'The debate is who wants the Serbians in or out of the EU, but I have never read anything about who wants the Kosovars in the EU.
(sj, 31 October 2009 04:10) '

So read "EU to negotiate visa-free, trade deals with Kosovo" http://www.reuters.com/article/europeCrisis/idUSBYT460936 .

It's not so much which of two small countries the EU "wants" more, but that either of them, left outside the EU, will become a source of crime, corruption, and instability that could infect the entire continent.

luis

How mean is that?! all EU countries should know that the EU needs Serbia not Serbia the EU - because Serbia is a such important country in Europe. It is after Germany,France,UK the 4th power in Europe!

The Dutch are intransigent and the Serbs are cooperating. Clearly the Dutch government have learnt nothing from Srebrenica they are it seems incapable of moving. They are holding a whole nation hostage for one man. Come on Holland it's time to move on !

Serbia needs to consider imposing some sort of sanction on the Netherlands if they fail to reach a workable compromise. They cannot continue to be an obstacle to a countries economic development for crimes committed in Bosnia by Bosnians (Bosniaks and Serbs).

The Swiss

Goals and objectives are NOT getting mixed up here.
The Dutch believe that a full cooperation would surely lead to the capture of those criminals.
THAT is why they don't change their position. They are not buying whatever Serbia is trying to sell as cooperation.
The Dutch are convinced that the above mentioned criminals can indeed be caught. THAT is the only result which will prove full cooperation. The rest of the painted over activities from the Serbian side, trying to pass for "full cooperation" mean absolutely nothing.
Good job Netherlands!

I agree with Zoran, this IS becoming a tired, depressing topic.

Visa-free travel for Serb's is all that is needed for Serbia to progress and thrive.

And who cares what the Dutch think? Remember, these are the people who in WW2 provided more non-German volunteers to the Wehrmacht and SS than any other occupied nation COMBINED. And they have the temerity to 'police' the world?

Lay off the pot and whores guys, it seems to have made you forget you were as complicit in the holocaust (a far more vile event than Srebrenica et al) as any German or Ustashe member.

I am so grateful to Holland -- to the Netherlands, and to its people. i'm sure it is true that the dutch involvement in srebrenica has influenced their position, as well it should. the dutch force was cowardly, their actions unforgivable, but also in a larger context, they were not supported by the (so-called) intl community. in fact they were sold out, sold down the river, as were the people of srebrenica. the natives, and the 1,000s of starving refugees, forced into years of the most inhumane conditions imaginable.

everytime i read of that living nightmare, and after each interview we've done, i just feel more and more anger, you can say rage. it is a very good thing that i am not in charge of mladic's punishment. not to mention that of his bosses, or his all-too-willing executions.

there is something very special about the dutch -- i've said that before and i really mean it, not just because they won't give into all of the peer pressure here. of course there are bad dutch as well, they're only human. but my personal experiences with the dutch are unlike that of any other people. many times was i helped, even saved by some dutch person. then when i tried to show my gratitude, they would say: Oh, it's nothing: we just saw you needed help, and we helped. no biggee.

They announce that they want Serbia in the eu and then encourage the dutch to oppose it. Anyway, the Dutch obviously have their own agenda, and that is to somehow get the monkey of failure off their backs concerning Srebrenica. They were in command in the so-called safe zone of Srebrenica, its protector and safe-keeper. They failed miserably, and allowed Mladic to do what he is accused of doing. What I don't understand, even if Mladic is arrested, the Dutch still failed to do what they were in Bosnia to do. It will not change their guilt concerning Srebrenica.

Serbia cannot pay ever and never for what it is to be the ultimate human downfall, epical cowardness of Dutch, so called, "soldiers in Srebrenica.

Serbia does cooperate very fully (and very unfortunately) with that "Nato pathetic show-trail" and that it admitted even by traditional non-Serbian likefull US.
Henk Jan Ormel is the party colleague of Dutch Serbophobic FM Maxime Verhagen, so Micunovic did not stand a bare chance to have argumented discussion with that figure.

