We have heard this song too many times from anti-Russian circles.
But addressing the Serbian MPs, Dmitry Medvedev was honest and open. He offered a firm, friendly hand to Serbia.
At the same time "Lion", "Eagle", "Wolf" etc., either have been silent, or preferred even not to bring apologies to Belgrade for 72-days massive bombings of Serbia in 1999.
Words of politicians. what else would you excpect? He said nothing of significance. I assume Serb MP have excpected more, but it never came from Medvedev's mouth.
Interesting, a lot of ceremonial activities going on. On the end he is the president of a powerful and great sized country.
But somethings kind of stood out to me:
"He underscored that the basis for Russian-Serbian cooperation "can and should be economic cooperation".
- This to me translates that we don't care about anything else, except money and profit. Real capitalist approach isn't it?!At the bottom line the cooperation between Serbia and Russia is not because of the similarities in origins and religion, but simply on basis of economic corporation. Interesting, but not surprising.
"He stated that Russia was 'categorically opposed to drawing any wrong parallels between the events in the Balkans and in the Caucasus.'"
- This to me seems to tell that the cases are different making them special on their ways. Something of large political weight I believe. It just goes along with what has been said over and over again by the western powers that Kosovo and the Caucasus are different and Kosovo in itself is a special case.
Is to bee congratulated that the relations are so strong between Russia and Serbia. There is no doubt that some people profit from it. There's got to be a reason behind everything. Behind this one is: "be economic cooperation".
