PM: Redundancies not linked to IMF

The process of rationalizing public administration should not be linked exclusively with the conditions set by the IMF, says Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković.

Gear. If they want rationalization they should: * Cut 20% to state emplyoment, not the 3% the fovernment has proposed.
* Cut the parlimanet to 1 seat per 60,000 registered votes [approx 100 seats].
* Cut government functionaries (most expensive employers) from 28,000 to 9,000.
* Cut ministries to 9.
* Increase the amount of time government documents apply. I've notice in the last couple of years the lengths documents last have halved [e.g. passports - 10 years to 5].

But no government would do this, it would cause too much unemployment [although the other cuts are just as good from the 20% cut].

As much as I dislike this government, I support the rationalization of the administration and public sector. A more concrete step would be to reduce the number of ministries to about 10 or 15 and reduce the number of parliamentary seats from the current 250 to 120. This will save money, reduce bureaucracy, make the administration more transparent which decreases corruption and finally improve the speed of decision making. Lets hope this is the case.

Cvetkovic deserves to face a vote of no confiedeence. His administration is unsuccessful and this contradicts statements several ministers and he himself said not too long ago.
