra-marital affairs....well, the Republicans could not fight him on ideas, so they hit below the belt instead. Funny how

1. Newt Gingrich cheated on his wife and divorced her,
2. A number of "morally" outraged Republicans either turned out to be closet homosexuals (looking for sex in airport bathrooms no less) or cheated on their wives too (West Virginia governor being a prime example of hypocrisy).

As far as I can tell, Clinton's image has largely been rehabilitated here in the U.S....and in the world, he's also very much respected. Just witness his fund-raising abilities, if you're a doubter.

In regards to Kosovo, I'm willing to bet Clinton would have appreciated it more if the Kosovo government dedicated a highway or a hospital or a factory or whatever else productive to him, rather than a silly statue.

So Thaci, stop kissing so blatantly and get your damned priorities straight...

pre 14 godina

Angry Joe,
Bravo! You are spot on with your comment. Clinton and his financial gurus helped to put us in this financial mess, the nation’s greatest financial crisis since the Great Depression. The action of the Clinton Administration and his ‘Working Group” is a story of recklessness and arrogance that all of us are now paying for it.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/warning/

Clinton’s Treasury Secretary and a member of the “Working Group”, Robert Rubin, went to Citigroup in 1999 and was forced to resign from there in Jan. 2009. Citigroup took $25 billion US in emergency bailout money! Currently, Obama’s top administration economic adviser, Larry Summers, was part of the Clinton “Working Group”.

and roberto… Bill Clinton's character flaws are indefensible.
It is a bit difficult to take 90% of your repetitive rants seriously.

pss

pre 14 godina

Zoran, you condemn President Clinton for telling a lie about an affair-which should have been between him and his wife and not the world but you praise what you perceive as an outright lie or cover by Russia that you hope could interupt peace in Eastern Europe--read--
This "emergency centre's" placement in Niš looks like a very strategic move. What a novel idea to have Russia help Serbia and its neighbours with emergencies like wild fires. *wink* *wink*

It is good for Serbia to have Russian assistance centres on its soil and even better when NATO exits in a few years time.
(Zoran, 29 October 2009 11:36)
Talk about your contradicting morals or is it more of the double standard anything to Serbia's benefit is acceptable but the rest of the world should live in a different light.

Ataman

'Bill Clinton is the least respected former President ...'

Hardly. Especially not after Bush Jr. spent 8 years working to make him look good in retrospect.

(Amer, 1 November 2009 16:43)

This is probably the essence of that.
Regarding Roberto's comment: not sure, it reflects the North Bay, but for South Bay taste both Clintons are way to honesty-challenged.

Besides of the personality issues and questionable foreign politics - the economy was OK. And the huge Reagan + Bush Sr. debt became a surplus.

Just to disappear magically under Bush Jr.

As for the visit - it's good for a laugh. I really wish I would be there watching and laughing at the circus, but sorry, could not afford the time.

---------

this is the best counterattack to Medvedev's visit.
(genti, 2 November 2009 02:05)

Yes, fine, this was a good response - as long as some Serbian citizens in a southern province of Serbia are happy to greet some famous (ex)-politicians and are full of cheering - instead of attacking Serbian historical and cultural heritage.

If you ask me, what is better: to greet Barack Obama at the Pristina airport or to fire mortars at Decani, I of course would wish Barack coming to Pristina. Just feel happy and don't fire RPG-s.

miles

The statue portrays the former president with his left arm raised while holding documents bearing the date when Nato started its air campaign against Yugoslavia - 24 March 1999.

One must applaud the local Albanian politicians for their sensitivity in healing the wounds of the province. This will serve as a constant reminder and reassure the ethnic minorities in the province of Albanian desires to create a happy multi ethnic community.

Incidentally it really reminds me of The Saddam Hussein statue that got pulled down at the end of the Gulf War. I can imagine right now a rope being thrown around that extended left arm and Billy hitting the deck with a loud crash.

You missed the point. Other people who have affairs may avoid or divert questions regarding it. The difference with Clinton is that he is a proven liar. He lied to the whole world about his extramarital sexual relations and I'm sure he lied to the whole world about many other things. He belongs in the same company as Hash and co. They are all of the same breed but it's all yesterday's news as far as the world is concerned - so it's not a big deal. I just feel a sorry for our ethnic Albanian citizens who treat proven liars and alleged war criminals as gods.

Laughable. I do not feel this alleged kinship with Albanians, I am sorry to say.

I daresay that most Americans would not either if they actually knew where Albania was. There are good ones and bad ones like anywhere, but there are numerous other cultures which the average American actually feels kinship with. Albania is not one of them.

Go back to doing whatever it is you do in the UK.

The Clinton Administration has evaded a lot of the flak for the Sub-Prime crisis and the present GFC. Remember it was Clinton that initiated the idea for financial institutions to give mortgages to those that could not pay them e.g. poor minorities etc. This combined with Bush's stupid wars have created this mess we are in. My advice to the Kosovars is to please keep him there. We don't want him in the USA.

pre 14 godina

Zoran, how many politicians have you known worldwide that have strayed in their marriage and then went out and admitted it?? For that matter how many nonpoliticians do you know that have done this?

roberto, your greatest president was exposed for having sex with another woman and not only did he try to cover it up, he lied to the whole world. Your greatest president is a known liar. If he lied about that what else is he capable of lying about? 100,000 dead ethnic Albanians in Kosovo perhaps? His wife isn't doing any better when it comes to lies either. Snipers anyone?