And let's go further in elaborating this insane stance: what will then "PRINCIPLE" Dutch do if Mladic is not found in the matter of next 10 years? Still keep us under the sanctions?
Or maybe we should expect from that circus Prosecutor Brammertz, being Flamish(read Dutch) to report the truth, declare "full cooperation" and press on Dutch to stop the blockade?
Don't believe so.

EU conspiracy against Serbia continues...will last...but the pay day will come...in addition to Srebrenica apocalyptic Dutch human misery, their moral downfall rapidly continues.

Enough already. This topic is becoming boring and we've heard it all a million times before. It is good for Serbia not to enter the EU. Visa free travel and the existing trade agreement is enough.

We already have problems with our sovereignty without joining this union - where we would be expected to hand it over completely if the Lisbon treaty ever gets ratified.

It's obvious the EU and US are desperate to get us in but they themselves are now responsible for all of the obstacles they've put in the way. It's all beginning to backfire on them and that only strengthens Serbia.

(Mike, 30 October 2009 19:26)

It's not that Italians NEED Serbia in. It means they wouldn't mind Serbia in EU. There is a difference there.

Well partially you have a point van der Serbian... But 1 minor thing how can your put Mr. Brammertz flamish ( read dutch)???? That would be pretty much the same as I would say Mr. Haradinaj is Serbian because Pristina is Serbian territory and practically same distance as Belgium is from holland!!! Plus I am sure Mr. Haradinaj does speak Serbian as well!! Too bad that you have put this mate because the rest of your arguments are quite right! But with categorizing all people in the same box you are getting far from getting your point!

Adios

Goals and objectives are NOT getting mixed up here.
The Dutch believe that a full cooperation would surely lead to the capture of those criminals.
THAT is why they don't change their position. They are not buying whatever Serbia is trying to sell as cooperation.
The Dutch are convinced that the above mentioned criminals can indeed be caught. THAT is the only result which will prove full cooperation. The rest of the painted over activities from the Serbian side, trying to pass for "full cooperation" mean absolutely nothing.
Good job Netherlands!

Živeli!

You can't tell someone they're not working because they haven't finished working," continued Mićunović.

Yes you can Micunovic.I don't know how it works in Serbia but every other job you get paid in how you perform. And results are the most important part of the performance.Serbia's job is to arrest Mlladic. Not try to arrest Mlladic.

arta, why the daily sarcasm? Bashing Serbs, or anything Serbian, will not make your life, or health, better.

Then why bother joining? Turn Serbia into one massive Russian AA battery and paint every HATO plane that flies near the border. I don't believe any of these phoney, eu foreign minister hypocrites. They announce that they want Serbia in the eu and then encourage the dutch to oppose it. If there is one thing I learned growing up in the west is that all you need is a story (= lie) to be successful in western culture. These clowns actually believe they can trick Serbia. Soon, they will start re-neging and their puppet Tadic government will be thrown out of power by the Serbian people.

Bog blagoslovio Srbiju!
(And save us from the western authorities and their puppet media)

let me guess tomorrow's news:
Dutch say no, Italians say yes.

Guys, until you make up your minds on foreign people affairs on which you have absolutely no power, let us take a break from getting "up to date" with your news.
ok?

"...there is something very special about the dutch -- i've said that before and i really mean it, not just because they won't give into all of the peer pressure here. of course there are bad dutch as well, they're only human. but my personal experiences with the dutch are unlike that of any other people. many times was i helped, even saved by some dutch person. then when i tried to show my gratitude, they would say: Oh, it's nothing: we just saw you needed help, and we helped. no biggee.

You should be getting B92 poetical award.

What do you say?
Dutch don't "give into all of the peer pressure" ?
Yes indeed, if it involves small Serbia which can be easily blackmailed(or Iceland maybe too), but when the bid daddy US wishes something they are first in the run.

You must work for Italian government to know that. Or perhaps you’re looking into crystal ball.
