Instead of selling Serbia to the Americans or Germans for that matter, it would be best for the nation to privatize it to the workers as a co-op with shares held in common to the employees. Look what happened to Croatia, germans bought it from right under them...this was always the plan by the west and Croats are learning the harsh truth of it as well as the other ex-yu republics.

Unless you are the Obama administration - they fully prepare to run everything in America. Be it the banks, or healthcare for citizens, Obama has the answer. How is this guy any different than an ex-socialist apparatchnik from the former Soviet Union? Not much, in my opinion.

Well said Patrik, I fully agree.

Unfortunately there are still many Serbs from the time of socialism who just aren't ready to understand to con's of a planned economy. The government has no place in running a company, its just not designed to do that. The way things are now state run companies will only slip further and further into debt and ironically its the tax payers who will be burdened with providing more funds to keep an unprofitable company alive.

notso, if the beginning of your post is a quote, I do not not see that anywhere in the article. As to privatization, only a fool would fail to see that the government is clueless when it comes to running companies. Just take a walk through downtown Belgrade and notice how well the government is doing with the maintenance of the exterior of the buildings. They can't even regulate the parking downtown and enforce the laws. I say privatize everything and let the government concentrate on what should be their job.... governing the people & improving the economy.

...and that is why IMF keep "informing" (impose) privatization of common assets & infra structure.

That is nothing less than theft and you still don´t get it...