If you think it's great that he intervened and supported terrorists then so be it, that doesn't surprise me one bit.
(Zoran, 1 November 2009 22:10)

First it was not only Clinton who supported the war, all US political spectrum was for bombing of Serbia, indeed many were for sending in ground troops. Who was Clinton and the Western countries to support? A bunch of mass grave diggers like your indicted war criminals.

No, maybe there were not 100,000 albnains dead, but there were 10,000 in just a couple of months, is it not enough for you?! If Clinton would have not interfered there would have been 100,000 very easy in a year.

I wouldn't worry about another man's wife or sexual life, like you do for Clinton. I would rather try to clean up my own backyard if I was you, cause who knows if you digg deep enough you might find other mass graves of civilians, a favorite sport of the Serbian war machine.

But those days are over, Kosova is independent and Serbia shall never return.

You win some, you lose some. You have Clinton on your side. What more do you want?

You see Olf, some people actually have a brain and they can see what is going on. They don't need to be told what they are looking at and Jason is obviously one of those people.

Wow, how many criminals (morons) can you pack into one room?

1) "It depends on what the meaning of the words 'is' is." --President Bill Clinton, during his 1998 grand jury testimony on the Monica Lewinsky affair

2) "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky." --President Bill Clinton

3)I want us to live in a world where ... we don't have to worry about seeing scenes (on TV) every night for the next 40 years of ethnic cleansing in some part of the world

Clinton is the biggest idiot to have ever graced this world, second only to his wife.

I certainly do remember that trip to Bosnia, and as Togo said, there was a saying around the White House that if a place was too small, too poor, or too dangerous, the president couldn't go, so send the First Lady. That’s where we went. I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base.

Just seems a bit unfair that the rest of the american former presidents + current werent there to attend the "stage war crimes so that you may bomb civilian targets and ethnically cleanse serbs so that you can look like you care about muslims convention"

We can keep going back and forth on this to eternity, but just because the Albanians, US/EU (most of them) say you are a nation, it does not make you one. you all apparently missed the funniest part of the "news" article: provinces (acc to them) have parliaments! oh what is the world coming to, when you can't even control yr former colony??

clinton does not just look good because of bush, i am sorry to disagree -- he was one of our strongest and most intelligent presidents in recent history. and the economy under clinto -- no one could even imagine such a thing these days, post Bush. the sex scandals -- and more precisely how the VERY nasty opposition attempted to exploit them -- are and were utterly beside the point. ok, he is? was a bit of a tramp. not a perfect husband. we get it. meanwhile all of these 2-bit, holy-roller politicos have turned up so many sex-scandals as to make yr head spin. many of the most publicly uptight, right-wing republicans have tried to cover up their sleaziest sex scandals, that made clinton's seem positively tame in comparison.

but in the end, who cares?! as usual from the other side, it is "find anything to distract from the task at hand." that is, that clinton, who (along w the rest of the inl so-called comm)failed so miserably until it was way too late to save the people of bosnia, FINally did the right thing in kosovo/a. and for that we shall always remember and honor him.

that means that whatever kosovars think of various american (US) regimes, they will always remember clinton and co. w/fondness and respect (if i may speak for them, here). and thus bill clinton Blvd., and thus the unveiling of clinton's bust.

i hate to state the obvious, but sometimes it is a bit hard to take 90% of the comments here at all seriously.

thank you. and thank you, bill clinton!

Ment

pre 14 godina

Leonidas, good point about the Caucasus energy routes. I was thinking about that yesterday. It doesn't look like any of the pipelines will be realised so if that's the justification for Bondsteel then I wouldn't expect it to be around much longer.

Maybe Willy is going to spill the beans to Hash and co.

roberto, your greatest president was exposed for having sex with another woman and not only did he try to cover it up, he lied to the whole world.

I really wish I would be there watching and laughing at the circus, but sorry, could not afford the time.

this is the best counterattack to Medvedev's visit.

As a president Bill Clinton was the most effective the US has had in many decades. His personal life is nobody's business but his own. President Clinton showed great character in deciding to bomb Serbia. I think he deserves a lot of respect for defending the Albanians.

God bless you Mr. President, we will never forget you.

Angry Joe,

Angry Joe

pre 14 godina

The Clinton Administration has evaded a lot of the flak for the Sub-Prime crisis and the present GFC. Remember it was Clinton that initiated the idea for financial institutions to give mortgages to those that could not pay them e.g. poor minorities etc. This combined with Bush's stupid wars have created this mess we are in. My advice to the Kosovars is to please keep him there. We don't want him in the USA.

Talk about your contradicting morals or is it more of the double standard anything to Serbia's benefit is acceptable but the rest of the world should live in a different light.

That't right. Punish everyone who doesn't share your views and then go tell the world that you believe in democracy. You know, the democracy where people are free to express their views without fear of reprisal.

At least be honest and admit that you will continue to punish anyone, including your own Albanians, who don't share the same views as KLA.
